Hello everyone in July 2023! It's lunchtime! It's scorching hot again today! I decided on lunch here since yesterday - "Tantanmen Akki" ⭐️ I had the soupless tantanmen (white) for ¥800. There are white and black options for the noodles, and the flat medium noodles had a nice chewy texture. You can choose the level of spiciness, and I went with level 2 for free and added extra rice! The table condiments are great! There's spicy vinegar, spicy soy sauce, black pepper, chili oil, and curry spice - which is basically curry powder! Interesting! You can customize the flavor to your liking, which is great! The soupless tantanmen mixing experience was delicious! The taste was excellent! It's so tasty! In the summer, vinegar is the way to go! It's fun to change up the flavors! The curry spice makes it a curry mixed noodles! It's great! But today, let's stick to the traditional style! For the finish, I added rice and mixed in vinegar soy sauce and spicy vinegar. I wish they had fresh sansho pepper, cilantro, star anise, wolfberry, and ginger. I think adding some herbs and spices to the green vegetables in the tantanmen would be nice. Maybe they could offer a soup option with those for ¥1000. However, this place is delicious! I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal! ❤️

I had Tan Tan noodles and Ooba dumplings. The Tan Tan noodles had a sesame-flavored soup that was rich but also refreshing, creating a well-balanced taste. The soup is said to be a secret recipe. The noodles were not too eggy and had just the right amount of sweetness, pairing perfectly with the slightly spicy soup. The Ooba dumplings allowed me to enjoy the flavor of the Ooba leaves. I would love to eat here again, and will definitely stop by when I'm in the area! Thank you for the meal.

For lunch, I went to a ramen restaurant near Osaka Tenmangu Station in Osaka City, Kita-ku. The photo is of the White Sesame Tantanmen (regular size) for 800 yen. It's been a while since I had Tantanmen. This time, I chose level 2 spiciness. The soup has a thick sesame flavor and the thin straight noodles are cooked perfectly. The combination of the noodles and soup is excellent. The toppings include meat miso, white leeks, and komatsuna greens, which have a slight bitterness compared to chingensai. After finishing the meal, my body felt warm, and with the temperature dropping a bit, it was just perfect. A well-balanced bowl of ramen.

A small, clean Sichuan noodle shop that can be used for dates or hospitality. The sesame sauce is fragrant, and you can feel the richness and umami in the soup. It's slightly spicy, so you won't want to mix in too much. The harmony of noodles and soup is impressive! The steamed chicken with spices is delicious and perfect for hot summer days as it's served cold. The menu is varied and deep, making you want to come back and try more dishes by spending more money next time!

For lunch, I went to a ramen restaurant near Osaka Tenmangu Station in Kita Ward, Osaka. The photo is of the Chilled Salted Chicken Ramen (regular size) for 850 yen. My colleague, who accompanied me, ordered the 3rd level of spiciness for the tantanmen because they said they wouldn't be able to eat spicy food for a while. I, on the other hand, chose the chilled ramen because of the heat. I asked for the tomatoes to be removed and they added extra cucumbers for me. The clear soup was surprisingly light on the saltiness. I could taste the umami, but it was hard to tell because it was cold. The simple toppings of green onions, chicken, and half a boiled egg matched the refreshing soup perfectly. In this heat, people tend to avoid hot ramen, but this restaurant is always full of customers seeking spiciness. They only serve 10 bowls per day, so if you want to try it, go early.

I visited the Tan Tan Men Akao restaurant near Osaka Tenmangu Shrine for lunch. I had the black sesame tan tan men on this day. I asked for it to be slightly spicy. I also had handmade gyoza and steamed chicken. The flavors were simple and easy to eat. Thank you for the meal.

For lunch, I went to a ramen shop near Osaka Tenmangu Station. The photo is of the Chicken Salt Ramen (large) for 880 yen. It's a renewed version of Ramen Akao. Although the main focus is on the Tantanmen, I tried the Chicken Salt Ramen which is making a comeback. The soup is clear with a salty taste, served with medium-thin straight noodles. Topped with white and chopped green onions, chicken meat instead of chashu, and half a boiled egg. The chicken salt soup is very delicious, and adding some pepper halfway through enhances the flavor for a second enjoyment. Many ramen shops already have pepper added at the beginning, but I personally believe adding it later is better.

