On a weekend afternoon, my family and I stopped by for lunch at a restaurant in Shinjuku Takashimaya while shopping. The restaurant is located on the 13th floor of the Takashimaya building, so we had a great view of Shinjuku Station from our window seat. We chose this restaurant not only for its location but also for the excellent hospitality and satisfying meal. I can't remember the last time I had seconds (which were free) like this... Thank you for the delicious meal!

I had some free time, so I decided to have a lunch drink with a friend. I realized I hadn't been to a beef tongue restaurant recently, so I followed my craving and decided on Negishi. We chose this place because it seemed not too crowded and we could have a drink in the afternoon. The prices seem to have gone up though. We saw some young people leave after seeing the prices on the menu, but we decided to go in. There was seating at the counter, which was good for those in a hurry. Even though it was after the lunch rush, it wasn't too crowded. We ordered chicken and thick-sliced beef tongue, which were both delicious. The chicken came out quickly and was tasty, but the portions were a bit small. The beef tongue was thick-cut, which was a nice change from the usual thin slices. It may not be as good as other top-notch beef tongue restaurants, but it was still delicious. However, considering the price, it felt a bit expensive if you wanted to eat a lot. It's best to have some barley rice and soup to go with the meal. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

This time, it was the last meal with my wife during this visit to Japan. She had some business in Yotsuya, so we unusually met in Shinjuku. There are many Negishi restaurants in the Shinjuku area, where I used to eat often during my salaryman days. Back then, it was affordable, but now it's surprisingly high-end cuisine. However, the meat is delicious and there is plenty of grated yam. The barley rice and soup are also excellent. It's a taste I want to have again when I come back to Japan. (It's not as expensive if you eat it in Indonesia)

I have a craving for thick-cut beef tongue on a regular basis, and since Odakyu Department Store is close by, I have used it a few times, but now it is under construction. By chance, I found Negishi at Takashimaya's restaurant area and decided to go in. I prefer thick cuts over thin ones, so I ordered the Shiro-tan set for 2900 yen. Even though it's a set, getting 4 thick slices of tongue for 3000 yen is quite a high-end restaurant setting. It comes with grated yam and the soup is undeniably delicious. The small dishes with three items were also a pleasant surprise, especially the yuba. I am definitely a fan of thick-cut tongue, and this meal left me completely satisfied. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The negishi (green onion beef tongue) at each store varies greatly in menu and price range. The negishi at the Shinjuku Takashimaya store looks like this: the mischievous set costs around 2000 yen, while the three types of negishi platter is around 2500 yen. Compared to 10 years ago, the price of negishi has increased and the taste seems to have become somewhat mediocre.

Project H - A World of Self-Satisfaction (Only those who understand will understand) (^ ^ A certain idol group member ate at a chain restaurant. I thought it was a shop from Sendai, but it turns out it's in Shinjuku (^ ^; I was planning to go to a nearby shop, but I didn't have the chance... I had to meet an important person, so I got off at Shinjuku to buy a souvenir, and after finishing shopping, I went up to the 13th floor and came here. It's way over my lunch budget, but I chose this place because... I received a gift card from my workplace as a benefit, so let's use it on occasions like this (^ ^ Past 1 pm, 5 groups waiting. Even solo customers are seated at a table for two without using the counter. But I sat at a table parallel to the aisle. I would have been more comfortable at the counter, where I could see them grilling in front of me... The menu at this place seems to be original compared to other shops. From the additional special menu on the table, I ordered the "Naughty Set" and a bottle of beer (^ ^ The beer arrived quickly, and the food was served in less than 10 minutes. The "Naughty Set" (2000 yen) included 2 thick slices of beef tongue, 2 thin slices of beef tongue, 1 piece of beef loin, 1 piece of miso pork, 1 piece of spicy pork, barley rice, grated yam, tail soup, and 3 small side dishes. The thick slices of beef tongue were juicy and had that "I'm eating beef tongue!" feeling. The thin slices were similar to the cheap yakiniku restaurant's thin beef tongue in texture... but the flavor is definitely better here. The pork was a great accompaniment to the rice, as the beef tongue alone might not have been enough. There was a good amount of barley rice, and the meat went well with it. You could get a refill of rice, so I asked for the same amount and topped it with grated yam for the second serving. I could easily finish the grated yam rice in one go, I wonder if I can get another serving? But I've eaten too much already (^^; The veteran staff overseeing the floor was attentive. When I was about to take the last bite to aim for a refill, they would call out to me. The trainee with a name tag was also very polite and diligent. It's not just because it's in Takashimaya, it must be this restaurant's policy. My stomach is full, but I should start moving on to the next plan soon.

