I visited the restaurant for its 4th anniversary! It had been about a month since my last visit. Normally, I can enter without waiting in line, but this time, I waited in a long line for about 1 hour and 20 minutes because they were giving out free ramen tickets for the anniversary. I usually order the Red Spicy Ramen for around 1500 yen, with extra coriander for 290 yen, and a side of rice for 150 yen. I don't remember the exact prices, but in total, it was 1990 yen, which is quite expensive. I actually wanted to order the 28th Avenue Ramen, but last time I did that, the staff made it very obvious to everyone around me, which was embarrassing. So this time, I went with the 8th Avenue Ramen since it was crowded. They had condiments like chili oil on the table, so I added a lot to make it spicier! It's pricey, but if you want to eat spicy ramen in Shinjuku, your options are limited to this place or 175℃'s Dan Dan noodles. The toppings are also expensive. However, I received a free ticket this time, so I'm looking forward to using it.

It's hot. I want to eat something spicy. But I don't want to sweat. That's my selfish mode. The cold and spicy yet refreshing Yuzu Karakuren Ramen is perfect for my current mood. It's available at Subnade, so I don't have to wait outside in the heat. At 2 PM, there are only 2 groups lining up at the ticket machine. There are many foreigners, and the menu is extensive with various toppings, making it difficult to choose even in English mode. If you add cilantro to the cold Yuzu Karakuren Ramen, it will cost nearly 2000 yen. It's expensive, but it's delicious, so it's worth it. The bright red soup with ice floating on top. I love the sour and spicy soup. It's not just spicy, but also has a good dashi flavor. The thin noodles go well with the soup. When you eat green onions, cilantro, menma, and soup together, your throat and stomach will be delighted by the various aromas and textures. The thick stems of cilantro made it a bit challenging to bite into. The noodles are not heavy, so I can finish AFURI's ramen. I enjoy the Yuzu Karakuren sauce with the chicken chashu for a flavor change. It spreads the yuzu fragrance in my mouth. It was delicious. I'm glad I could eat it while it's still hot.

I went before 12 o'clock on Saturday and there were about 5 groups waiting in line. It was my first time, so I chose the middle and tried the Yuzu Spicy Red Ramen from 6 Chome. It had just the right amount of spiciness. I think I could handle it even spicier. The chashu was also very tender and delicious. The taste had a slightly exotic feel to it. It might be a matter of personal preference. I liked it. I also ordered a Yuzu-flavored beer, which had a strong and delicious yuzu flavor.

After several years, I revisited the restaurant. I first encountered it during the COVID-19 pandemic and was impressed by how delicious it was. I was so amazed that I ended up going back three more times in a row. I visited again after several years with excitement. I chose level 4 spiciness with pork chashu. When the bowl arrived, I took a sip of the soup. Huh? It tastes kind of weak. The pork chashu was tender and full of collagen, just as delicious as before. The soup was tasty, but it felt like it lacked richness and umami. Was it always this weak? I finished it while wondering if the long time since my last visit had made the taste seem better in my memory. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant at 12 o'clock, entered without waiting, and the place was about half full. They use a food ticket system for payment, which makes it easy to pay for almost anything. I ordered the Yuzu Spicy Red Ramen at 28 Chome with seasoned egg topping. On the table, there were condiments like sansho pepper chili oil, ginger apple vinegar, golden spice, and super spicy thick chili oil. They also serve stomach medicine at 28 Chome. I thought it would be very spicy, but it was more tangy due to the yuzu flavor. Spicy ramen usually has a miso base, but this one was different, so it was a unique experience of a spicy and tangy ramen.

AFURI, a leading player in the spicy and curry festival held at Tobu Department Store in Ikebukuro from August 3rd to 8th, was bustling with many customers. The concept image leader for the new proposal "Karakurenai" was the AFURI Shinjuku Subnade store. So, I will review the Karakurenai that I received at the festival at this store. - Karakurenai Tsukemen ¥1390 - Level 5 spiciness "Shinto Mekkyaku Niju Takaki" ¥50 I was also attracted to the cold Karakurenai ramen limited to the festival, but the tsukemen using vacuum hand-kneaded noodles was delicious. The thick noodles made from durum wheat with a hint of sansho pepper flavor, and a dipping sauce with a depth of spiciness blended with several types of chili peppers on a base of seafood dashi and soy sauce. I couldn't stop eating, it was so good. By the way, I was warned about the increased spiciness with "Shinto Mekkyaku Niju Takaki" (double waterfall of sweat?), but it's not that spicy, it's still at a relatively peaceful level, although there may be individual differences. Adding the "extra spicy chili oil" on the table completely changes it to extremely spicy. The red journey that will lead me to enlightenment is still continuing. (End)

It was delicious. The food was tasty, but there was something lacking in the 4th Avenue location. You can change to konjac noodles and add spiciness for an extra cost, so it seems good for dieting. However, considering the taste and price, I don't feel the need to eat there again.

I visited the restaurant alone at night. I had been curious about this place for a while because there was always a long line. Finally, I was able to enter. It operates on a food ticket system, where you select your order from the menu displayed on the LCD panel. Once your order is ready, you sit at the counter and wait for your food to arrive. The ramen that came out had a clear soup without any bitterness! It might be perfect for a finishing ramen. Thank you for the meal!

