A cafe located along Meiji Street, just a short walk from Higashi-Shinjuku Station. It is situated in the middle of Okubo Street and Shokuan Street. I visited for the first time on a weekday before noon. The cafe is on the first floor of a building and has a traditional Japanese atmosphere with lots of folk crafts and the scent of incense. I was seated at a table near the entrance, but there are also sunken kotatsu tables in the back. The menu is written on a fan-shaped paper. Lunch sets range from 1,000 yen for sandwiches to club sandwiches, egg sandwiches, cinnamon sandwiches, hot sandwiches, and salad sets. Single drinks start from 600 yen for hot coffee. I decided to try the "Clubhouse Sandwich Set for 1,100 yen." It comes with American coffee, and you can upgrade to iced coffee for an additional 100 yen. While waiting, a few more customers arrived, all solo female diners. The coffee was served in a large cup, but it was a bit weak as it was American-style. The sandwich was made with lightly toasted bread filled with ham, tomato, lettuce, and other standard ingredients. It was a decently balanced sandwich with a good amount of fillings. However, it didn't have any standout features and was just average in terms of volume. The price seemed a bit high for what was offered. If it were priced under 1,000 yen, I might consider coming back. They only accept cash payments.

I visited with my colleague for lunch at a restaurant and tried the Clubhouse Sandwich (with American coffee) for 1100 yen. The price seemed a bit high, but the coffee came in a BIG size! Be careful, it's quite hot. The Clubhouse Sandwich was also quite filling, even for men! It had ham, lettuce, and cucumber in one sandwich, and lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise in the other. The bread was thin and crispy. The sandwich was packed with ingredients, so it was a bit difficult to eat, but they provided a wet towel, so it was okay. The sandwich was very delicious. Even though it was lunchtime, I was very full afterwards. Thank you for the meal!

This is a charming coffee shop located on the first floor of an apartment building just outside the B1 exit of Higashi-Shinjuku Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line. It feels more like a traditional local cuisine or small dishes restaurant than a regular coffee shop. The place is run by the husband and wife, and it seems like lunchtime ends at 2 pm, so I was a bit rushed. I ordered a Clubhouse Sandwich Set for 950 yen with an additional 100 yen for an iced coffee. The iced coffee was rich and black, and the aroma from the toaster signaled the arrival of the Clubhouse Sandwich. Despite the thin 5mm bread, the overflowing fillings of vegetables and ham made it quite impressive. It was a refreshing change from the usual thick-cut sandwiches, and the flavors of the fillings and mayonnaise sauce were enjoyable. I was also offered some pear and grapes as a palate cleanser after the meal. I left feeling quite full and satisfied, and I look forward to revisiting this cozy place at a leisurely pace.

Here is Runa-san, who often visits because it's within walking distance from the company. I don't usually go during the typical "lunch break" hours, but if I visit around 12 o'clock, it becomes a relaxing place for working women. Women often order salad lunches... I usually visit around 1 o'clock and often have a hot sandwich where you can choose the fillings. This is the "Ham and Egg" sandwich. It includes both ham and egg sandwiches with cucumber sandwiched together. Comparing them like this, the plates are different depending on the time. This is the "Egg and Apple" sandwich! The square-shaped sandwich is a sweet sandwich with cinnamon apples. The apple is frozen and sandwiched, giving it a cool, crunchy texture when eaten, so it might be better to have it in summer rather than winter. Not every time, but sometimes you get seasonal fruits as a bonus. This day was in June, so it was pineapple, watermelon, and cherries. In February, it was strawberries. The interior of the shop is decorated with many folk crafts, giving a lot of items but still a clean and tidy impression. There are seasonal flowers displayed inside and outside the shop, which is very nice. Behind the counter are many coffee cups. I've only had the American coffee from the lunch set, but since I always see the same coffee cup, I wonder if it's just a part of the cups in use... There is a shared hearth seat at the back of the shop! A hearth seat with fake fish inside. The decorative shelf with folk crafts always reminds me of the shelf in the protagonist's home in Monster Hunter Rise...! It's a bit of a distance from Shinjuku Station, and the entrance may seem a bit intimidating, so it may require some courage to enter...! If you have some time around lunchtime in Shinjuku, it might be nice to take a leisurely walk to Runa-san. ☺️

This is a cafe near Higashi-Shinjuku Station, located between Meiji Street and the area between Shokuan Street and Okubo Street. They are only open for lunch on weekdays. The interior is authentic with folk crafts displayed. I ordered the Clubhouse Sandwich for 950 yen and changed the coffee to iced coffee for an additional 100 yen. The sandwich was filled with plenty of ham, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and mayonnaise. The iced coffee was also rich and had a strong flavor. Overall, it seemed like a unique and interesting cafe.

