Still hot in Shinjuku for lunch. Occasionally, I decided to go for hot noodles, but the restaurant I chose had a long line, so I gave up. The strong sunlight mercilessly burned my skin and drained my energy, but just when I was reaching my limit, a savior extended a helping hand. This time's restaurant: Fuji Soba Shinjuku Tocho-ten. I knew of its existence but it was my first time dining there. I purchased my meal at the ticket machine near the entrance, handed the ticket to the counter, received my order when called, and found a seat. The restaurant was surprisingly spacious for Shinjuku, and the air conditioning was blasting cold! I was shivering, feeling like it was about 15 degrees Celsius. I wished I had brought a jacket.
Mini Ume-Dare Butadon Set (Mori Soba) for 660 yen included pork bowl, mori soba, soba dipping sauce, and condiments. With the air conditioning so strong, I thought maybe warm kake soba would have been better, but it was too late to change my mind. It had been a while since I had Fuji Soba, and the soba had a good firmness and was hard to cut. Dipping it in the soba sauce and slurping it up, the spicy sauce coated the noodles nicely, providing a refreshing taste. The mini Ume-Dare Butadon had a tangy plum flavor that was perfect for summer. The warm rice was especially comforting in the cold restaurant. Despite being called "mini," it was a satisfying portion. I added condiments to the soba sauce and enjoyed the remaining noodles. Considering that nowadays a single soba dish at a convenience store can cost around 500 yen, this set was quite reasonable overall. Ah, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.
Movie viewing record ⭐️ 33rd movie of 2023 watched "PATHAAN" at Shinjuku Piccadilly. A beloved Indian film in the action genre, comparable to Hollywood's Mission Impossible with a well-prepared dance scene and entertaining elements. The protagonist's captivating physique and the heroine's mesmerizing big eyes were impressive. The ending hinted at a sequel, which I look forward to.

Fuji Soba near Shinjuku Nishiguchi and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. I had visited before, but it was closed during lunchtime, and I saw a notice that they are closed on weekends. I visited again at 7:30 am on a weekday. I purchased a ticket for the mini tempura rice bowl set. There was only one other customer at that early hour. The tempura rice bowl was delicious with a perfect sauce, and the rice was excellent. I had always thought of having a pork cutlet rice bowl at Fuji Soba, but the tempura rice bowl was also great. Thank you for the meal.

I suddenly felt like eating tempura soba, so I went out to eat at Meitoyo Fuji Soba for a late-night snack. Even though I was already full, it strangely still went down well, which is scary. The broth is thick like Kanto-style soba, but when it comes to the soba itself, the Kanto-style broth goes really well with it and tastes delicious.

■Visit Date: January 6, 2023■Received Items: Refer below■MEMOToday's lunch was the Mini Ginger Pork Bowl Set from the 550 yen set menu. You can choose between plain soba or mori soba. I enjoyed slurping the soba while eating the bowl. It was just enough to satisfy my hunger. With a full stomach, I head back to work in the afternoon.■Bloghttps://ay-style.net/

I ate the Mini Curry Cold Udon for 590 yen at "Fuji Soba" in Shinjuku. It's a stand soba shop located in the backstreet behind Yodobashi Camera. The cold udon had a shiny and chewy texture similar to Sanuki udon, and I was honestly surprised by how high the quality was. The mini curry was like the curry you would find in school lunches or set meals, using S&B's commercial curry roux. It had a stable and familiar taste.

This is a Fuji Soba located in Nishi-Shinjuku. The shop is situated in a commercial area where Yodobashi Camera and restaurants are densely packed. Although the branch is named Shinjuku Metropolitan Government Building store, it is a bit far from the government building, located off Koshu Kaido Street. The shop has a typical station-front bustling atmosphere with a display case outside. Inside, there are seats with no backrest and a standing counter for solo diners, giving it a Fuji Soba vibe. I ordered the following:
- Cold soba with flavored egg set, mini curry included (550 yen): I chose this as it was recommended for summer. The soba was served cold with a cold broth poured over it, known as "hiyashi" style. It's not the typical zaru or mori style, but it's a refreshing way to enjoy soba in the summer. The broth, while not exceptional, had the right level of richness. The soba itself was firm and had a good texture, making it quite enjoyable. The toppings included plenty of tempura flakes, flavored egg, seaweed, and green onions, with powdered wasabi on the side. The tempura flakes seemed to be pre-made, but they were crispy and added a nice texture. The flavored egg was cooked well and had a good flavor. The mini curry on the side had a unique spice blend with mainly potatoes, carrots, and a small amount of meat. It came with fukujinzuke, completing the curry experience.
- Extra green onions (30 yen): I added extra green onions as some people like to do at standing soba shops. It's clear and convenient that they offer it for a small additional fee. They serve it separately, so you can see exactly how much you've added.
- Croquette (130 yen): I added this as I felt the curry lacked ingredients. It seemed to be a frozen croquette with mainly potatoes and mixed vegetables. It was average, but perhaps a bit overpriced.
Overall, Fuji Soba offers reasonably priced and moderately delicious meals. It's convenient and I recommend trying their seasonal limited-time menu for a good deal.

