I was curious about this cafe with lovely exterior featuring tiles, ivy, signboard, and awning with letters. It's a cozy and unpretentious cafe run by a motherly woman. It seems to have many regular customers and male patrons. Today, I had curry rice, which tasted like a regular homemade curry. I also noticed they offer a fish set meal on the menu, which caught my interest. I liked the cozy atmosphere of the round table by the window, and I would like to sit there next time.

Visit How Much~♪♪ on April 10, 2022 in Shinjuku Ni-chome. After enjoying a delicious lunch, I walked towards Higashi-Shinjuku station. I wanted to take a break after eating, but in Shinjuku, it's not easy to find a smoking-friendly cafe... or is it? I found "Cafe Marielle" on the first floor of an apartment building as I walked north on Meiji Street from Shinjuku San-chome. There were ashtrays outside the shop, so I assumed it was non-smoking, but to be sure, I asked the owner. It was interesting to see people smoking in front of a smoking-friendly cafe without going in... but I guess that's the norm for smokers. The iced coffee was a bit pricey at 550 yen, but that's expected in places like Shinjuku or Ikebukuro. I was satisfied to have a smoke break! After that, I didn't go to Kabukicho but instead headed from Higashi-Shinjuku to Ueno for some shopping before moving on to the next restaurant! Thank you for the meal.

Stopped by for a post-meal break with a cup of coffee. It's great that smoking is allowed in all seats, which is very much appreciated by smokers. Ordered a "blend coffee" and "toast". The coffee had a light and easy-to-drink taste. The toast, when ordered with a drink, is only ¥300, which is very reasonable. It came with soft toast, a mini salad, and a boiled egg, making it quite a good deal for the price. The homey atmosphere makes it a relaxing space.

I visited this charming cafe that caught my eye before 5:00 PM on August 14, 2021 (Saturday). There is a cigarette vending machine outside and smoking is allowed inside the cafe. Society has been getting narrower for smokers recently, with restrictions like not being able to smoke, limited to electronic cigarettes, or smoking rooms only. For smokers, this cafe is like an oasis. The interior has many sofa seats, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. There is only one staff member who seems to be the motherly figure. The relaxed atmosphere makes it easy to get work done. The restroom is a traditional Japanese style toilet. (laughs) I ordered a coffee and curry set for ¥1,100. The coffee was decent, with a slightly strong acidity, but I think anyone can enjoy it. The curry was a traditional simmered curry with large ingredients and a slightly sweet taste. It suited my preference for a mild flavor. Located in a corner of Shinjuku, it seems to be a place for night workers and people who are clearly doing some shady business (laughs) to relax. It's a recommended cafe for smokers.

If you choose Donbei, things will usually work out - After greeting Yuuna and Togo-san, head over to this place across the street - It has a retro feel like a Showa-era coffee shop with its building and interior showing its age - (It has ashtrays on each table due to the Showa taste) Sit at a table in the back and order a blend (500 yen) - Review: Blend - A blend with a hint of bitterness, giving the impression of drinking coffee while smoking (just an imagination) - The coffee had that kind of taste - And the name of the place kind of feels like a wedding venue, haha"

It really felt like an old-fashioned coffee shop. There were piles of manga, but the way they were scattered around in different volumes gave it a nostalgic feel. I had the hamburger lunch set. An elderly staff member told me that the hamburger was homemade. The homemade hamburger, combined with the staff member, gave me the feeling of eating my mother's home-cooked meal. The portion was a bit small, and I felt it was a little lacking for someone in their prime working years. All seats were smoking seats, and although there were air purifiers installed at each table, they didn't seem to work that well. I loved the Showa era atmosphere. The hamburger had a rich taste with tomato sauce. The coffee was also delicious.

Kabukicho, behind the Shinjuku Toho Building with the prominent Godzilla statue, down the Hanamichi Street towards the City Hall Street, and further down, you will reach the intersection with Meiji Street. On the opposite side of the road, you will find Nissin Food Holdings. If you continue left on Meiji Street towards East Shinjuku, you will come across a charming old-fashioned café. The interior of the café exudes a nostalgic atmosphere, with people reading books while sipping coffee at the counter and others working on their laptops at the tables. The ambiance is relaxed and peaceful. Sitting at the counter, I looked at the menu, but no staff came to take my order. A young woman who was reading suddenly stood up, went to the back of the counter, and informed someone that there was a customer (laughs). Then, an older lady came out to take my order. I originally intended to just have coffee, but I became curious and decided to order the set meal. For the meal, you can choose from options like curry rice, spaghetti, pilaf, etc. Normally, I would have chosen curry rice, but the smell of curry filling the air in this space made me feel a bit uncomfortable, so I decided to go with the old-fashioned spaghetti instead. I chose spaghetti with meat sauce. The old-fashioned meat sauce really suits this atmosphere. As I enjoyed my spaghetti, I was captivated by the sound of the siphon boiling water and the coffee collecting in the flask. The lovely coffee cup and saucer added to the experience as I carefully sipped the hot coffee. It had a slightly acidic taste, but a solid texture and good flavor. Enjoying coffee in such a setting is truly delightful. Next time I feel tired, I will definitely open that door again.

Located on the ground floor of a famous apartment building where Marielle often passes by, this restaurant has always caught her attention with its reputation for delicious food. She finally tried it out and ordered the 900 yen set meal which included ice coffee, pilaf, and salad. The pilaf was a bit on the small side but had a good balance of saltiness and a slightly firm texture that added to its deliciousness. The ice coffee had a rich flavor that was different from what she usually drinks at home.

I like the Showa era vibe. A famous coffee shop in the Shinjuku area. The grandma who runs it is very composed. You can relax and take your time.

I want to come back again.

It is a shop located along Meiji Street. The store has a traditional design that seems to have been around for a long time. You can see the siphon from the counter seats, giving it the feel of an old coffee shop. The menu includes straight coffee, which is priced quite high, typical of Shinjuku. However, I visited during coffee time from 2 to 5 pm, where they had a signboard offering blends, Americanos, and iced coffees for 350 yen. I sat at the counter and ordered a blend. The coffee was made in the kitchen at the back, although I couldn't see the brewing process, it was likely drip brewed. There was no unpleasant bitterness or acidity often found in pre-made coffee, and it had a nice aroma. It was a bit disappointing that it was not a non-smoking establishment, but the atmosphere was relaxed with a wide show program on TV. A few businessmen were also there for a coffee break. I had passed by the shop many times by bus or car, but it was only by walking in that I discovered this hidden gem. Thank you for the meal.

Taking a little break here. It's quite pleasant to relax and sip coffee while reading "Dokura K" or "Shokuking". When you're tired of the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku, it might be nice to relax here. I think the toast or sandwiches at this kind of place are definitely delicious, so I'd like to try them next time. However, the water wasn't tasty... It had that typical taste of city water! But don't worry, the coffee was just fine!