◆Changing the clubhouse sandwich into an excellent dish, it comes in two varieties: ham with cucumber and mayo, and lettuce with tomato, cucumber, and mayo. The thin slices of bread are lightly toasted. The taste is simple as expected, and the portions are generous, making it satisfying. The iced coffee has a pleasant aroma and a solid taste. The atmosphere of the shop is calming, but since they only serve sandwiches and drinks, it may not be very versatile. ◆Menu for this visit: Clubhouse Sandwich Set (lunch) 1050 yen per person. ◆How to enjoy this shop: A nostalgic coffee shop with many grandfather clocks ticking inside. Surprisingly, it is non-smoking. ◆Ordering: The menu consists only of sandwiches and drinks, with no apparent desserts. The Clubhouse Sandwich Set ordered this time costs 1000 yen, with an additional 50 yen for the iced coffee. ◆Source: Review by Peter Rabbit88 on Tabelog. Thank you for the meal!

The lunch at this place closes at 2:00 pm. There are four counter seats, four 4-person tables, and one reservation-only table for 8 people. The seats are low with cushions, but they are quite firm. The counter is cluttered with what seems to be staff belongings. The interior of the restaurant gives off a warm feeling with folk crafts scattered around. The sound of the TV, classical music, and numerous pendulum clocks ticking all at once create a slightly unsettling atmosphere. I ordered the Clubhouse Sandwich Set for 950 yen for lunch. It consisted of ham, tomato, and lettuce sandwiched between thin bread slices with mayonnaise spread in between. I didn't have high expectations for the food at a cafe, but it was just okay with a mayo flavor. The set only comes with American coffee. The American coffee here tastes more like coffee-flavored hot water. I would have preferred a blend. This place might be good for locals to chat over coffee, but I wouldn't revisit for lunch.

I requested a retro-style Japanese cafe called Lemon Tea. Time flows quietly there. The atmosphere is soothing and very comfortable. There are lots of cute decorations and folk crafts, and an old pendulum clock ticking away. You can see lovely tableware behind the counter. I would like to try their lunch sandwiches, as they looked delicious when other customers were eating them.

Located in Higashi-Shinjuku, this shop is situated along Meiji Street. I have been curious about this place every time I pass by. I tried to visit before but it was closed, however this time I came around 2 PM and it was open. I used it for a meeting, and the interior was decorated with folk crafts, giving it a traditional Japanese house atmosphere. I had an iced coffee, which had a nice aroma and tasted delicious. They also serve sandwiches for lunch. It felt like a nostalgic coffee shop, and I enjoyed my time there. Thank you for the meal.

Closed on weekends, a relatively hard-to-find shop with windows that make it difficult to see inside from the outside. I ordered the Tamago Apple with an iced coffee (+100 yen) for 1000 yen. They don't have ashtrays, but they asked if I wanted to smoke, so it seems smoking is allowed. There are 6 counter seats, 4 tables for 4 people each, and more seats in the back that I couldn't see clearly. It seems like the shop is run by a husband and wife. The background music is classical (major pieces). When I arrived after 1 pm, there was only one regular customer reading a magazine at the counter. The atmosphere of the shop is very retro, like a cafe space in a corner of a folk craft shop in the countryside. Alongside the table seats, there are glass cases filled with folk crafts all the way to the back. There are wall clocks hanging all over the shop, but I couldn't figure out how many there were. On the counter, there are rows of beautiful masks. Inside the counter, there are dozens of lovely cups on display. I should have ordered a hot coffee instead of iced. The sandwich was a small hot sandwich, with the apple being stewed with cinnamon and cream, and the egg with sliced boiled eggs, cucumber, and a lot of mayonnaise. The bread was very thin. The taste was not bad, but it was not enough as there was no salad or side dishes included. Even with the drink, 900 yen was not worth it at all. The atmosphere inside the shop would be great for those who like it, but I was put off by the attitude of the husband(?) (they chatted with the wife(?) but didn't say "welcome" or "thank you"), so I will not be going back.

