"PRESS BUTTER SAND" in Ikebukuro is conveniently located inside Ikebukuro Station. In addition to the classic butter flavor, they also offer strawberry and pistachio flavors. The exterior has a chic design, giving it a luxurious feel. This time, I purchased a box of 9 pieces, which cost around 2000 yen. The biscuit crust is crispy, with a slightly creamy butter filling. When you bite into it, you can taste a sweet caramel-like flavor. I quickly finished 2 pieces in no time. I should have also bought the strawberry flavor. It was a delicious treat!

Recently, there has been a noticeable trend of introducing Japanese-style versions of Western confectionery, such as the "Yatsu" brand. I tried one of their Japanese-style butter sandwiches for the first time at Seibu Ikebukuro.
[Item Purchased]
- "Kinako Azuki" (4 pieces, 1188 yen including tax)
[Impression of the Product]
The classic "Kinako Azuki" butter sandwich features a cream made by combining red beans and whipped butter, sandwiched between two types of kinako powder and rice flour cookie dough. The cookie dough has a crispy and crumbly texture, softer than a typical butter sandwich. The kinako-flavored cookie dough is sweet and gentle, with a rich flavor. The cream inside is light and fluffy, with a subtle buttery taste and a nice texture from the red bean pieces. As a fan of both kinako and red beans, I really enjoyed this confection and it has become one of my favorite treats.
[Overall Impression]
In addition to "Kinako Azuki," there were also limited-time flavors like "Sakura Azuki" and "Matcha Azuki." According to the staff, these Japanese-style products are only available at Seibu Ikebukuro and Daimaru Tokyo. While Seibu Ikebukuro only sells boxed products, Daimaru Tokyo offers individual purchases. As someone who enjoys traditional Japanese sweets like ohagi and daifuku, I found the combination of crispy cookie dough and flavorful red beans in this Japanese-style butter sandwich to be a delightful fusion of Western and Japanese flavors. However, it may not suit everyone's taste as it lacks the strong buttery flavor and intense sweetness found in typical butter sandwiches. Overall, I recommend this to those who appreciate Japanese sweets.

I visited on a regular day. I bought a pack of 5 butter sandwiches at a shop in Ikebukuro Station. The cream and caramel inside paired well with the crispy cookies and were delicious. I thought it would make a perfect souvenir. Thank you for the meal! :)

I was looking for Tokyo-exclusive sweets and found out that they were also available at Ikebukuro Station, so I decided to stop by. I bought Fukuoka-exclusive "Amaou" sweets. I gave them as souvenirs to my neighbors. The texture was firmer than I expected. Everyone said they were delicious, but I had built up too much anticipation, so it didn't meet my expectations in terms of firmness and taste.

Press Butter Sand located inside Ikebukuro Station. I tried the popular plain flavor that I had been curious about. I ordered 5 pieces for 1000 yen. When I opened it, the rich butter was tightly wrapped in a solid cookie, melting in the mouth with a perfect balance. The cookie itself had a nice firmness, making it a well-rounded treat. It seems like a great gift for Mother's Day. If you come across it, give it a try.

I tried Press Butter Sand's standard butter sand and it was delicious! The caramel and butter cream inside melted in my mouth, and the combination with the whipped cream was perfect. The cookie also paired well with the cream. It's great that you can now purchase it without waiting in a long line.

After finishing a meal in Ebisu, I returned to Ikebukuro on the Saikyo Line. My wife wanted to buy butter sandwiches from a shop here, so we headed to the central exit of Ikebukuro Station. It seems that many shops have closed down due to the impact of the coronavirus, especially those that rely on souvenir sales. It must be tough with high rent costs. We decided to buy the limited edition lemon-flavored butter sandwiches instead of the regular ones. The cookie crust was nice and crunchy, but the lemon flavor overwhelmed the butter, so it didn't quite meet our expectations. Perhaps the original or cocoa flavor would have been more in line with the shop's concept. Nevertheless, it's convenient to purchase and worth considering as a potential souvenir shop in the future.

