Celebrated my 700th post by being taken by my senior to a slightly luxurious tempura restaurant. We got off at Shinjuku Sanchome Station and walked a bit to the upper floors of a building! The entrance was grandly designed. We had a luxurious meal starting with tempura being fried right in front of us, starting with shrimp heads, then young ayu... It was a lavish meal. We also had white wine and sake served during the meal. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the feast.

This is a shop located just a short walk from Shinjuku Sanchome Station. In fact, this building is full of delicious restaurants, so I decided to visit this one as well. I wonder if this is the shop run by Tsunahachi? For lunch, there are two course options, as well as other regular menu items available. The interior of the restaurant has a large counter seat, table seats at the back, and even tatami seats. You can see the staff frying tempura at the counter. Let's start with a toast with beer~ The lunch course includes appetizers, sashimi, several types of tempura, a refreshing salad, a choice of tencha-zuke or tempura rice bowl for the main dish, and dessert. I was happy to have seasonal taranome tempura, as well as shrimp tempura, conger eel, white fish, squid, all with crispy coating and tender meat, delicious. In addition to the tempura dipping sauce, there was grated daikon radish with plum flavor, coarse salt, and original wasabi salt. The wasabi salt has a sharp taste and is delicious. The tempura rice bowl was mixed tempura, with plenty of shrimp making it a luxurious dish. The dessert was average. I enjoyed the meal slowly for about an hour. Tempura is best enjoyed at the counter seat, isn't it? Tsunahachi's tempura has a universally appealing coating and dipping sauce, so I think anyone can enjoy it. The cheerful staff made the dining experience pleasant.

I visited this restaurant with my wife. It felt like a new start as they had relocated their store. The dining experience at the counter was lively, while the tables had a more relaxed atmosphere. It seems suitable for various occasions like dates or business meetings. We ordered the Hina course, which had smaller portions, and added some extra dishes later on. The fried sweet potato had a crispy and fragrant skin, which was delicious! The small dried fish also had a satisfying crunch. The prices were reasonable, and overall, it's a great place to enjoy tempura.

We had a meal at the counter with three people. We started with sashimi, which was sea bass and rockfish, it was decent. I couldn't eat shrimp, so I had asparagus instead, which was delicious but I think the fish was better. The person who had the shrimp said it was delicious and sweet, and they were impressed. The tempura that followed was nothing out of the ordinary, the scallops were tasty but average. We added sea urchin, but it was a bit disappointing. For the final rice dish, I didn't order it because I can't eat shrimp, but my son had the tempura rice and said it was very delicious. The restaurant is clean and has a pleasant atmosphere, so I recommend it. Lastly, a magician came and entertained us, it was fun.

It's delicious. I used it to invite my friends, and they were very satisfied. We were lucky because there was a magician on the day, so we got to see magic for free. The food was also very gentle and exquisite. I would like to use it again.

The tempura and other dishes were excellent, with the tempura having a light and crispy batter. Many customers seemed to be there for work-related reasons, but the service from start to finish was polite. The variety of alcohol options was plentiful, and the prices were reasonable. The atmosphere of the restaurant was relaxing and conducive to taking your time.

I passed by the Tsunahachi Honpo store and turned right at the next corner towards Shinjuku Station. After walking for a while, I came across a building on the right side that was entirely occupied by shops. This is where the restaurant had relocated to, on the 5th floor of the T&T Building, occupying one whole floor. Upon entering, I was greeted by the familiar face of the "Tempura Master" Takaharu Nojima, who led me to a seat right in front of the counter. The tempura at this restaurant, led by Takaharu Nojima, is known for using carefully selected seasonal ingredients and adjusting the batter and frying method based on the season, weather, and condition of the ingredients. The restaurant maintains its high-grade positioning. I ordered the "Lunch Chef's Choice Course" which includes 10 pieces of tempura for 6,600 yen (tax included). Today, I opted for the "Maple Course". The meal started with corn tofu topped with shrimp and radish. The tempura included various items such as shrimp head, shrimp roll, young sweetfish from Lake Biwa, wild vegetable, lotus root, conger eel, gaper clam, dance mushroom, shiitake mushroom, and sea eel with eel bone senbei. Each tempura had its unique flavor and texture, and I enjoyed trying different salts and dipping sauces to enhance the taste. The tempura was served with a side of grated daikon radish and a bowl of tempura dipping broth. The meal was satisfying, and I did not have room for additional orders like tempura rice bowl or tempura tea.

I have visited the famous Beijing duck restaurant Quanjude a few times before their relocation, but this was my first visit since they moved to a dining building near Isetan. The tempura fried right in front of you is exceptional. The serving and customer service were appropriate and attentive. Thank you very much. I look forward to enjoying a leisurely dinner next time.

In March 2022, the restaurant relocated and reopened after renovation in a nearby building. Previously, it operated in one building for 5 years (which I visited 11 times), but due to the impact of COVID-19, they could not maintain the same scale. It seemed to be thriving before. The reception area on the 1st floor used to have a high-class feel, but they have made efforts to create a nice atmosphere. The interior is spacious and open, with a good vibe. However, the quality of the tempura has deteriorated unbelievably. The oil is not fresh at all. It seems like the same chef as before is frying (I may be mistaken), but what could be the reason for this? Considering the price, it's regrettable. I will give it one more chance after some time.

On Saturday, I made a lunch reservation for myself before running errands. The meal started with an appetizer of bonito sashimi in ponzu sauce, which was my first time trying, followed by tempura. The bonito was served raw, not as tataki, but it was very delicious. The tempura had a light batter, allowing the flavors of the ingredients to shine through. Everything was very tasty, so I decided to add shrimp and three types of vegetables before ordering the tempura rice bowl. Among the taranome, butterbur sprouts, and asparagus, the butterbur sprouts stood out as particularly delicious. The shrimp was larger and more satisfying compared to the shrimp roll served at the beginning of the course. I ordered a black oolong tea to drink. The total bill came to 7050 yen, but I felt it was worth it for the taste and quality. The only downside was that the chef at the counter did not bid farewell as I left.
