I went to a restaurant in a building near Asakusa Station. It was around 2 PM and I had to wait for about 30 minutes. The menu had options to choose rice and tororo from three different kinds. I chose rice with small dried baby sardines and tororo with plum flavor. The small size of tororo was just the right amount!

Around 1 pm on Sunday, two of us visited the restaurant without a reservation during lunchtime but were seated right away. We ordered the tonkatsu set meal with dashi tororo. It was nice to see the rice served in a traditional wooden rice container, and they offer free refills. The dashi tororo, as the name suggests, is tororo with dashi broth, which goes really well with the rice. Although refills for the tororo are not free, unlike Asakusa mugitoro where they have a high-priced buffet on weekends and long lines, this place is more suitable for regular dining.

Saturday around 6:30 pm. It's rare for you to want to go to a restaurant for the barley rice. Alright, let's go there. Asakusa Matsuya's 7th floor restaurant area. It's my first time here. The restaurant area has a bit of a Showa era vibe. So, let's go to Toromugi here. There is one group waiting, three older ladies. We write our names and wait. About 15 minutes later, we enter. It's been just over 2 months since I left the hospital. Can you eat normally now? Almost? That's good. What are you going to eat? Chicken and chunky vegetable with black vinegar sauce? Oh, I agree. Then I'll go for... soft pork cutlet and salt koji fried chicken! Here it comes! Oh, that set meal over there has a lot of side dishes and looks luxurious. Mine is not bad either, but visually, it's not as good. Let's dig into the tororo mixed with rice! Slurp... Delicious! Sometimes eating barley rice is strangely delicious, right? I definitely want a refill! The pork cutlet is soft and delicious! The chicken also has a nice texture. This fried food with tororo rice goes well together. I could eat as many bowls of rice as I want. I guess tororo makes it easy to swallow, so you chose this restaurant? Not really, ah, I see. It just happened. The side dishes are small and easy to eat, right? Let's get a refill right away! Um... just half, please. Yes, even though they're small, it's still a lot when it's in a rice bowl. But you can keep eating more and more of the rice, tororo, and pickles. Yeah, I have a big appetite. Oh, you finished your meal too. I'm glad, I feel relieved. Your weight still hasn't returned at all. You want to maintain it like this? No, you have to go back to your pre-hospital weight. Alright, thank you for the meal!

I stopped by during my visit to Asakusa's power spots. It was a busy time on a weekend afternoon, so I had to wait for about 10 minutes before being seated. I finally got in and was able to choose my rice dish, so I went with the shiso and small dried fish rice. There were plenty of side dishes, allowing me to try a variety of small portions. The pork cutlet set costs ¥1280 and comes with a choice of rice – barley rice or rice with small dried fish. You can choose from three sizes: large, medium, or small. The pork cutlet is very chewy and not juicy enough. The cute hand towel is a nice touch.

Asakusa Chachatto Lunch PART2. This restaurant on the 7th floor of Matsuya specializes in tororo rice. It seems to be a chain restaurant. The restaurant is easy to enter even for one person. I ordered the Kyoto-style deep-fried tofu. I ordered the tororo barley rice with dashi tororo and barley rice. You can have unlimited refills of rice. The quality is a bit tastier and milder than Ootoya, with a gentle taste. I didn't have high expectations, but it was very much appreciated when in a hurry. Depending on the purpose, it may be worth a try.

I visited this restaurant for dinner while strolling around Asakusa. The prices written in the showcase are for dishes without grated yam, and if you add grated yam, the price goes up a bit. Since this place is known for its grated yam, I was looking forward to trying it. When I looked at the menu, I was a bit surprised, but the rice was refillable and the portion was decent, so it wasn't bad. The rice was a bit watery and mushy, but maybe it was just a one-time thing. I don't usually eat barley rice at home, so regardless, I was able to enjoy the grated yam mochi barley rice, which was good!

It's hard to say for lunch, but in the evening, no matter when you go, all the restaurants are not crowded. As the name suggests, you can enjoy grated yam and barley rice. The fried dishes are also delicious and satisfying.

I used it for lunch on August 9, 2021. When it comes to "tororo" in Asakusa, it's usually "Mugitoro Honten (another branch)", but I found it on the 7th floor of Asakusa EKIMISE as well. The place is called "Gohan to Tororo Toromugi Asakusa-ten". I arrived a little after 12:30 and the place was not crowded. I ordered the following: - Rosukatsu (1,188 yen) with medium tororo (ume tororo) (308 yen) - Deep-fried tofu and mixed vegetable tempura (1,320 yen) You can choose from 3 types of tororo: - Dashi tororo - Ume tororo - Mentaiko tororo You can also choose from 3 types of rice, and refills are free: - Mixed grain rice - Shiso and dried baby sardine rice - Mochi barley rice I chose ume tororo, and it was delicious with a refreshing taste of plum while enjoying the tororo. It's been a while since I had lunch in Asakusa. The area is so crowded near the end of the year! I decided to have a late lunch to avoid the rush, but it was still packed everywhere. Finally, I made it to this place after waiting in line for a bit. I was in the mood for some fried food in the afternoon, so I ordered the pork cutlet and shrimp fry lunch set. It came with grated yam rice and was delicious. There were other tempting sets on the menu, so I want to try those next time.

When my family and I went to Asakusa on a holiday, we decided to have lunch at this place! They had a kids menu, so it was great for families with children. The disposable hand towels had cute patterns that got the kids excited (lol). I regret forgetting to take photos (> <). I ordered the Chicken with Ume (plum) and grated daikon. The chicken was crispy and the combination of plum and daikon was excellent and delicious ☺️ I chose barley rice from the three options, and you could customize with toppings like grated yam, dashi, plum, or mentaiko, which was a nice touch. I chose mentaiko, but the flavor was a bit mild, so I felt it was a bit of a waste, hence my rating here ^^; The kids menu had a good value for money (lol).

I came to Japan and said I had never eaten "tororo" before, so I was taken to Asakusa. I wrote my name and lined up. I was delighted by the beautiful small dishes lined up. They said the balance was really good. They can eat regular tororo, but they don't like the feeling of natural yam sticking in their throat. When I mentioned that it is good for the body, they said that anything good for the body around the world has a unique taste! It was also a good portion size for under 2,000 yen. Although I live nearby, this was my first time at this restaurant. They offer various set meals that resemble traditional Japanese meals, but upon closer inspection, they are nothing special. However, the sets that come with a variety of side dishes are quite appealing. I was torn between the pork cutlet and other options, but my desire to try a variety of dishes won out, so I ordered the "deep-fried tofu and vegetable set" which was on sale for 1200 yen plus tax. The side dishes seemed pre-made, but I didn't mind considering the price. The grated yam was delicious and made the rice disappear quickly. There is a popular restaurant nearby that specializes in grated yam dishes, but since it's always crowded, I am satisfied with this place.

The food is simply delicious. The young staff members provide excellent service. It would be nice to have some a la carte options for snacks, but you can choose from three types of rice. This time, I chose the barley rice.