A lovely gift from a nice gentlemanヽ(=´▽`=)ノ so cute!! The box is really stylish♪ It's now sitting on my desk as a candy container (*^^*) haha The shape is unique and super cute☆ The biscuits are crispy and crumbly♪ And the buttery aroma is amazing (≧∇≦)b The cream inside is light and fluffy, not too sweet, and milky♪♪ This is just too stylish!! Next time, I'll definitely use it as a gift too (*^^*)

Five for 1000 yen. There are some sweets at convenience stores in the 200 yen range, and considering the cute handmade packaging, it's not bad. I would say the buttercream in the butter sand is not very strong (it's mixed with butter caramel), so personally I didn't find it very delicious. Not sure about it as a souvenir. The company, which has raised funds from Polaris Capital and is working on developing its business model for further growth, is probably still testing this format. They offer bake, croquant choux, and apple pie. Their positioning as a startup in the confectionery industry is interesting.

I bought the classic Press Butter Sand at Press Butter Sand in Ikebukuro Station. It's a souvenir with butter sandwiched between cookies. I bought a 5-piece pack to try it out. The cookies are bite-sized squares with buttercream inside. The outer cookie is crispy, the cream inside is sweet and smooth. However, there wasn't much buttery aroma, and I couldn't really taste the butter in the cream. I was expecting a cookie where I could really taste the butter, considering it's called Butter Sand, but unfortunately, the taste was disappointing. The packaging and appearance are very stylish, making it a good souvenir, but I don't think I'll use it as a gift because of the mediocre taste. Personally, I think Mr. Itou's butter cookies are much more delicious.

I bought a small gift from a shop located between the Marunouchi Line exit at Ikebukuro Station and Seibu. I wanted to buy some for myself too, but they only come in packs of 5, 10, or 15. I told them I hadn't tried it, but they gave me one to taste. The cookies are light and crispy with a gooey caramel filling. They are not too heavy and go well with coffee.

It's been a while, but here is a review from when I went to Tokyo a little while ago (souvenir edition). I found this in Ikebukuro while wandering around. I had tried to buy it at Tokyo Station before, but gave up due to the long line! *Pressed Butter Sand (5 pieces for 1080 yen) - Thick cookies sandwiched with buttercream and a sticky caramel-like filling. It was delicious, but given the high expectations, it was more like "Oh, this is how it is." Overall, it's a baked good where you can really taste the butter. It would make a nice souvenir gift, but personally, I probably wouldn't buy it again.

This is a butter sandwich specialty store located in Ikebukuro. It is affiliated with "BAKE" and "RINGO" which raises expectations! While this shop is popular at Tokyo Station, a third store has opened in Ikebukuro. The location is a bit hard to find, as it is very small and easy to overlook despite being in a busy area. The menu is simple, offering only butter sandwiches starting from a set of 5 for 1000 yen. I purchased the 5-piece set. The sandwiches are cute in size and when you take a bite, the outer cookie crust is crispy. Inside, there is a layer of buttercream and caramel sauce. The elegant sweetness of the butter and the flavor of caramel blend perfectly! They last for about a week, making them a good choice for a small gift. However, they are a bit pricey for personal consumption... I could have had ramen instead! (laughs) Thank you for the meal!

Pressed butter sandwich, 5 pieces for 1000 yen. I heard about this delicious snack from a friend and was told there was a shop inside Tokyo Station's ticket gate. However, I happened to come across the shop inside Ikebukuro Station and there was no line, so I decided to purchase it. The cookie has a crispy baked aroma, sweetness, and a slightly firm texture that crumbles easily. The cream is smooth and not too sweet, with a subtle buttery taste. The combination of the sweet cookie and the mildly sweet cream gives it a unique taste compared to a regular cookie sandwich, which may feel a bit unusual.