I arrived in Shinjuku early in the morning and searched for a place to have breakfast. When I come to Tokyo, I try to eat soba noodles as much as possible, so today I went to the very famous Fuji Soba. I ordered the morning set today. When you hand in your meal ticket, you can choose between hot or cold soba noodles, so today I chose hot soba noodles. The dashi broth was different from what I usually have in Kansai, and it had a strong bonito flavor called "The Tokyo", which was a cultural shock but enjoyable. It was delicious, so I will come again!

Located in Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. This standing soba restaurant is known for its 24-hour operation (although under emergency measures or prevention of spread, there may be shortened hours or some stores may have breaks). Part of the Daitan Group. Closest to the world's largest terminal, Shinjuku Station. It's been a while since I last visited Fuji Soba, about 8 months. It's lunchtime on a weekday, just past 11 am. There are at least 3 staff members. There are 2 ticket vending machines available. Today's order: Croquette Soba for 460 yen. You can choose soba or udon, and I chose soba. The soba is boiled fresh after ordering, which really adds to the flavor. Fuji Soba is working on promoting the local food specialty of croquette soba nationwide. It was delicious! Some people may give low ratings because it's a chain restaurant, but Fuji Soba offers good value for money and the taste is not bad. #Tokyo specialty Croquette Soba #Noodle investigator #BGM is Enka #Soba #Udon #Curry #Katsudon #Standing soba #TGS #Cashless payment not available #Definitely will revisit (including other locations)

I started a habit of taking morning walks during my hikikomori lifestyle, and one day I decided to wander around the Shinjuku Nishiguchi area in the morning. I chose to have breakfast at a standing soba noodle shop chain because they offer a great deal on their morning soba for 330 yen. You can choose between hot or cold soba, and it comes topped with a soft-boiled egg, fried tofu, and seaweed. I opted for the cold soba, which came with wasabi as a condiment. It may not be the most delicious meal, but it was satisfying enough for breakfast. I also had some soba broth before heading back home before the temperature rose.

Today's energy booster, morning soba! It's great to find a place open early in the morning when many others are closed for adjustments. "Tenyu Soba at Meijyo Fuji Soba in Shinjuku" has a soft and smooth soba texture typical of Fuji Soba. The dipping sauce is on the richer side, typical of Kanto region. The tempura is packed with vegetables, topped with a warm egg, chopped green onions, and seaweed. The cheerful voices of the staff are pleasant in the morning. It was delicious!

I had to skip meals until 8:00 p.m. because I was playing mahjong from 11:00 a.m., so I hurried to the nearby Fuji Soba. There were 3 customers already inside, even though it was around 10:30 a.m., which was an odd time. The menu had a lot of options, but I decided to order the recommended Tori-Ten Soba for 440 yen. While waiting for my order to be prepared, I carefully looked at the ticket machine and realized I should have chosen a vegetable tempura option with mushrooms and chrysanthemum greens. Just as I was thinking that, my order was ready in less than a minute, which was quite impressive. The Tori-Ten was surprisingly tender and juicy, maybe they cooked it at a low temperature? The soba at Fuji Soba was a bit softer than I prefer, but it was still enjoyable. I finished my meal in about 3-4 minutes and even though a new soba restaurant is opening nearby, I will continue to support Fuji Soba. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I had some soba noodles to finish off my meal. Nowadays, there are few places open at night, so it was convenient that this place was open. I bought a ticket for the Spring Chrysanthemum Tempura Soba (440 yen) from the ticket machine. Since Fuji Soba doesn't have raw eggs, I ordered it as is. Soon after, I went to the counter to pick up my bowl. The taste was typical of a chain store. The Spring Chrysanthemum Tempura had a strong chrysanthemum flavor, and I enjoyed dipping it in the hot broth. As a finishing soba dish, it was refreshing and had a sufficient amount. I left the restaurant satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Meiji Fuji Soba Shinjuku Metropolitan Government Office Branch
Located near Shinjuku Station, in a corner of the bustling city with attractions like Yodobashi and LAVI. It is on the first floor of a large building facing the street, with a bright sign making it easy to spot. This Fuji Soba chain restaurant embodies the qualities of being cheap, fast, and delicious.
1. Purchase a meal ticket at the ticket machine upon entering.
2. Hand over the meal ticket to the staff at the ticket counter on the left side upon entering (informally named).
3. Order soba or udon. This time, soba.
4. They will inform you of the approximate waiting time. They will tear off a portion of your ticket.
5. Announcement: "Order number, item name, your order is ready."
6. Receive your tray in exchange for the ticket.
7. Enjoy your meal.
8. Return the tray to the return counter.
I ordered warm soba with spinach. The waiting time at this restaurant was only 2 minutes. Fast!!! The quick service and the quality of the food were fantastic. The staff's response was also quick!!! Amazing! As expected in Shinjuku, where they have been trained in the fierce competition of the restaurant and izakaya district. In the world of salarymen where every second counts, the presence of standing soba like this is truly appreciated and undoubtedly contributes to sustaining people's lives. On a cold night, warm soba really hit the spot. I enjoyed it with some shichimi togarashi sprinkled on the tsuyu for a spicy kick! Thank you for the meal! It was delicious!

