I stopped by London-ya for the first time in a while. I often pass by the front of the store, but it had been 10 years since I last visited. I'm still not sure if the store is actually called London, but the price had gone up a bit. Still, you can enjoy a single bite-sized castella manju for just 68 yen, making it a great value. They specialize in takeout, and you can buy just one if you like, but this time I bought a pack of five. I tried one right away. The perfect size and the white bean paste inside were delicious, making it easy to eat several at a time. It's affordable for a quick snack when you're feeling a bit hungry. It also keeps well, so it could make a good souvenir.

I received this as a souvenir from Kyoto. It's a snack that I can easily eat 3-5 pieces in one go. It has a retro and cute appearance, and the taste is nostalgic like castella. When heated, the texture becomes fluffy, and it still tastes delicious even after some time.

I passed through Shin Kyogoku after a long time and felt a little hungry, so I bought a London-style sweet bun that I could eat quickly without getting my hands sticky. It was a two-bite size with a firm white bean paste filling, but the sponge cake was soft and fluffy, making it perfect for a light snack. Unlike regular cream-filled buns, the London-style bun is not too heavy and can be eaten easily without making a mess. It's also very affordable at 70 yen per piece, making it a great option for a casual snack or a simple souvenir.

The scene of them being cooked was so cute that I couldn't help but stop and watch. At 70 yen each, the small size is also a nice touch. The dough is more firm than fluffy, and the white bean paste inside is dense. Maybe warming it up in the microwave a bit would make it fluffy and delicious?

The place always smells so good, right? I bought 2 snacks on a whim. It's great that you can buy just one. The castella manju has been around since the post-war period, and it looks delicious just by itself. It's small and just the right size. Inside, there's a white bean paste with a mild sweetness. It's recommended for eating on the go!

I arrived before 3 o'clock and there were several lines formed. They were selling 10 pieces without a box. They are mini-sized taiyaki with a diameter of about 5cm. They have white bean paste inside. They are delicious in a normal way. By the way, I freeze them at home and they still taste good when heated in the microwave. However, I personally prefer taiyaki with chunky bean paste. They could make a good souvenir, and there are also long-life types with a long expiration date.

Freshly made, these pastries are fluffy, but when reheated in a toaster they become crispy. The balance between the white bean paste and the dough is perfect and delicious. Since they are bite-sized, you can enjoy them in various ways. They also make great souvenirs as they have a long shelf life. The wait time may be long, but it's fun to watch the machines in action.

You can't take your eyes off the spectacle of London-style pancakes being cooked with impressive movements that rival amusement park attractions! The sound of "katchan! katchan!" as each one is carefully prepared by the craftsmen, creating bite-sized castella dorayaki with a generous filling of sweet white bean paste. Available individually or in boxes, they make for a delightful treat or souvenir for those who enjoy food adventures.

I visited a restaurant recommended by a taxi driver as the best in town. It was crowded on a Sunday, but I managed to buy two London-style cakes for 70 yen each. They were like traditional Japanese sweets with white bean paste inside. They were small and perfect for a light snack.

Following the Lin Wanchang Hall, this is part of the Kyoto souvenir series. Located on Shinkyogoku Street, I had seen their showroom-style baked goods before, but this time I decided to purchase some for the first time. With a distinctive "kan" sound as background music, the round castella turning on the turntable looked delicious. Recently, it seems that foreigners have been sharing about it on social media, as I saw a few of them indulging in the treats when I made my purchase. The individual castella cakes are on the smaller side, allowing you to eat multiple pieces. Inside, there is a sweet custard cream filling. It is wrapped in a moist castella sponge. This is definitely a must-try souvenir from Kyoto!

London-style pancakes, a nostalgic treat from my childhood! I used to watch them being made automatically with fascination. Unfortunately, it feels awkward to watch now, so I only sneak a quick glance. I enjoyed 10 pieces for 660 yen! They were delicious and I devoured them quickly!

Director Fujisaki Shinichi of BODYPITKYOTO here. Once I start eating, it seems like I develop a deep connection, as I had another chance to eat again. Last time, it was eating out, but today I took it home properly. It got a little cold, but it was delicious. Thank you very much.

