In Kyoto, eating decent Japanese food can be very expensive!! It's really expensive!! It's crazy!! So, I was looking for a place that is both Kyoto-like, delicious, and reasonably priced, and I found it - Kirin's directly managed "Spring Valley Brewery Kyoto". There are also shops in Tokyo, but they change the menu according to the region, so there are plenty of Kyoto-like options. The restaurant is a short walk from Kawaramachi Station, and the building is a renovated Kyoto machiya, so the atmosphere is quite nice. Inside the restaurant, there are facilities that proudly announce, "Hey, we're making beer inside!" Well, I guess there's no choice but to drink beer!! So, we ordered different beers - Toyujun, Silk Ale, Daydream. Delicious!! This is it, this is it! After touring Kyoto in the heat, beer is delicious!! The quality is high, as expected. The aroma and richness are strong, with no dry, crisp feeling, but I like this kind of beer, so it's fine with me!! For appetizers, we had a charcuterie platter - carefully crafted ham, bacon, pate. Good quality just as it looks, and it goes well with beer! Even the pickles that come with it are delicious. We also had a salad with kale, bacon, sand liver, and apple. The bitterness of kale is good, a nice palate cleanser. It's bitter but good, much better than lettuce. We also tried the black fried chicken. It's black!! Big Magnum Black Iwa-sensei!! The taste is good, juicy and crispy. It's not like the fried chicken at a local specialty shop, it's a bit more refined, with a high-class taste. The fish and chips with conger eel (tartar sauce) were huge!! Huge!! It's delicious, as the name suggests, fluffy and the tartar sauce with pickles is very good. Give me more tartar sauce!! The Lava Rock Grill, basically a steak with balsamic sauce, is good. It's a good type of lean meat, cooked just right, with a rich taste. It's a bit tough, with a good chew, but it's a flavorful meat. It's good in its own way!! For dessert, both were at the level of a slightly fancy cafe or patisserie. Delicious!! So, the bill came out to about 6000 yen per person. It's a restaurant run by a major corporation, but it's a good restaurant that pays attention to the local area. The quality of the beer goes without saying, and I would like to try other items on the menu as well!! Thank you for the meal!!

Spring Valley Brewery Kyoto in Fushimi-kaido is offering a craft beer tasting set. I heard that their beers are easy to drink and delicious, so I decided to try them out in the middle of the day (it's my day off tomorrow anyway, haha). I'm not a heavy drinker, but I can handle alcohol, so I took on the challenge alone (haha). Two of the three craft beers were already decided - the Rich and the Silk Ale, and for the last one, I chose the Yuzu and Ginger Didream. The easiest to drink was probably the Didream (haha), but I still struggle with beer, to be honest. I also ordered the Kyoto vegetable Garbanya and Hojicha Panna Cotta as a side dish, and they were delicious! It felt like having dinner in the middle of the day, but oh well, it's all good (haha).

However, they mention that they cannot accommodate specific seating requests. I noticed that many of the guests going upstairs were those with reservations. It was quite a sight to see people dining at this not-so-affordable Kirin restaurant in the heart of Kyoto on a holiday. Spring Valley Brewery is well-known for its Kirin craft beer, which is considered the best of the best. They offer limited edition beers that can only be enjoyed at their brewery in Kyoto, making them quite special. The food was also impressive, with dishes like mackerel sushi potato salad and Kyoto vegetable bagna cauda, showcasing local flavors in a creative way. If you are celebrating a special occasion with your partner or spouse, I would highly recommend making a reservation rather than just showing up. I usually buy my favorite Spring Valley drinks at supermarkets or convenience stores and wanted to drink a lot of them, so I made a reservation for the 2-hour all-you-can-drink plan about two weeks ago. The conclusion is... I was extremely satisfied! I enjoyed it slowly in a lovely seat with a view of the garden. 1. Appetizer assortment The appetizer assortment was packed with beer's classic appetizers, and everything was delicious. I especially liked the "mackerel sushi potato salad." The potato salad alone was delicious, and the mackerel was also delicious! ★ I started with the Summer Craft Ale, a refreshing ale beer. 2. Chirimen sansho salad The salad made with Kyoto's unique ingredients was perfect with alcohol. ★ I had the Daydream for my second drink. I love white beer (especially Hoegaarden!), and Daydream is a taste I can drink as much as I want! 3. Mussels and fried potato with sansho dip I love mussels. The sansho dip is also delicious on its own (like drinking with salt or soy sauce)! ★ I had the Jazz Berry, a refreshing sweet beer, for my third drink. 4. Sausage By this point, I was grateful to be too full... The sausage had a satisfying texture and was incredibly delicious. ★ I had the After Dark, a strong beer, for my fourth drink. The fluffy foam was delicious, and the aroma was fantastic! 5. Whitebait and green onion pizza It was incredibly delicious. I love the thin crust. The ingredients had a Kyoto-like feel. ★ I had the 496 for my fifth drink. It had a calming taste. As I write this, I realize I only had five drinks... I thought I had drunk six or maybe seven... Oh well, I think I had Silk Ale too... Ah, I just wanted to drink more! There was plenty of food, and having delicious beer unlimited was the best. The staff were all very friendly, and I would love to visit again the next time I go to Kyoto.

The sake was good, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was good! They poured each beer in a way that matched perfectly, and the temperature was well controlled. There was a nice foam ring in the glass. You can tell that the manufacturer puts a lot of effort into it. It might be better not to have all-you-can-drink. Quality over quantity!! Personally, I prefer Guinness, so I ended up sticking with that. The course menu was decent, but the charcuterie we ordered separately went really well with the beer. The prices are on the higher side, but considering it's not a casual dining spot, it was understandable. Overall, we were satisfied with the experience.

The beer glasses are also very particular, adding to the enjoyment. The menu has a foreign feel, and the anago tempura was particularly delicious! The anago's impressive appearance and meaty texture make it a must-try, and it pairs well with beer! You can also enjoy a meat platter with 3 or 5 varieties, perfect for a lively group gathering! Ideal for dates or girls' nights out, this restaurant is suitable for various occasions!
