I visited a restaurant behind Shinjuku Alta on a holiday around 2:00 PM. I waited for about 15 minutes with 3 other groups. It was a scorching hot day in July, and it was quite hot inside the restaurant due to the use of fire. The smoke made the visibility hazy, and as someone who is sensitive to smoke, my eyes started stinging after 30 minutes. Maybe it's because I don't wear glasses? But I'm sure people who are not used to such experiences will be fine. The staff who guided us to our table were friendly, kind, and lovely. They even recommended a refreshing spray for after the meal, which was very thoughtful. I ordered the Pork Cutlet Set with one cutlet (130g) for ¥1,630, which came with three side dishes - mentaiko (spicy cod roe), pickles, and bracken rice cake. It was a nice set. The potato salad and grated yam were delicious. The pork cutlet was served rare and you had to cook it yourself at the table, which was entertaining and fun. The meat of the pork cutlet seemed to be processed with injections? It lacked the taste and texture of pork, and was quite oily and soft. It's not my favorite type, but considering the size of the pork cutlet and the price, it's reasonable.

Visited for lunch on a national holiday. I had the beef cutlet set meal with three side dishes. The beef cutlet was lightly fried and rare inside. It was served on a hot stone plate heated with solid fuel, allowing you to cook it to your liking and enjoy it with soy sauce, wasabi soy sauce, wasabi sauce, salt, etc. I like to lightly cook both sides and eat it with wasabi and salt. The grated yam side dish was already seasoned and delicious. Just this alone seems like it would be enough for a bowl of rice. By the way, the rice was barley rice, and you can get a free refill. The cod roe side dish was served in a mashed state, which looked unappealing, but the taste was delicious. This alone also seems like it would be enough for a bowl of rice. The bracken rice cake side dish was average. When ordering, the staff asked if I wanted side dishes and without further clarification, three were served. Each side dish can be chosen for an additional 100 yen, so be careful if you don't want any. There was a notice about eating quietly inside the restaurant as a COVID-19 measure. However, because the restaurant was quiet, I could hear the staff's conversation clearly, and it wasn't particularly pleasant. I hope they improve the service aspect such as the atmosphere of the restaurant and explanations when ordering. When I entered, there was only one person waiting, but when I left, there was a line forming. Despite having multiple locations, it seems to be quite popular. Thank you for the meal!

I enjoy being able to adjust the warmth by roasting the stone myself while eating cabbage. It's nice to have seconds of cabbage, and the dressing is also excellent. I prefer sitting at the counter. I sometimes remember it and feel like going back. You go down to the basement from a narrow alley right behind Alta.

I visited "Gyukatsu Motomura Shinjuku Alta Ura-ten" located in Shinjuku 3-chome, Shinjuku-ku. It is located in the basement of the Yubita Building. I suddenly felt like eating katsu, so I looked it up and visited. It was kind of disappointing... Maybe because it's beef katsu, but it was dry and not very tasty.

Today's lunch check-in here!! Mr. Gyukatsu Motomura. I had been wanting to come here for a while but kept forgetting (´-ω-`) I went down the stairs and stormed into this shop in Chika! It was after 2:00 PM, so no guests at this time. I ordered... I forgot the name (о´∀`о) It was gyukatsu with agedashi that you can turn into ochazuke. It arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering! So fast~♪♪ Rice, miso soup, and cabbage, you can get a refill on one of them. But the portion was quite big, so I didn't get a refill. Now, onto the food. The gyukatsu was tender. It was nice that you could adjust the cooking level on the teppan in front of you. I had it default in the beginning and then grilled it to my liking. When I had 4 pieces left, I finally turned it into agedashi ochazuke and dipped the gyukatsu in! Hmm... it didn't quite go well (´-ω-`) I prefer it as it is. I'm full! Thank you for the meal!

Located in B1 near Acacia, Motomura is a hidden gem in the Shinjuku area. I tried their 130g beef cutlet set for 1300 yen and it was served promptly. The cutlet was cooked perfectly and the speed of service was impressive. The restaurant offers free refills for rice, miso soup, or cabbage, which was a pleasant surprise. The customer service was very polite and I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of this underground restaurant. Overall, Motomura is a great choice for a quick and satisfying meal in Shinjuku.

I went around 7:30 pm on a regular day and it was empty, but soon customers started coming in and it became full. I ordered the "Beef Cutlet Rice Set 130g" for 1400 yen and it was brought to me quickly. It was rare, so I got to cook it myself, which was exciting. There were various condiments like salt, wasabi, dressing, etc. I personally liked the rock salt. At first, I thought the portion was small, but it was quite filling. You can get refills of rice, cabbage, or miso soup, but they never arrived. The meat was very tender and juicy, and really delicious. The red miso soup that came with it was also excellent. It was my first time trying beef cutlet, but I definitely want to have it again. It was a bit of a splurge since meals over 1000 yen are not something I usually go for, but it was worth it as a treat.

