Tokyo, Shinjuku Ward. Along Yasukuni Street. Use a 50 yen discount electronic coupon. It can be used by scanning it first at the ticket machine. It cannot be used halfway through. I order the Gapao rice for 540 yen. I wouldn't have ordered it without consciously using the electronic coupon. I also add a vegetable salad for 130 yen. I remember it used to be 100 yen in the past. I wait for my number to be called and then go to pick up my order. These kinds of systems seem to be increasing lately. It feels like a service area or airport. It makes me happy when there's tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelette) on top. I think it's a seasonal item, but it would be nice to have it regularly. I think it's okay to raise the prices a little. Thank you for the meal.

I had the morning set meal for 590 yen at "Matsuya" in Shinjuku. It's a beef bowl restaurant near Kabukicho on Yasukuni Street. I went there to have breakfast before donating blood components at the blood donation room in the East Exit. The morning set includes grilled salmon, beef dish, miso soup, and pickles. When I transferred the beef from the beef dish to a bowl, it turned into a mini beef bowl. The grilled salmon came out quickly, but it seemed like it was microwaved instead of being grilled, so it lacked the crispy and fragrant taste. If that's the case, I think it would be better to have the morning set at "Shinpachi Shokudo" next to the Seibu Line station where the fish is more delicious.

Shinjuku Station has a 24-hour Matsuya restaurant located towards Kabukicho. It seems to attract a lot of customers from the nightlife industry. I ordered a small beef bowl, which came with miso soup automatically, and I think it cost around 370 yen. The rice was a bit soft, but the flavor of the meat was strong and overall it was quite tasty. It's a good option for ending a drinking party or for an early morning breakfast.

We arrived at around 4:30 am and entered the Zero Tokyo facility. Unfortunately, my friend couldn't enter because they didn't have any identification. So, they had to wait outside. When it was 4:30, we were able to meet up and entered Matsuya. We were tired, so we only had potato salad, then left and went our separate ways.

Located along Yasukuni Street, near the entrance to Kabukicho, this Matsuya branch is always crowded and noisy from early in the morning. Some customers are even sleeping, and there are few available seats. Despite being a self-service restaurant, there were only two foreign female staff members in the kitchen. The service was a bit slow, but considering the price of the beef bowl being less than 400 yen, the taste was excellent. The miso soup was also served piping hot. Given the current trend of price increases, there's no room for complaints about the taste of the food.

I had the beef bowl and miso soup set for 510 yen at "Matsuya" in Kabukicho. I ate at the store located along Yasukuni Street before donating blood at the East Exit Blood Donation Room. It had been a while since I had Matsuya, and I was surprised to find that the beef bowl had a lot of beef fat in the broth. It used to be healthier and lighter than Yoshinoya, but now it seems denser. I wonder if it's because the taste has changed with age or if they have changed the recipe. I also felt like there was less meat in it. The miso soup was cheaper than usual at 130 yen as a standalone item. It had plenty of ingredients, but the miso flavor was quite strong, perhaps cooked down too much.

I had the 790 yen Yaki Katsu set meal at Matsuya in Shinjuku. It's a limited menu item where they've focused on promoting their Yaki Katsu. The sauce is a garlic soy sauce that really packs a punch. You pour it over the thin Yaki Katsu, which is reminiscent of ginger pork sauce. The Katsu itself is soft and lacks the crispy texture you'd expect, more like a sweet potato tempura. Even the Chichibu Waraji Katsu, which is pounded thin to look bigger, has a crispy coating and more satisfying texture. You'd be happier eating a Gyudon and adding a Ham Katsu sandwich from a convenience store. The self-service system means there are bits of food tickets and napkins scattered on the tables and floors, giving the place a less pleasant atmosphere than before.

Matsuya Shinjuku Yasukuni-dori store - Chicken curry with plenty of simmered ingredients, large serving size 730 yen. Once a year treat, Matsuya's simmered chicken curry is back so I tried it. The sautéed chicken is very hearty and the large onions add a nice texture. The curry spices are also very good.

I visited Matsuya for a snack on Saturday. My favorite curry used to be the tomato curry, so I was curious to try the upgraded version called Ratatouille Curry. I arrived at the store around 3:45 PM and placed my order for the Ratatouille Curry @580 yen using the mobile order system. Although the rice came with a free large serving due to a limited-time offer, I opted for a regular portion. I sat at the counter, sanitized my hands, and waited. After 3 minutes, my number appeared on the monitor, so I went to the pickup counter, showed my phone screen, and received the Ratatouille Curry. The rice was served with Fukujinzuke, but since I don't like it, I asked for some pickled ginger on the side. The Ratatouille Curry had a strong garlic flavor, lacked acidity despite the tomato umami, was not spicy, and slightly salty. The solid ingredients included two types of bell peppers, zucchini, onion, and some minced meat. It was different from my memory of tomato curry, but overall, I found it to be a tasty curry. Thank you for the meal. By the way, can't they do something about the measly 3% Matsuben points? It used to be 10%, so I feel quite unsatisfied.

