It had been 8 years since my last visit, so I was torn between ordering the most popular whole grain noodle dish with seaweed, or the spicy fish and pork bone dipping noodles, which I remembered being delicious. After reading reviews from previous customers, I decided to take a chance on the spicy sesame dipping noodles, and it turned out to be a great choice! The subtle sweetness of the miso broth with just the right amount of chili oil was incredibly tasty. The soup was not too heavy, making it easy on the stomach. I ordered the small size, which I think was around 150g, and it was the perfect amount for me. Considering the prime location on Nishiki Market Street in Kyoto, I think it's commendable that they can offer this quality of food for around 1,000 yen. It was the last day of Golden Week and raining, so I arrived 2 minutes before opening and there were already 6 people waiting ahead of me. You'll need an umbrella if you have to wait outside. The noodles are cooked for about 8 minutes and 30 seconds, so you can expect your order in around 10 minutes. The height of the counter was a bit awkward, but the staff were very accommodating and spoke English fluently, efficiently serving foreign tourists. They were also friendly and willing to make changes or add extra toppings to your order. On a side note, I now make sure to check the public holidays of my destination before traveling abroad, after seeing the crowded streets full of foreign tourists who may not have been aware of the busy Golden Week period in Japan.

I went to Kawaramachi for work in Kyoto, so I decided to have lunch at Tsurukame Honten in Teramachi where I had visited before. I ordered the rich seafood soy sauce tsukemen for 1040 yen. It took a long time for the food to arrive, but the tsukemen was delicious. The dipping sauce was rich and coated the noodles well. The chashu pork in the sauce was also soft and tasty. Kyoto-style tsukemen is really something special, it was very delicious.

On the last day in Kyoto (Sunday), I had a closing meal. The restaurant is not very spacious, so it might be difficult to bring a suitcase or a large backpack. I had the seafood dipping noodles (regular) and the closing meal. The flavor of the noodles is good, but I prefer them to be colder and more refreshing. In this heat, even the water for closing is lukewarm... The rice was perfectly cooked, and I enjoyed it.

I lined up around 9 pm on Saturday night. There were about 5 groups waiting, but the turnover rate was slow, so I waited for about an hour. I waited inside the restaurant for 20 minutes. Even though I had been asked about the menu beforehand, I was surprised to have to wait 20 minutes after entering the restaurant. There were used tissues left on the table from the previous customer, and when I told the staff, they reluctantly removed them. I ordered two dishes: the Tantan Tsukemen and the Umakara Tsukemen. The Tantan Tsukemen had such a strong broth that I couldn't even take a single bite. There was no fragrant sesame flavor, only a bitter taste. The Umakara Tsukemen had a seafood taste, but the spiciness was just from regular chili peppers, not particularly delicious. It was like a disappointing version of Mita Seimen. I think the classic seafood Tsukemen must be delicious! You can ask for a paper apron, so be sure to do so. Also, they didn't explain how to dilute the soup for foreigners, but they did for Japanese customers, which was disappointing. Discrimination is not acceptable. If English is difficult, how about putting up a sign explaining it?

The restaurant doesn't have a waiting area, but it was fully booked when I arrived at 11:45. It's surprisingly small, with only a counter. The shop is part of the Jyameya and Tsurukame Rokkaku group. Outside, there was information about a stamp rally being held by three shops. I have been to Jyameya before. I ordered the seafood soy sauce dipping noodles, priced at 1080 yen for a regular size, which is a bit expensive. The dipping sauce was rich and flavorful, a seafood pork bone dipping noodles with whole wheat noodles that were chewy and had a good texture! The toppings included thinly sliced chashu, a square piece of chashu, menma, and seaweed. They may not be luxurious, but each one was delicious. You can also ask for a soup refill at the end. I'm curious about their Nishikyo miso tantan noodles as well. The area around Kawaramachi Station doesn't have many rich seafood pork bone dipping noodles, so it's a good choice when you're in the mood for dipping noodles! I really enjoyed the meal. I'll definitely go back again! Thank you for the meal!

In Kyoto, I had a meeting and visited the Tsurukame Honten restaurant in Teramachi-Kyogoku shopping street. It is famous for its tsukemen, and I ordered the Nishikyo miso tantan tsukemen. The rich dipping sauce had a punch to it, but it wasn't too spicy due to the tantan flavor. The straight medium-thick noodles had a good texture, and the miso sauce coated them well. I also enjoyed the soup served at the end, which added a different taste to the meal.

On Tuesday at 6:05 pm, I went around and sat at the counter seat at the back at Tsurukame. There were 4 customers before me. There was one male staff member. I ordered the West Kyoto miso tantan tsukemen (regular) for 1,050 yen, the seafood shoyu tsukemen (regular) for 990 yen, and the rice with Rausu kelp and shellfish simmered dish for 150 yen, totaling 2,190 yen. It's been a while since I last posted, but I wanted to keep a note of the prices. It's my first time ordering a rice dish here. My daughter loves West Kyoto miso, so she's a fan of Tsurukame. I also like it and have been eating it since I first got hooked on ramen, but lately I've been a bit worried if I can finish the West Kyoto miso by myself, so I usually go for the seafood shoyu. The restaurant is small, so it's not easy to get a seat without determination, but I enjoyed my meal. Thank you.