Guests were lining up to buy sweets at the "Press Butter Sand Ikebukuro Store" in Ikebukuro Station. Even on a Tuesday, there was a long line, so I can imagine it must be even busier on weekends. The staff were efficient, and I was able to purchase my order in about 10 minutes despite the line. This was my first time buying from them, and I chose the 9-piece set for 1,710 yen. When I got home and tried them, I was impressed by the stylish packaging. The butter cream filling was rich and luxurious, and the cookie crust was crispy with a great flavor. Although I initially thought it was expensive, the taste was so delicious that I felt it was worth it. I was completely satisfied with the luxurious and rich butter cream filling.

Press Butter Sandwich 5 pieces for 1000 yen. There is a shop outside the ticket gate at Ikebukuro Station. Unlike Tokyo Station, you can buy it without waiting in line. It comes in a stylish package and each piece is individually wrapped, making it a perfect souvenir. It tastes delicious even when slightly chilled.

This is a new candy store located in the underground passage after exiting the gates of Ikebukuro Station on the Marunouchi Line. There are no long lines yet, so you can quickly make a purchase. However, it may become popular and have lines in the future. They sell butter sandwiches with a unique texture - slightly firm but crumbles easily when you bite into it. The butter inside is not too rich, making it enjoyable without getting tired of it. Once you have one, you'll want another. A box of 9 pieces costs 1710 yen, making it a good souvenir option.

In today's Nikkei MJ newspaper, there was an article about BAKE, which operates brands such as "BAKE," "RINGO," and "PRESS BUTTER SAND." When discussing BAKE with a colleague while looking at the newspaper, they mentioned that BAKE is currently selling a chocolate cheese tart for a limited time until Valentine's Day. Excited, I decided to visit the store, only to find a long line of people waiting to buy the chocolate treats. It seems like everyone is after the chocolate flavor!
On the other hand, when I went to PRESS BUTTER SAND, located just a few meters away, there were only a few people in line. I decided to buy some butter sand cookies to take home. BAKE Ikebukuro store and PRESS BUTTER SAND Ikebukuro store are conveniently close to each other, almost next to each other. Similarly, in Tokyo Station, PRESS BUTTER SAND is inside the JR ticket gates, while BAKE is outside the gates.
I bought a box of PRESS BUTTER SAND cookies with 5 pieces for 1,000 yen, and they came in a stylish box. The cookies were firmer than I expected, with a rich buttery flavor. They were filled with buttercream and caramel, creating a delicious combination. The buttery taste and aroma spread in your mouth, giving a satisfying feeling even with just one cookie. Considering the calories, I couldn't eat more than two in one sitting, but I couldn't resist having another one the next day.
The cookies can last for about 10 days. Overall, it was a delightful treat. Now, I must make sure to go back and buy the chocolate cheese tart from BAKE next time!

At the end of the year, my relatives in Ibaraki sent my mother at home some "dried sweet potatoes"♪ There were two types, whole dried sweet potatoes and sliced ones, and I love them♡ They are simple and delicious~ My mother asked me to send something in return, so I wandered around Ikebukuro to find something that she would like... While I was looking around, my friend Minako told me about a popular shop in Ikebukuro station! When we arrived at the shop front... Oh, I just saw this place in a recent review! It was posted by that famous person from Ibaraki! I didn't have to wait in line. I bought some Press Butter Sand (tax included): 5 pieces for 1000 yen, 9 pieces for 1710 yen, and 15 pieces for 2850 yen. Of course, I had to taste it before giving it to someone! I also bought some for myself at home♪ I immediately tried it out ( ¯꒳¯ ) The cream sandwiched inside comes in two types, a creamy caramel cream and a light whipped cream? Despite being called Butter Sand, it doesn't have a strong butter flavor, but it's a safe and pleasant snack in terms of taste and texture. It's good to try it out once to see what it's like^^

At Tokyo Station, there is still a shop where lines form. "Press Butter Sand" was also at Ikebukuro Station, but there was no wait at all! I couldn't help but wonder if it was the same shop? Here it was a hidden gem. Tokyo Station is inside the ticket gates, while Ikebukuro Station is outside, so maybe the ease of buying differs? The packaging is also stylish, making it perfect for souvenirs.
