The next option was closing at 9 pm (only 40 minutes left!). Feeling disappointed, I stumbled upon a cafe-like open-air restaurant and decided to stop by. They were open until 10 pm, so I still had a little over an hour. When I entered, I had to go through another temperature check... I wonder how many times I've been checked today... It was an English pub-style restaurant where you pay at the counter each time. I thought about getting a bottle of wine for the four of us, but they had stopped selling bottles. Maybe it's to prevent people from staying too long. It was a night that made me realize that we are still in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The temperature has been rising lately, already feeling like early summer. Despite the changing seasons, the taste of 82ALEHOUSE's draft beer remains unchanged! I chose Kirin Beer's lager, and during happy hour until 7 pm, the price drops from 670 yen to 510 yen per pint! What a great deal! I used this offer when meeting for dinner that night. I also like to stop by when I need a drink or want to relax before heading home. This pub on a side street near Miyamasuzaka, close to the station, is a versatile spot for enjoying a drink, whether you want a full meal or just a casual drink. I'll definitely be visiting again.

I went to Tokyo alone~♪ My main purpose was to meet a friend. After arriving in Tokyo and completing various tasks, I stayed overnight in Shibuya. I went to 82, a sister store of HUB. This place is not in Kansai, so I wanted to visit it once when in Tokyo. It is located in a quiet corner. When I went, despite it being a holiday at 5 o'clock, there was only one group. A friendly male staff member came out and said, "Please sit wherever you like." It's surprising that they don't often say "Please sit wherever you like" in recent restaurants. I quickly ordered a Kirin draft beer. I also ordered the homemade pickles that I always get at HUB and the "oven-baked cabbage?" (I forgot the name). The pickles were so-so... HUB's version is much better. The cabbage dish, on the other hand, was delicious with a strong garlic flavor. I had a relaxing time in a quiet atmosphere. I would like to go again sometime. ^-^

During a break from shopping, we stopped by 82 Ale House Shibuya Miyamasuzaka, a British-style pub managed by the company HUB. We found that the target audience for 82 Ale House is slightly older than HUB, catering to business people in their 30s to 50s. While HUB's menu features beer and fish and chips, 82 Ale House recommends whiskey on the rocks with haggis. The cozy interior was filled with a mix of female customers enjoying cocktails and groups of middle-aged salarymen. Orders are placed at the counter, and you pay for your drinks and food upfront in a cash-on-delivery style. I tried the Maker's Mark whiskey highball with soda (510 yen, plus 100 yen for the soda) in a regular glass. The simple soda mix brought out the full flavor of the Maker's Mark, highlighting its subtle vanilla notes without being too bitter. The bourbon had a balanced, slightly smoky flavor with a smooth and sweet finish, making for a satisfying experience with my companions.

I mainly try limited edition beers from Japanese breweries that change almost every month, but the only one available to drink now is the Yuzu version of Hitachino Nest's Original White Ale. This White Ale, highly rated overseas, made me curious to try the Yuzu version, so I went to the brewery. I visited on a hot Sunday evening, and there were only a few customers inside, so I was able to enter smoothly. I ordered a half-size for 600 yen, and the cashier showed me the glass and kindly confirmed, "Is this size okay for you?" with a smile. It was a nice gesture, as some customers may not be familiar with pint sizes or half-pint sizes. I ordered smoked salmon for 510 yen and enjoyed my beer leisurely by myself. There were ashtrays on each table, but no one was smoking, so it was comfortable. The Yuzu version may be slightly sweeter than Minoh Yuzu White, but it was delicious. As a new customer started smoking, I decided to leave. I think I stayed for about 20 minutes, but as I left, the staff saw me off outside. There were two staff members I saw, both young but very polite. Despite being a chain restaurant and allowing smoking, receiving such good service makes me want to visit again. It's nice to see the staff waving and greeting me when I pass by the shop. I usually order nuts, but I tried their potato salad the other day and it was delicious, so I think other dishes must be good too. I have accumulated quite a few points. I usually only stay for about 30 minutes, so next time I want to use my points and enjoy the food and drinks here at a leisurely pace.

However, since I visited an English-style pub, I thought I should have a single malt whiskey. There was a super deal of a "Tasting Set" for 1,000 yen, so I chose the set from the Islay island, the holy land of malt whiskey. It's a small island with an area the size of Sado Island and a population of only about 4,000, but it has eight distilleries. I chose three Islay island whiskeys: "Bowmore 12 years," "Ardbeg 10 years," and "Caol Ila 12 years." Oh, the taste... I don't usually drink single malt whiskey, so I was in tears. I was knocked out by the high alcohol content and strong smoky aroma. I should have chosen a more normal set. Later, I found out that Islay island single malt whiskey has a unique taste. Since a chaser alone couldn't help, I chose "China Blue" and "V.S.O Sea Breeze" to share. I also had a little snack: "Smoked Cheese with Iburi Gakko" and "Liver Paste," both for 350 yen. Adding a "Speyside Mojito," it's only 3,300 yen, isn't it cheap? Well, the atmosphere is decent, but I thought the service was quite good. I was surprised when I was escorted out of the store at the end. Since it's cash-on-delivery, there's no bill. That means they're working while keeping an eye on the customers. I don't know if other stores do the same, but I hope they continue with this kind of service.

After finishing work in Shibuya in the evening, I came across this shop. It is a sister shop of the previously introduced Hamamatsucho 82 ALE HOUSE. I visited in April, and decided to enter and enjoy a refreshing beer in the pleasant early evening. Inside, there was a TV playing the evening news. The customers were mostly regulars and a group of women, so it was still quiet. I ordered the 82 Real Ale 1 pint (\950?), which had a good balance of bitterness and richness with a nice aroma. Just down the hill is the hustle and bustle of Shibuya station, but I was able to enjoy a quiet moment with a glass in hand. I skipped ordering snacks this time as I had a party later, but I look forward to trying some snacks with another glass next time.
