I was lured in by the sign outside the restaurant and decided to stop by. I usually have cup noodles and convenience store bread for lunch at work every day, so I treated myself to a luxurious meal of three kinds of yakiniku (beef kalbi, pork loin, beef tongue) and barley rice with grated yam (Blacky Triple ¥1,200). Considering the era of price increases, I think this price is good. I believe it has been decades since I last had barley rice with grated yam, so I really enjoyed it. I would like to try barley rice with grated yam again at another restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

This time, breaking away from the fixed idea that negishi is synonymous with beef tongue, I tried the Pork Miso Yaki set meal for 1100 yen with added grated yam, the Twin Grated Yam! The miso-marinated pork, made with decent pork meat, was grilled to perfection with a nice sear, allowing you to enjoy the flavorful fatty parts easily. The miso had a hint of spiciness that whetted the appetite. This dish offers a satisfying combination of quality and price, making it something I would definitely want to come back for.

This is a well-known chain of beef tongue restaurants. Most of the stores are located underground for some reason. Despite that, they manage to thrive probably because they have many passionate fans. This particular store seems to attract a lot of female customers due to its location. I tried the white tongue set for 2,500 yen. It was delicious, but I can't help but feel it's a bit pricey for a chain restaurant. The beef tongue was thick, tender, and tasty, and I really enjoyed the barley rice as well. Overall, I was satisfied, but it still felt a bit expensive for a chain restaurant. I will probably go back again though. Thank you for the meal.

When it gets hot, I crave for tororo! When it comes to beef tongue, I think of Negishi. I've been to the Park Avenue branch before, but this was my first time at the Center Street branch. It's located on the basement floor next to McDonald's. There are counter seats and table seats, and since it was past the lunch peak hours, I was told to sit wherever I liked. I chose the counter seat. The counter seat felt more spacious compared to the Park Avenue branch.
Marune Set 1,300 yen: Negishi has been in business since 1981 and is celebrating its 40th anniversary, so I decided to try the combination set from when Negishi was first established.
- Thinly sliced white tongue 3 pieces
- Thinly sliced red tongue 2 pieces
Comes with barley rice, tail soup, pickles, miso nanban, and tororo.
White tongue thick slice 450 yen: My friend always orders this, so I decided to try it. As expected, Negishi is delicious! The barley rice was so delicious that I had seconds! For the second serving, I enjoyed it as tororo rice. I thought I could eat barley rice forever if I added a little dashi soy sauce on top. The thick slice white tongue was indeed tender and delicious! The thinly sliced one is also delicious, but the thick slice is something else. The staff were very attentive, constantly refilling the barley tea. Indeed, in summer, beef tongue, tororo, and barley rice are the best. I received the power of Negishi! I paid with my Suica card.

In Shibuya Center Street, there is a chain restaurant called Negishi that specializes in beef tongue. This time, I ordered mini Ganko-chan, which is a bite-sized mini beef tongue, curry, and barley rice at this store. The curry contains chunks of meat. When you order barley rice, you can have unlimited refills, so you can have several servings of rice with the curry. The curry is on the sweeter side, but it is delicious, and the meat is thick and tender. The beef tongue is carefully grilled, has a good elasticity, and is delicious. It has a nice flavor. Negishi is definitely delicious.

I arrived at the restaurant around 8:00 PM after finishing work. I was craving some meat, so I went to the beef tongue chain restaurant Negishi! The restaurant had counter seats and table seats, and I chose a table seat. The table seats can accommodate 2 to 4 people. At the counter seats, you can watch the beef tongue being grilled, which is also enjoyable. I ordered the "Triple Set" for ¥1000, which included beef loin (2 pieces), pork loin (1 piece), and spicy pork (2 pieces) as the main dishes. Rice is free for refills! You can have as much rice as you want with the meat! The grated yam was also very delicious! However, I was a bit disappointed when my rice was taken away while I was looking at my phone in the middle of the meal. I wish they had waited until I finished eating before clearing the rice!

Negishi-san has been around for a long time, and I occasionally use it. On this day, I ordered the Triple Set for 1000 yen. The taste is consistent, which is good. The combination of barley rice and grated yam is also good! Barley rice is refillable, so I end up getting seconds. The tail soup has a gentle taste. I hope this shop stays the same.