I went to Karakurenai after eating AFURI and 31 Ice Cream. It was not crowded as it was a weekday afternoon. I bought my ticket from the machine and then took a seat. They had hooks for bags under the counter, and baskets to store your belongings, which was convenient. Most of the customers were women. I ordered the yuzu beer that caught my eye at AFURI. It was perfect for yuzu lovers. I chose the level 4 spiciness, which was free, and opted for chicken chashu. The ramen arrived shortly after. It was mentioned that the noodles were mixed with Japanese pepper, but it wasn't overpowering and tasted delicious. The spiciness wasn't too strong for me, so I'll have to come back and try a higher level next time. The acidity wasn't too pronounced either. The chicken chashu was delicious. I think I'll always go for the chicken chashu from now on. As always, I like to mix up a small ramen on the lotus root with the table condiments. I recommend the Japanese pepper chili oil. It's my favorite. The chili oil isn't very spicy, so if you're looking for heat, it might be better to pay for extra spiciness. I'd like to try the Daikamikami, but if it's just going to make my mouth hurt, I'm not sure about it... It's delicious, so I want to keep coming back until I find the perfect level of spiciness for me.

I like sour and spicy ramen. It's tastier than Tom Yum Kung Ramen. The chicken chashu topping is moist. You can choose the level of spiciness, so it's recommended to start from around level 3. The yuzu lassi is also delicious.

I had been interested in this restaurant for a while, so I was looking forward to it, but it was not as great as I had expected. I ordered the spicy red miso mixed noodles in large size (¥1490) with a spice level of 4 (equivalent to medium spiciness) and tried it, but it was just moderately delicious. It was a unique mixed noodles dish with plenty of cilantro and a sourness from the lemon. The portion size was satisfying, but the taste was something I could get tired of easily. Next time, I plan to order something more standard when I go there again.

Chilled Yuzu White Soy Sauce Ramen ✔︎ Comes with ice, so it's cold ramen ✔︎ Taste is similar to cold noodles ✔︎ Tried my friend's level 4 spicy, it was very hot ✔︎ About 80% of the customers were from overseas ✔︎ The staff were able to communicate in foreign languages.

Spicy Tsukemen (4th Avenue) ¥1,390 Cilantro ¥290 Grated Daikon Radish ¥210 Yuzu Lassi ¥380 The 5th Avenue is spicy! I thought the 4th Avenue wasn't spicy, but it hit me later. Cilantro feels a bit overpriced, but there's a generous amount of grated daikon radish. Just cilantro is enough for the tsukemen. Yuzu lassi has a nice fragrance and tastes delicious, but you might only need it from the 5th Avenue onwards.

I found out that AFURI has a spicy noodle version and went to Shinjuku. The tingling spiciness is enhanced by the fragrant yuzu flavor, tender and savory chashu, and smooth thin noodles, creating a perfect match. If you like spicy noodles, I recommend going for a spiciness level of 5 or higher.

I tried the spicy ramen soup from Afuri that I had been curious about for a while, and I chose the level 4 spiciness. It had a yuzu flavor and was incredibly delicious! The noodles were thin and had a soba-like texture. While the noodles weren't exactly to my liking, they were easy for women to eat. I thought it was a bit expensive, but it was worth it. The soup was delicious and the atmosphere was great.

AFURI's Yuzu Spicy Red Ramen 28th Street + Premium Malt's Yuzu Aroma Ale I tried the Yuzu White Soy Sauce Ramen for the first time in a while at AFURI, where there were many foreigners as well as Japanese customers. Known for their extremely spicy ramen, I decided to challenge the 28th Street this time. The refreshing acidity of yuzu combined with the intense spiciness of the ramen was irresistible. I went for a higher spice level this time, and it was a perfect match with AFURI's ultra-thin noodles, which I love. By the way, I highly recommend trying the Premium Malt's Yuzu Aroma Ale as well, as you can clearly taste the yuzu flavor in it.

Today's lunch was my second visit to Afuri Karaka in Shinjuku. Last time I went to the 8th Avenue location, but this time I tried the spiciest 28th Avenue. They provide a special mat and stomach medicine for those who try it. The soup with Jolokia peppers was painfully spicy! However, it still had a hint of yuzu flavor and umami. The noodles were incredibly thin, just as they should be. Despite losing consciousness towards the end, I managed to finish it all.

Arrived at the restaurant around 7:30 PM on Saturday with no waiting customers. The interior was mostly filled with foreigners. I ordered the Spicy Red Tsukemen for 1,390 yen. It had a spicy kick from red chili, umami from chicken and seafood, and a sharpness from raw soy sauce, all combined in a red cold dipping sauce. The noodles were hand-kneaded with fragrant Japanese sansho pepper. The spiciness level was at 3 out of 4, and the ramen was free if you can handle up to level 4. I was torn between ramen and tsukemen, but went with the latter as the ramen was described as light. The dipping sauce had a good balance of spiciness and richness, and the signature tangy aftertaste of AFURI helped cut through any heaviness. I had tried their tsukemen with Uber Eats before, but it was my first time dining in the restaurant. The taste was consistently delicious, although it was a bit disappointing that it was slightly on the expensive side.

Afuri always serves delicious ramen. While Karakurenai offers spicy ramen, I personally recommend the chicken chashu. This time, I ordered yuzu beer, which paired perfectly with the ramen! I will definitely go back again!

I tried the spicy Afuri ramen✨❤️ It was quite a unique experience to eat at Afuri, which they describe as "Iriyama." The spiciness level is indicated by "cho-me," and this one was a bit confusing but I liked it❣️ I love spicy food, so I decided to challenge myself with the level 4 cho-me this time. It wasn't very spicy for me, but if you're looking for extreme spiciness, you might want to add extra toppings. The noodles were thin and had a carrot-like color, which made them easy to eat. Adding daikon oroshi (grated radish) as a topping made the soup more enjoyable to eat.