For a casual errand in Minamimorimachi, Kita-ku, Osaka City. For lunch, I went to a ramen shop near Osaka Tenmangu Station. The photo is of the white sesame tantanmen at Akao Ramen, priced at 800 yen. It's a renewal from Ramen Akao. I chose the slightly spicier level 2 out of the standard spiciness options. Compared to the black sesame tantanmen, this one has a more subtle sweetness but a strong sesame flavor. The straight thin noodles taste great with the chopped green onions. It also comes with what looks like Chinese cabbage and minced meat. Choosing level 2 spiciness gave it a bit more kick and made me feel warm. Both the white and black sesame tantanmen were delicious.

I had some errands to run in Minamimorimachi, Kita-ku, Osaka City. For lunch, I went to a ramen shop near Osaka Tenmangu Station. The photo shows the Black Sesame Tantanmen at Akao, priced at 800 yen. It is a revamped version from Ramen Akao. I chose the standard level of spiciness, which was level 1. The soup was flavorful with a mix of black sesame paste, offering a balance of spiciness, sesame flavor, and sweetness. The thin noodles, which seemed to have a low water content, were well-coated with the black soup, and combined perfectly with the white leeks. Despite its simple ingredients like minced meat, chopped leeks, and greens similar to chingensai, the dish was delicious until the last bite. I felt that level 1 spiciness was a bit mild, so those who enjoy spicy food may prefer level 2 or 3.

The soup is made from chicken bone broth and seafood, with a low viscosity white sesame base that has a mellow white sesame flavor. It has a slight numbing sensation from the Sansho pepper, sweetness from the sweet bean sauce, and a rich and slightly spicy taste from the chili oil and doubanjiang. The noodles are made with medium-thin straight noodles from 'Mineya Food Industry,' providing a good throat feel and a moderate chewiness. The spiciness ranges from 0 to 2 levels, with the same price. You can also adjust the taste with vinegar soy sauce, chili vinegar, black pepper, chili oil, curry spice, and white miso sauce available on the table."

White Sesame Tan Tan Men (Chicken Broth + White Sesame 800 yen) ★★★☆
The soup is a white sesame flavor based on chicken broth. The noodles are thin straight noodles. The toppings include ground meat, chopped white leeks, white scallions, and komatsuna. This restaurant is located in Minamimorimachi and is a shop that was renovated and reopened on May 26th last year as "Ramen Akaoi Minamimorimachi Store." The soup is made from chicken broth and seafood broth with a bit more chili oil added, giving it a spicy and creamy finish with the numbing spiciness of Sansho pepper, the heat of doubanjiang and chili oil, and the sweetness of tianmianjiang combined with the creamy richness of white sesame sauce. You can choose the level of spiciness from 0 to 5. The noodles are made by Mineya Food Industry and have a firm texture that pairs well with the soup. You can enjoy different flavors by adding vinegar soy sauce, chili vinegar, chili oil, white miso sauce, black pepper, and curry spice provided on the side.

I visited a spicy ramen restaurant called "Ramen Akaooni Minamimorimachi" to warm up my cold body. At first, I couldn't find the restaurant and passed by it because there was no cloth with a demon face drawn on it, and the name of the restaurant had changed to "Tantanmen Akaooni." However, the exterior had a stylish white design. I ordered the soupless tantanmen with black sesame, level 6 spiciness, for 970 yen. It had a strong black sesame aroma and was extremely spicy. When you mix the thick, flat noodles with it, it tastes very delicious. The spiciness was about level 5 at Coco Ichibanya. It was just the right amount of spiciness to warm up my body. Rice was also included, and dipping it in at the end felt like eating a spicy curry, which was also very delicious and felt like a good deal. I visited on a Saturday at 12:30 pm and was able to enter without waiting.

Located about a 5-minute walk north from Osaka Temmangu Station, this restaurant has 2 tables for 4 people each and a counter with about 5 seats. They have implemented measures such as partitions and alcohol disinfection for COVID-19 prevention. I visited on a holiday afternoon. Initially, I thought it was a specialty shop for tantanmen noodles, but it is more accurate to recognize it as a restaurant serving spicy noodle dishes. I chose the black sesame soupless tantanmen, standard spiciness level 1, for 820 yen. Additional charges apply for spiciness levels 3 and above. It comes with extra rice. The thick noodles took about 8 minutes to cook and were served with minced meat, green onions, and shiso leaves - simple but delicious. Unlike some high-end restaurants that serve Chinese cabbage on top, this place mixes all the ingredients well, creating a wonderful flavor. The spiciness level at standard is quite spicy. There are various condiments on the table such as chili vinegar, curry powder, and pepper for flavor enhancement. The condiments seem to change occasionally. I finished by mixing in the extra rice and enjoying it all at once. The exterior looks like a stylish café, but the noodles served are from a specialized shop. I look forward to trying other items on the menu.