When it comes to beef tongue, Negishi is the place to go, but it's actually not originally from Sendai - the first store was opened in Shinjuku Kabukicho in 1981. I visited with a friend and the hospitality at this restaurant is amazing. In a good way, it's really amazing. There are a lot of customers with children (including us) and the care for mothers and children is incredible. It's like they have some kind of certification. Let's get back to the main topic. I ordered the "Negishi set (1950 yen)" which comes with 5 slices of white tongue. The Negishi uses the tongue part of the beef tongue. It has a good chewiness and just the right amount of tenderness, and it's simply delicious. The grated yam made from Yamato potatoes and the rice made by contracted farmers from the Aizu region are also perfect. Since there is no lunch set available, if you're visiting with children or if you're looking to save money, it's a good idea to visit other restaurants for those options.

Today I had dinner in Shinjuku. The state of emergency has been lifted and the business hours are until 10 pm with last order at 9 pm. I was hesitant but ended up ordering the reliable set of three thick slices of beef tongue for 2,100 yen. The food arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering! The beef tongue looked delicious, but the grated yam and barley rice were even more appetizing. The barley rice is refillable so I started with the beef tongue and then had a bowl of barley rice. The thick slices of beef tongue were satisfying and tasty! I went for a refill of barley rice. The combination of grated yam, barley rice, tail soup, and beef tongue was really delicious. It was the ultimate combination! It was really tasty! However, it was a bit pricey. I guess it's because the price of beef tongue has gone up... Thank you for the delicious beef tongue meal!

I usually go for the thick-cut steak, but sometimes I order the three variety set. This set has a nice visual appeal! The names like Ganko-chan, Shiro-tan, and Negishi sound like characters from a Showa-era school anime. The barley rice, grated yam, and tail soup are always delicious. The interior of the restaurant feels like a department store.

I saw this negishi place everywhere and I thought it was just a cheap set meal restaurant. A friend had mentioned it was delicious so I wanted to try it once. Located on the 13th floor of Shinjuku Takashimaya. I arrived 50 minutes before closing time because the highway bus was delayed due to traffic. Among the other restaurants on the same floor that had already closed for the night, this place had its last order 30 minutes before closing. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, probably because it was inside Takashimaya. I ordered the standard negishi set meal. My companion tried to order something else but it was sold out. It cost 1750 yen, which didn't feel expensive for dinner, but the portion of 5 thinly sliced beef tongue pieces seemed a bit small, especially for men. They offered free refills of barley rice, but I doubt many women would take advantage of that. I finished eating in about 10 minutes because I was in a hurry to leave. Overall, the meat was delicious and I was satisfied with the experience.

I went to have lunch before shopping in Shinjuku. It was a weekend, so the restaurants in Takashimaya were crowded, but Negishi was empty. It was my first time at Negishi. I ordered the beef tongue and Japanese-style stew set (tax included 2450 yen). Since there was no lunch menu, I had a hard time deciding what to order. The thick and tender beef tongue was delicious, and I also loved the barley rice with free refills. However, the Japanese-style stew was not to my taste as it had a lot of crunchy onions (which I don't like). The set also came with pickles, yuba, salad, grated yam, and dessert, making it look luxurious. My friend ordered the Shiro 4 set (tax included 2600 yen), which I think is the most expensive set. But the stew set was definitely more extravagant. The restaurant was clean, and the staff were very polite and kind. It's a shame that Takashimaya doesn't have a lunch menu, but I would like to go back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