Today's shop is located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, along a street that you reach by walking from Okubo Station on the JR line. It has a unique and charming atmosphere. I visited during lunchtime and ordered the Clubhouse Sandwich Set for 900 yen. The Clubhouse sandwich was delicious with thick slices of ham and crunchy vegetables, generously topped with mayonnaise sauce. It was quite filling and satisfying. The set also came with American coffee served in a large cup, which was a nice touch. The interior of the shop is cozy and inviting, with a counter filled with various cups, creating a unique atmosphere. The entrance may seem a bit intimidating if you're not familiar with it, but once you step inside, it's a welcoming space where even solo female diners can relax.

Favorite café in Shin-Okubo. The exterior may look a bit shady, and since the menu is not displayed outside, it may be a bit intimidating to enter. However, the interior has an interesting and somewhat suspicious Showa-era atmosphere. The shop is located along Meiji Street. From Metro's Higashi-Shinjuku Station, walk about 200m towards Okubo Street on the left side, and from JR Shin-Okubo Station, walk straight to the right after leaving the station, turn right at Meiji Street, and you will arrive in about 100m. (Visited again in August 2012) Whenever I go, the reliable "Clubhouse Sandwich" never fails to satisfy. (Visited on a weekday in February 2011) This time, I ordered the "Ham Apple" for 850 yen and the "Egg Apple" for 850 yen. ≪Ham Apple≫ 850 yen Thinly sliced cucumbers and ham sandwiched between bread with mayonnaise sauce. It's not just sandwiched, but the ingredients are enclosed and grilled in a hot sandwich style, so the edges of the bread are crispy and the texture is quite good. It is served cut in half. The "Apple" is a cinnamon apple with cream enclosed in the same way. The slightly frozen apple adds to the enjoyable texture. It's very delicious. ≪Egg Apple≫ 850 yen The apple is the same as above. The "Egg" is a type with thinly sliced cucumbers and boiled eggs of moderate softness enclosed. Personally, I prefer this over the ham sandwich. Although the shop is not always bustling, it is difficult to find a delicious place where you can relax and enjoy good food, so I recommend it. Please note that the photo shows half of the egg and ham, but in reality, you will receive either the apple with "ham" or "egg". I ordered the "Clubhouse Sandwich" for 900 yen and the "Salad Set" for 1000 yen, which always comes with coffee. ≪Clubhouse Sandwich≫ The filling is not extravagant, but the thinly spread egg and mayonnaise sauce acidity are nice. The extremely thin sliced cucumbers provide a crunchy texture. The bread is well toasted and has a fragrant aroma. Considering the American and sandwich volume, the cost-performance is good. ≪Salad Set≫ The salad with dressing and toast is served. The asparagus has no hint of bitterness and allows you to savor the flavor of the vegetables. The accompanying cheese is mild. This menu is the most expensive, so they seem to have a focus on vegetables. Furthermore, the fact that only butter is spread on the toast shows their dedication to bread. It is recommended for those who want to experience "simplicity" rather than saying "delicious!" or "stylish!" When you want to feel the retro charm, this is the place to go. The use of wood brick on the floor in the store also shows a retro dedication. Recommended for those who love Showa-era cafes.

※Information as of April 2009.※As of September 2012, it seems that there is no longer a morning set available.----Upon entering the shop, you are greeted with a Japanese-style atmosphere. It feels like a quaint rest area of a traditional hot spring inn. Although not in use, there is a hearth and many nostalgic ornaments on display. When you order the morning set, it comes with hot coffee, a mini salad in a small glass dish, a boiled egg, and buttered toast served on a bamboo basket. While it is a traditional morning set, the ambiance of the shop makes you feel like you are not in the middle of Tokyo. It offers a slightly different experience in Shinjuku Okubo. Give it a try.

Visited for lunch. In terms of the atmosphere of the restaurant... it's more like a "coffee shop" than a "cafe," and "lunch" feels more like "lunch" than just having bread (lol). I ordered the salad set (\1000) and first, they served coffee. It's a big cup so you can enjoy it until the end of your meal. And then came the generous salad and thick toast. At first, I thought, all this for 1000 yen!? But everything was quite filling. It might not be enough for men, but the toast was soft and delicious ❤