Dr. Fujisaki Shinichi, the director of BODYPIT KYOTO, here. I was born in Teramachi and lived there until kindergarten, so I've been eating there since I was little. Today, I went there after a long time. The nostalgic taste made my heart melt. Bite-sized. Perfect for eating on the go. Thank you very much.

Located about a 2-minute walk from Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi Station and a 6-minute walk from Keihan Gion Shijo Station, this long-established store founded in 1947 is situated near Shijo Street in the approximately 500-meter-long shopping street of Shinkyogoku. They offer a bite-sized castella manju with white bean paste filling for as low as 70 yen each. This time, I chose a box of 15 London-style cakes. The dairy-free London cakes had a light sweetness and were delicious to eat.

A close couple and I had our usual lunch gathering, and they always bring thoughtful gifts. This time, they brought a retro and cute dessert that I absolutely loved. The packaging was adorable, with a pop retro design in orange and white, reminiscent of the 80s. The Katakana font for "London-ya" was charming too. When I opened the lid, I found mini-sized taiyaki that looked like toys. It had a sweet and nostalgic aroma. "London-ya's London-yaki" has been around since just after the war, offering only one type of castella manju with white bean paste filling, a familiar treat for those living in Kyoto for a long time. Unlike regular taiyaki or imagawayaki, it had a slightly cheap taste, adding to its retro appeal. The crispy outer layer and soft, sweet dough inside were delightful. The chick mascot was also adorable. At just 70 yen per piece, it's a great value. It's perfect as a gift for close friends, Kyoto enthusiasts, or retro lovers. As a fan of white bean paste, I thoroughly enjoyed it until the last bite. Even when it hardened a bit over time, a quick microwave made it soft and fluffy again. Thank you for the delicious, cute, and heartwarming treat!

Soon after the war (established in 1947), the shop "London-ya" has been loved in Kyoto for many years! Located at the southern end of the approximately 500-meter-long shopping street "Shinkyogoku Shopping Street" between Sanjo Street and Shijo Street, the shop is a little up from Shijo Street. The retro orange sign and the machine making "London-yaki" with a "Gatchan, Gatchan" sound are the landmarks. The mysterious machine inside the glass workshop continuously makes London-yaki, which is fascinating to watch. The process from pouring the castella batter into the mold to pressing the "London-ya" brand is fully automated. Only the final touch is done by the staff. The sight of many people stopping to watch the making of London-yaki has become a specialty of London-ya. London-yaki is a bite-sized castella manju with a flavorful batter made with eggs and honey, and a lightly sweet white bean paste made with Hokkaido hand-picked beans. You can purchase freshly baked London-yaki from one piece at the store, making it perfect for filling your stomach after exploring Kyoto. Be sure to also buy it as a souvenir and enjoy the comforting taste of this long-established shop that has remained unchanged for years! Thank you for the meal \(^o^)/

You can see a glass-walled workshop in front of the shop in the four shopping streets where machines make sweets with a clinking sound. I've been watching it for decades, but this is the first time I've eaten it. It's strange. I received it as a souvenir at a Gion dinner party. It said to heat it up when it's cold, so I microwaved it a bit and then toasted it in the oven for a short time. The skin became crispy and the white bean paste inside was hot and delicious. It's simple and a taste that everyone will love. It's small, so you can eat four at once. Thank you for the feast.

The place where they sell these also lets you see where they are made, so it's really interesting to watch. I saw Castella manju with white bean paste inside, and it was delicious. It's not really like a taiyaki, more like Castella. The prices are very reasonable, making them perfect for souvenirs. They have types that can last for a few days and some that can't. I felt like the prices were a little different. Eating them fresh on the spot was also really tasty. Thank you for the meal!

The other day, I received a souvenir from Kyoto called "London Yaki" from a long-established shop called "London Ya". It is a small round cake-like confectionery. Inside, there is a fluffy and soft castella-flavored dough filled with a generous amount of mildly sweet white bean paste. It is bite-sized and you can easily enjoy it in one bite. It has a nostalgic taste, simple yet delicious. It was a delicious London Yaki. Delicious!

I was surprised by the incredibly low price of the London-style pancake (70 yen). Despite its small size, it had a taste similar to castella, and the white bean paste inside was delicious. The service was fast, so it's a good option for a quick snack.