I was shopping in Shinjuku and decided to have an early lunch before the lines got too long. It had been a while since I had eaten at Negishi, so I chose the beef tongue set. When I looked at the menu, I noticed that the prices were higher than I remembered. I wondered if they had raised their prices. Later, I found out online that there are two types of prices for the set. It was a bit confusing. The service was pretty good, with a high school or college-aged girl serving us. The customer service was quite attentive, especially for a chain restaurant. The taste was average, but the pickles that came with it were delicious. The grated yam seemed to be processed in a blender, as there were no visible pieces of yam. Personally, I prefer it when there are some finely grated yam pieces, like when it is grated with a grater. When I was a student, I used to work part-time at a soba restaurant to earn money for school. I have a unique trait where I don't get itchy when I touch Japanese yam, so whenever I worked, I always grated the Japanese yam myself. Despite the effort put in by the pickles and the waitresses, I still feel like the cost performance is not great.

I went to the Disney Store at Takashimaya to buy tickets in advance for a trip to DisneySea with my children, but when I arrived, I was told that ticket sales had ended five years ago. I felt embarrassed and my excitement plummeted. I decided to regain my composure and since I was hungry, I decided to have lunch before heading home. I wandered around the restaurant floors on the 12th to 14th floors. I was prepared for the fact that lunch would be expensive, especially considering the big expenses at Disney over the weekend. I ended up at the reliable Negishi restaurant on the 13th floor. I was seated at a table for four by myself after a 5-minute wait. I was happy with the spacious seat. This was my first time trying Negishi at Takashimaya, and I was surprised by the department store prices. I ordered the cheapest option, the "Ganko-chan set" for 1550 yen (tax included). Although I don't usually order Ganko-chan, I couldn't resist the price. The Ganko-chan set arrived with three small dishes (miso nanban, osinko, yuba, and turnip osinko), typical of Negishi. It was definitely worth the department store price, but I found the Ganko-chan to be a bit tough this time. However, when I dipped it in soy sauce and ate it with grated yam, it was delicious. The service was excellent as always. (I looked it up later and found out that the regular price is 1200 yen, so the two extra small dishes make it 350 yen more expensive.)

I ended up in Shinjuku for dinner, but it was raining and walking around aimlessly was difficult, so I decided to choose a restaurant in the restaurant district! I arrived at Takashimaya and ended up at Negishi. I was surprised when I walked in. The menu and prices were different from places I had been to before (Ikebukuro, Yokohama, etc.)! The soup and tororo were the same, but did they used to serve these small side dishes? It's not necessary, but... that was my impression. I just wanted to enjoy the beef tongue and tororo rice, so I thought I might try going to a different branch in the future.

I used to go to Negishi in Akasaka, but this time I visited Negishi in Shinjuku Takashimaya. I ordered the white tongue and it was delicious! I definitely want to come back again. The option for rice refills was very much appreciated! The combination of "beef tongue + barley rice + grated yam" was excellent! It was easy to eat and my friend who came with me was also very satisfied. The night view of Shinjuku from the window was beautiful.

I wanted to eat Aoba at Marui Annex, but it had turned into "Tsukemen TETSU" without me realizing it... Shocked by the absence of Aoba, my ramen enthusiasm plummeted. After wandering around, I ended up at Negishi. The table setting was baby stroller-friendly, and the reliably delicious Shirotan thick-cut noodles reaffirmed my choice. The reassurance of having a nursing room on the 1st floor made me realize that dining out with children is safest at department stores.

We ordered a recommended set meal with white tongue and other dishes. After 10 years, I went to "Negishi" on a Friday night and lined up, but luckily got a seat at the counter without much wait. There was a staff member in front of me, who quickly took my order once I decided on the menu. I ordered the beef tongue three kinds set and Chorogi salad. The dressing on the Chorogi salad was delicious. I learned for the first time that beef tongue is called differently depending on the cut. I enjoyed comparing the two different broths and different thicknesses of white tongue. Both the thin and thick meat were tender and delicious. The yam, barley rice, and consistent deliciousness were great. I was happy that I could get a rice refill just like before.