Visited Shinjuku with a friend in November 2021 after a long time, but the original shop we planned to go to was closed due to COVID, so we had to change our plans suddenly (´;ω;`). It had been a year and a half since I last visited Shinjuku, and the city felt quite lonely with many buildings closed or vacant due to the pandemic (;ω;). I wonder when the lively atmosphere will return to the area. Anyway, since our original destination was no longer there, we decided to come to this restaurant instead, and it turned out to be the right choice)^o^(. The interior had only one table available, and it was almost full. As a party of two, we were seated there and ordered the recommended set of beef cutlet and tongue cutlet (we splurged a bit). The food arrived in less than 5 minutes. So fast! The beef cutlet melted in my mouth when I took a bite, and I like it rare, so it was just lightly seared. Next, the tongue cutlet. It was my first time trying it, and it had a good chewiness with rich flavor and sweetness. The cabbage side dish was crunchy and delicious without any unpleasant smell. The miso soup was a bit too strong in flavor, but overall, this meal was definitely worth coming back for! I had a delicious beef cutlet after a long time. Thank you for the meal(=´∀`)

I tried the tonkatsu at Motomura-san because I was not impressed with the katsugyu. I opted for a half portion. The result was not to my liking, but unlike the katsugyu, it didn't have any unpleasant odor. Being able to adjust the doneness on the hot stone was a good feature. I prefer my tonkatsu well-done! I wonder when they started serving mentaiko with it.

Today work ran late, so let's have a light dinner with non-alcoholic drinks! While the Western cuisine behind Shinjuku Alta is good, I spotted a rare find - beef cutlets! Oh! It's been a while since I had beef cutlets! And they have tongue cutlets too! Beef tongue cutlets! The set with two pieces caught my eye! So, I decided to order it! Let's go! The set includes two pieces of beef cutlets with grated yam for 1800 yen! Each piece is 100 grams and has a rare finish with a thin crust! It's moist and tender even when eaten as is! You can enjoy it with wasabi soy sauce or their special wasabi sauce! But now, they finish it lightly with a torch before serving! Well, it might be a bit rare for some people, but I'm okay with it as is! Well, I lightly seared it before eating, and oh! The fat from the meat starts to melt, adding another layer of flavor! And the tongue cutlet, with one piece and two cuts as a bonus! They lightly finish the surface with a torch as well! It has a milky flavor that's quite nice! Eating it with grated yam rice and red miso soup is a perfect match for the beef cutlets! The dressing on the cabbage has a rich taste, and it seems to be a perfect match! I ended up eating more than usual! I used to think beef cutlets were for tourists, but I'm satisfied with the rare taste and slight evolution of the dish! Having a hearty dinner with non-alcoholic drinks once in a while is quite enjoyable!

There is a specialty store for beef cutlet that is not found in Ibaraki. It seems to be quite popular, so I was prepared to wait in line, but there were no other customers, possibly due to the rain that day. I often eat tonkatsu, but this might be my first time trying beef cutlet. I placed my order and the food arrived in about 10 minutes, surprisingly fast. The outside of the meat was crispy fried, but the inside was rare. I cooked the rare part on the hot stone plate and ate it with my favorite sauce. Wasabi soy sauce was the most delicious. Later, some foreign tourists seemed to come in. I had a rare and delicious experience with beef cutlet.

I went to have lunch in Shinjuku and found the restaurant I originally planned to go to had an unexpectedly long line. Not wanting to wait, I wandered around and stumbled upon a place called "Motomura" that I had enjoyed before at the Hamamatsucho branch. It was located in the basement of a building, and when I peeked in from the first floor staircase, I didn't see any long lines, so I thought I could get a meal quickly. However, when I went downstairs, I found a line forming from B2 to B1 (the ascending staircase). Feeling a bit disappointed, I decided to join the line, thinking it wouldn't be too long since there were only about four groups ahead of me. But my expectation was completely wrong, and I ended up waiting for quite a while (over 30 minutes). While waiting, I was given the menu. Basically, you choose the amount of beef cutlet (130g or 260g). However, you have to select at least one side dish, which makes the set more expensive. I felt that 130g wouldn't be enough, so I opted for the 260g beef cutlet with grated yam. Of course, I chose the set with the cheapest side dish (¥2,300). The beef cutlet itself was thinly breaded rare meat, and it was fun to grill it on the individual hot plate and eat it with two kinds of sauce. However, I got a bit bored halfway through. The meat was served in multiples of 130g, so it was either not enough at 130g or too much at 260g. It's a restaurant with a certain level of customer spending, yet not accepting credit cards was a bit disappointing.

I tried the style of grilling the meat myself, and it was fatty and had a fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It cost 1500 yen for 130g of meat with rice, and you can have unlimited rice refills. The price is the same for both lunch and dinner. However, as someone who doesn't eat much for dinner, it was tough to finish towards the end. But it was really delicious! I want to go back for lunch next time! The restaurant is located in front of a maid cafe, so it's easy to find. I arrived around 7 pm and only had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated, but by 8 pm, there was a line forming.

I used it as an early dinner and it was great. I had been prepared for a long line, as I had experienced at another branch during lunchtime, but this time I was seated right away. The rareness of the beef cutlet was perfect, making me feel almost guilty for finishing it all because it was so delicious.

I went there for the first time. It was delicious to see it grilled right in front of me and eat it! The meat was light and the batter was thin, so it seemed like you could eat as much as you wanted. I wish I had known about it earlier! I want to go again!