Negishi is a place I like and I often go to different locations, but this time was my first visit to the Center-gai store. I ordered the pork loin set. It was after the tax increase, so the price had gone up. I prefer when prices are displayed without tax during times like this. Taxes, insurance premiums, and minimum wages all go up, but the one thing that doesn't go up is my salary... Negishi is a kind restaurant that offers a "free refill service" for people like me. I always end up getting a refill because they have grated yam.

When I say "let's grab a bite to eat," this is the place I choose. It's a well-known specialty restaurant for beef tongue. But my favorite is the Blacky set meal. The sweet sauce and tender beef go perfectly with the barley rice. Of course, I always top it off with plenty of grated yam. You can have unlimited rice refills here, and I usually end up eating about two bowls. The tail soup has a gentle flavor and a nice aroma, and I love the pickles that come with it! What's amazing about this place is the impeccable service provided by the staff. They are attentive to the timing of refills, orders, and their language is polite. Everything about the service is top-notch, making it a pleasant experience to eat here. I'm likely to continue visiting this place as always.

Category: [Tokyo] Set Meal ☆ Shibuya Lunch
Over 25 years ago, when I first came to Tokyo, I was amazed by the delicious food I found. It wasn't just this one restaurant, but others like Nogata Hope, Ginza Deli, and Keika Ramen. However, this restaurant holds a special place in my heart.
Negishi Shibuya Center-gai Branch has three locations in Shibuya, and now they have a new branch with a new menu item: Veal Tongue Set for 1300 yen. Despite the slightly higher prices back then, I kept coming back for the free extra serving of barley rice. But it wasn't just because it was free. There was a reason why I kept getting extra rice since I was a child. It was because it made my mother happy.
Even though there were times when my mother scolded me for eating too much, I was determined to keep eating so as not to disappoint or worry her. Seeing my mother smile while saying, "You're still eating? We're out of rice!" was my motivation. It was my greatest joy to see her happy because of my extra servings.
Every time I asked for an extra serving, I would loudly say, "Thank you for the extra serving!" and all the staff would cheer, "Thank you!" The happiness I felt made me want to call my mother every time I got an extra serving. Negishi is second only to my mother in terms of how much I love it.

Located in the basement of the Doutor in Shibuya's Center Gai, there is a restaurant called Shinjuku Negishi, which has become quite popular in Shibuya. This new establishment has a small but clean and inviting interior, making it easy for women to enter. The staff exudes cleanliness as well. I recommend trying the veal tongue set meal. The veal tongue was tender and lacked the typical beef flavor, making it easy to eat. Some may find it lacking in flavor, but overall, it is a satisfying veal tongue set meal chain that lives up to expectations.

On Saturday, I went to Shibuya to see the annual Blue Cave event for the third time. After that, I searched for a place to have dinner in Shibuya, but all the places I had saved were dessert places. I couldn't find a specific place that stood out to me, so I stumbled upon a restaurant while walking in Center Street. My friend, who I had visited the Park Street location with before and liked, suggested going to Negishi again. The Park Street location felt a bit cramped, so I decided to check out this new location. The interior was quite nice and spacious. I ordered the Shirotan Set, which includes thickly sliced beef tongue, barley rice, grated yam, tail soup, and pickled miso. I always order this set whenever I visit Negishi. I have been a fan of Negishi since my early twenties, and I have visited various locations, but my recent favorite is the Yurakucho location. This Shibuya location is the fourth one around Shibuya Station. The beef tongue this time was a bit thinner and overcooked, making it a bit tough, which was disappointing. However, everything else was delicious as usual. The service was friendly, just like in other locations I have visited. If it was my first time trying Negishi and I had this beef tongue, I might not come back, but since I am a long-time fan, I will continue to support them. I particularly liked the interior of this new location, so I might visit here again next year after the Blue Cave event.

There are three Negishi restaurants in Shibuya. The one in the center of Center Gai is a bit hard to find because it's underground, but you can look for the sign. The interior is not very spacious but bright, and they have good COVID-19 measures in place. It's easy to dine alone for lunch. I had the standard set, which goes well with barley rice and grated yam. You can have unlimited rice refills. They offer a variety of beef tongue cuts, from thick to thin, and you can order individual items if you need more. I recommend the thicker cuts. The staff are very friendly and attentive, always refilling your tea.

Negishi had reopened. I had Negishi's lunch after a long time, and I ate a hearty meal. It was delicious.