Before my errand, I had a quick snack (even though it's 6:00 pm haha). I always go for the 500 yen katsudon. The cheap (in a good way) katsu with sweet and savory sauce. Yum yum, let's dig in. The soup seems to be using soba broth, and it's quite tasty, but the flavor is really strong, which is unique. The neighborhood has become very domestic, hasn't it? I also feel nostalgic for the drugstore's foreign language calls. Once again, I realize that I came here to eat the katsudon from "Fuji Soba". Is this their core competence? Capability? Haha.

I visit this place every night, and this time I came to have soba noodles as my final meal. I noticed the Red Pickled Ginger Soba (430 yen) on the menu, which I usually don't eat at other places even though I always go for morning soba in Ueno. So, I decided to try it out and bought a meal ticket. They don't serve raw eggs here, only hot spring eggs, so I didn't get an egg with my soba. After handing in my meal ticket at the counter, I had to wait a bit for the tempura to be ready. Soon enough, it was done. I went to the counter to pick it up and found a thick, bright red pickled ginger tempura waiting for me. It looked appetizing! The taste was slightly different from what I'm used to in Ueno, but it was still good. I focused on tasting the pickled ginger tempura only. It had a slightly less sweet taste compared to what I usually have. Overall, it was satisfying. I finished my meal quickly as usual and left the restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I wanted to leave a review, but it seems that the store information was not registered! I thought this store had been around for quite some time, but I never noticed until now. This was my 3rd or 4th visit. I visited at night this time and had the chilled soba as my final dish. Around Shinjuku West Exit, after 10 pm, many stores are closed, so I ended up here. Even though it was late, the restaurant was quite busy. I purchased a ticket for the chilled soba (480 yen) and added a soft-boiled egg (70 yen). It was served promptly. The chilled soba was really cold. It was just right for my stomach after drinking. The portion size was good, and I was satisfied with the ending soba. I think Fuji Soba is relatively crowded. I haven't seen it during the day, but I assume it's busy. I left the restaurant satisfied with the ending soba. Thank you for the meal.

It seems that there are some Fuji Soba enthusiasts out there, and apparently the menu contents vary depending on the store. Furthermore, each store seems to have its own exclusive menu items! This time, I tried the Yuzu Chicken and Spinach Soba, which is not a limited-time menu item, but it is only available at certain stores. I was happy to see both vegetables and meat in the soba, as it's surprisingly rare to find soba dishes with both.

I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, but there is one that I sometimes go to, which is standing soba restaurant called Fuji Soba. I like their katsu-don, and this time I decided to try their curry katsu-don. Just from the name, you can imagine what it might taste like, but let's see how it actually turns out. I went to the store, bought the ticket for the curry katsu-don, and in a few minutes, it arrived. The appearance alone was perfect and cute! I think many people would be excited just by looking at it. Now, let's try it! Yep, it tasted just as I imagined. The sweetness of the katsu doesn't go well with the curry. I think it's better to eat them separately. Well, that's it for the meal!

When it comes to Fuji Soba, I have been enjoying the "Red Pickled Ginger Tempura" lately. The texture of the red pickled ginger and the combination with the udon noodles is exquisite. I tried the regular tempura udon after a long time. The tempura was moist and normal, not too oily. The water at Fuji Soba is delicious. The udon and tempura go well together, but I personally feel like the seaweed (wakame) is unnecessary. This seems to be a common opinion for the Fuji Soba menu in general. Wakame is a characteristic of Fuji Soba, but I'm not sure if it's really needed...

I stopped by for a meal before a night out. The katsu don costs around 500 yen. The accompanying soup was quite similar to soba broth, which was interesting and surprising, making it enjoyable every time. While a fast food katsu don from "Katsuya" would be fine at this place, there's something about the katsu don from Fuji Soba that draws me in. The soup and seasoning of the katsu don have a soba shop flavor to them. The thin, crispy meat with a chewy texture unique to standing soba shops might be what makes it so appealing. The firm rice also pairs well. Overall, it's a reliable restaurant.