This time, I ordered fish sauce dipping noodles at this restaurant. The noodles were thin but beautiful, with a good texture. The fish sauce dipping broth had a strong punch with a well-balanced fish flavor, making it easy to slurp up. It paired well with the table condiments, and I didn't get tired of eating it until the end.

I visited after a long time. The small, counter-only shop is always crowded! I ordered the rich seafood tsukemen (small) for 930 yen. Prices seem to have gone up again! Oh, they don't serve seasoned eggs anymore? Tears... Huh? The noodles are soft. Quite soft, like thin udon. But in exchange, they're slippery. It seems like the soup has become more salty. Were the chashu slices always this tough? It's been a while since I last went, but I was a bit disappointed. I think the miso tantan tsukemen is tastier.

I visited the restaurant after reading some reviews. The seating area has only 8 seats, and it was quite cramped when I visited. I ordered the Nishikyo miso tantan tsukemen with a regular amount of noodles for 1050 yen. The tsukemen was very well-prepared, and the noodles were beautifully cooked. The flavor was also delicious, and I finished it in no time. They also offered soup-wari, which made it a very satisfying meal. Thank you for the great meal!

Arrived on Sunday after 1 PM, there was a group of one waiting but we were seated in about 10 minutes. The restaurant is small with only 8 counter seats. Although the seafood soy sauce dipping noodles seemed to be the main dish, I decided to go for something different and ordered the tantan tsukemen. The noodles were soft at first but had a good chewiness and wheat aroma as I ate more. The soup had a sesame fragrance, gentle sweetness of Kyoto miso, and a spicy kick from the chili oil, all blending well with the seafood base. There were two thin slices of pork chashu hidden inside. Lastly, I added the rice to the remaining soup for a rich and flavorful finish! It was a bit too strong in flavor, but when I added vinegar from the table, it became smoother and even more delicious. The staff were attentive and made the dining experience comfortable. The only downside was that the table was high, or rather the chairs were low, making it a bit uncomfortable to eat. Thank you for the meal!

I walked from a ryokan near Gion Shijo. Originally, I was planning to go to "Inoichi" but couldn't enter without some sort of ticket. So, I came to this place nearby instead. Everyone except us was a foreigner, and it took over 40 minutes from lining up to getting my bowl of noodles. The taste was similar to Mita Seimen, maybe a slightly upgraded version. I didn't quite understand the point of waiting in line. However, the taste was simply delicious. I ordered the fish broth tsukemen with special toppings (chashu + seasoned egg), and I think this might be the best option.

I have always wanted to visit Tsurukame Honten! The seafood flavor was very delicious. The garlic was also good. There are two entrances in the restaurant, so I was a little confused, but I entered from the side where they sell meal tickets. I had a delicious egg over rice as the final dish! It was heavenly. There were many foreign tourists in the restaurant!

Visit at 12:15 on a Saturday. Waited in line with 5 people and was able to eat in 30 minutes. Ordered the large portion. The regular size might be a bit small, but it was delicious. Didn't feel any particular punch. Finished with soup. Poor cell phone reception in the restaurant.

As a foreigner, when we entered the restaurant, we were immediately asked to order and were not even seated or given a menu yet. This did not happen to the Japanese guests. When I asked for the bill, the chef simply wrote the price on a piece of paper and turned away without a word. I felt unwelcome in this shop and will not be returning. I also would not recommend this shop to other foreigners. That's all.

Today's dinner was at "Tsurukame Honten" in Shijo Kawaramachi, probably my third visit. I came because the limited menu looked delicious. "Chicken oil and chicken broth mixed noodles," do you still have it? Luckily, they still had it. They said there's no large serving, so I'll also have the "Char-mayo rice." The narrow restaurant with only 8 counter seats is run by two people. The dishes have arrived. Let's eat. The chicken broth mixes well with the noodles. The noodles are medium-thick straight noodles. The toppings are chicken steak, chicken breast, ham (chicken?), and chopped green onions. I remembered the last time I came, but it's quite difficult to eat because the counter is high. The char-mayo rice has rice with char siu, mayonnaise, chopped green onions, seaweed, and sesame seeds on top. Thank you for the meal.

First, I tried the thin noodles. They had a nice firmness and were delicious. The dipping sauce was based on chicken and slightly thick, with a good balance of various spicy ingredients. When you dip the noodles in this sauce, it somehow feels like the chopsticks are drawn towards the noodles. Personally, I really liked this dish. Additionally, the sliced pork and bamboo shoots were well-balanced toppings.

I arrived at the restaurant after 2pm, but as expected from a popular long-standing establishment, it was fully packed with only 8 counter seats available. I ordered the medium spicy tsukemen for 1050 yen and added a special topping of flavored egg and 3 slices of chashu for 350 yen. After a short wait, my order arrived. The hot soup had a rich shrimp flavor and the spiciness from 10 types of chili peppers was well balanced. It wasn't just spicy, but had a deep and flavorful heat from the chili peppers. It was a unique spiciness that I haven't experienced elsewhere. I finished by drinking the remaining soup and enjoyed every last drop. The only mistake was that I forgot to mention that I prefer my dish to be served hot, but even though it wasn't, it was still delicious!

I ate sushi, had yakiniku, and wandered until I found this small restaurant. The interior was very narrow. There were many foreign customers, about half of the customers were from overseas. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their Japanese noodles. It's a great restaurant. The simmered rice dish at the end also looked delicious.