I found a sign for "Goku Gyudon" at Matsuya Shinjuku Yasukuni-dori store, a 5-minute walk from the east exit of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. I decided to try it out, even though I hadn't heard about it before. I ordered it at the ticket machine inside the store and waited for my number to be called. The dish is made with Angus beef and takes a little longer to cook. When my number was called, I picked up my dish. The bowl was different from the usual beef bowl, with a wider opening and shallower bottom. There seemed to be more onions than usual. I'm not a food connoisseur, but the meat did feel tender. Overall, it was a good meal!

After two months of staying indoors, I decided to go back to work and stopped by here for breakfast before heading out. I ordered my usual breakfast set, the egg over rice with beef bowl for 290 yen, from the ticket vending machine. I chose a seat at the counter, handed my ticket to the staff, and waited. The food arrived promptly - a set with rice, miso soup, a small beef bowl, and a raw egg. I poured the beef over the rice to make it like a beef bowl, then added the beaten egg on top. I could also add red ginger if I wanted. It felt like déjà vu, but for this price and menu, it's a no-brainer. It's a good breakfast option for a day when you need energy for going out after staying in for so long. This chain restaurant in Kabukicho along Yasukuni Street is open 24 hours, making it a convenient spot for a hearty breakfast.

Located along Yasukuni Street, Matsuya is a restaurant that often attracts a large number of customers, including foreigners, depending on the time of day. The morning set meal option allows you to choose from a variety of side dishes, and I ordered the beef bowl. I purchased a meal ticket and received my order in about a minute. The beef was simmered and had a strong, spicy flavor. It looked overly colored, and had a chewy texture due to the high fat content. The miso soup was also on the salty side.

【Returning after 1 year and 3 months】I stopped by again this time for breakfast. I got really hungry on my way to the station. I ordered the cheap version of the morning set meal, the Egg Rice Bowl Beef Bowl Set for 290 yen from the ticket vending machine. I chose a seat at the counter, handed the ticket to the staff, and waited. The food was served quickly. It included rice, miso soup, a small beef bowl, and a raw egg. I poured the beef bowl over the rice to make it like a beef bowl, then added the beaten raw egg. This turned it into a beef bowl-style egg rice bowl. You can also add red ginger if you like. It's almost the same price as a mini beef bowl, but this is a better choice for a satisfying meal. Eating this bowl in the morning is usually enough.【Overview】This chain restaurant is located along Yasukuni Street in Kabukicho. It's open 24 hours, so it's a great place to have a hearty breakfast.

Tokyo, the 1049th restaurant, is Matsuya, the 28th store. It's Matsuya for breakfast. It's around 7:30 on a weekday. This area is still lively late at night. The store on this street is narrow but long in the back. Other stores have a similar layout. The counter extends all the way to the back. Maybe there are many seats. I had the usual delicious Premium Gyudon. The large size had plenty of meat. It was delicious.

I wanted something quick and filling, so I decided to go to Matsuya! Normally, I would order the premium gyudon with raw egg topping, but this time a different item caught my eye on the menu! The "Brown Sauce Hamburger Steak Set" comes with rice and salad for 600 yen! The sauce made with French mushrooms was delicious! It's a flavor that everyone would enjoy! I never expected to find such a tasty hamburger steak set at Matsuya!

On this day, I visited this restaurant for a quick meal before heading to the YouTube program recording at Shinjuku Q Studio. I ordered a regular beef bowl and quickly ate it as I was running late. The taste was reassuringly good, typical of Matsuya quality. I added plenty of shichimi pepper and ginger for extra flavor. Itadakimasu! After finishing my meal, I hurried to Shinjuku Q Studio. I ended up being a little late (sweat).

Shinjuku is home to Kabukicho and along Yasukuni Street, you can find Matsuya Shinjuku Yasukuni Street store on the first floor of a mixed-use building on the right side of the entrance to Sakura Street in Kabukicho. I visited for lunch after 9 years and about 6 months. I chose the Premium Gyudon with raw vegetables and raw egg set mini portion for 450 yen, available from 11 am to 5 pm. They offer white French dressing and sesame dressing for the raw vegetables, but personally, I prefer a mix of barbecue sauce and yakiniku sauce. The gyudon itself is decent, nothing extraordinary.

【6 and a half years later revisit】Even though I pass by this restaurant almost every day, it's been 6 and a half years since I last went inside. It's surprising even to myself. Keeping a log, I realize there are still things that can surprise me. For breakfast, I had the Premium Gyudon Mini for 280 yen. The regular price is 330 yen, but there's a 50 yen discount with a QR code. The "premium" part of this dish is the black pepper. They use black pepper from Kyoto, and generously sprinkle it on the dish. However, the way they provide the black pepper has changed. It now comes in small packets. It was a bit frustrating to have to open multiple packets to get a good amount of black pepper. Despite this, I enjoyed my meal in the end.【Overview】This chain restaurant is located along Yasukuni Street in Kabukicho. It's open 24 hours, making it a convenient spot for a hearty breakfast.

【Revisited after 4 months】Once again, it's breakfast time. They had a sale on regular beef bowls for 240 yen, so I couldn't resist stopping by. And I decided to go for the small size for 200 yen, which was a bit unexpected. With miso soup included, I got a sufficient amount of rice for breakfast, plus a generous serving of pickled ginger, all for just 200 yen. Bravo! It's a great deal!【Overview】This chain restaurant, located along Yasukuni Street in Kabukicho, is a great spot for a hearty breakfast as it's open 24 hours.
