Visited on: 9/21 Duration: 30 minutes Purpose: Lunch Cost: 970 yen Payment method: Cash Overall rating (excluding drinks): Taste × 0.6 + Service × 0.05 + Atmosphere × 0.15 + Value for money × 0.20 I visited this place after being turned away from another nearby store. I had noticed this place while driving by. It's a ramen shop that uses plant-based ingredients, no meat or fish. I had expected the flavor to be light and healthy due to being plant-based, but it was actually well-seasoned and satisfying for me. If I had to nitpick, I wish they offered a half-size option for the natto fried rice.

I went to a 100% plant-based shojin ramen restaurant in Kusunoki and completely fell in love! The clean and beautiful interior, along with the polite customer service from the staff, reflect the owner's personality. They also sell organic snacks, bread, health foods, and healing products nearby. It seems like the business expanded from a cram school, as there was a young boy eating alone next door. I ordered the salt ramen (¥940-). The noodles were reminiscent of Korean cold noodles, made from whole wheat flour. The toppings included fried yuba, komatsuna, and white onions, as well as sautéed shimeji mushrooms. The soup was made with kombu, dried shiitake mushrooms, vegetables, spices, and over seven types of salt, resulting in a delicate and flavorful broth similar to Taiwanese vegetarian cuisine. I must try other items on the menu next time... I look forward to visiting again!

Finally, I was able to eat miso ramen. It was full of vegetables, had a rich miso flavor, and warmed me up deliciously. The soup-less tantanmen was rich and creamy, very good. The gyoza had a unique okara-like texture, which was fresh but a bit lacking. The natto fried rice had a gentle taste. Thank you for the meal.

This time, I went to eat something called "vege ramen". It seems to be vegetable ramen. The menu board in front of the shop had this written on it: ------------------------------------- Refreshing for the eyes and heart. This is vege ramen - a ramen that doesn't use meat or fish? You might think it won't taste good... that it will be bland... But our vege ramen is healthy enough to eat every day, yet when you take a bite, it leaves an unforgettable aftertaste, unlike any ramen you've had before. ------------------------------------- I see, that's what it's all about. Inside the shop, there is a ticket machine. Since there is a menu board in front of the shop, it might be better to decide what to eat before entering. I wanted to eat ramen, so there are five options to choose from: - Soy sauce vege ramen - Salt vege ramen - Lemon sesame vege ramen - Tomato vege ramen - Miso vege ramen Now, which vege ramen should I choose? Since it's my first time, I chose "Soy sauce vege ramen". I handed the ticket to the staff and waited. The interior of the shop is clean and nice. There are also partitions for infection prevention. After a short wait, it was ready. Wow, it has a unique visual appearance. It's loaded with plenty of vegetables and looks healthy. Instead of chashu, there is fried tofu on top. Let's start with the soup~. The color looks dark, but it wasn't that strong. The soup was easy to drink. It went well with the thin noodles. I thought I might get tired of it halfway through, but I ended up finishing it. Maybe I'll try the miso vege ramen next time. I'll have to go back again.

2022/08/12, 14~ The restaurant had moved and it looked beautiful! They offer soy sauce ramen, lemon ramen, abura soba, and cold noodles. When you want something with a punch, the abura soba is rich and satisfying. For a refreshing option, both the lemon ramen and cold noodles are great. I can't wait to try the miso ramen soon... 2021/01/11, 13:30~ I had the tsukemen and soy sauce ramen. The tsukemen had a hint of tantanmen flavor and a slight acidity. The noodles were thicker than the ramen. I felt it was a bit on the pricey side... 2020/11/29, 20:00~ It was great! Despite the recent trend of vegan ramen, this place stands out as being solid and delicious, unlike other trendy copycat places. The staff and customers all had a friendly and local atmosphere. It was heartwarming to see regular customers greeting each other. Although the inari sushi was sold out, the person ahead of me kindly offered theirs, which I appreciated! I tried the salt lemon and tomato dishes, and I felt they were more like soup pasta than ramen. I look forward to trying the herbal miso next time!!! Also, I noticed that the Uniwa series of restaurants are supporting Kusaba. There seems to be a dedicated parking lot as well!!! I had to limit my stay from 8:00 pm at ¥100/60 minutes ( ; ; )

I am Director Shinichi Fujisaki of BODYPIT KYOTO. I watched a video on YouTube where Hikaru Haga talked about Makomo no Senko incense, and I went to Uniwa Maru. I remembered that he also had a ramen shop, so I asked the staff and found out it was nearby. We went there right away. They blend several types of salt. No additives used! A taste that is gentle on the body. Thank you for the meal.

I heard that they relocated and visited Vegewa after a long time! Vegewa is a plant-based ramen restaurant. They moved to a more prominent location with parking a little further away. They reopened in the same area on September 12, 2021. I tried the Lemon Sesame Ramen, which has a refreshing lemon flavor in a broth made from dried ingredients and vegetables. It's very fresh and enjoyable. If you're looking for a ramen place that uses no meat or fish, you'll be satisfied here.

I visited the Nepalese Kitchen Kumari in Hirasaka, which was previously located in Misaki Heights, about 11 years ago. It moved to a building across from Cafe Ki'an, where the Chinese restaurant Oufu (now closed) used to be. You enter from Kuzuha Avenue, going half underground. The interior has a white wood theme, more like a Japanese restaurant than a ramen shop. There are open kitchen table seats on the right from the entrance, and counter seats on the left. The place seems to attract high school students, probably from the cram school nearby. The menu has expanded since the move. I had tried the "Vegetable Ramen" from their basic menu before. This time, I ordered the Salt Vegetable Ramen for 940 yen. According to their website, it is made with a special salt sauce using seven or more types of salt, finished with white sesame and Sichuan pepper. Toppings include salad greens, daikon radish, wakame seaweed, nori seaweed, fried wheat gluten, shimeji mushrooms, and dried shiitake mushrooms. The noodles are whole grain straight noodles. The soup has a light and easy-to-drink taste. I would like to visit their other affiliated restaurants next time, such as Goshokuji Uniwa, Chasen Uniwa, and Patisserie Uniwa.

Vegetable mixed soba (soy sauce + oil 950 yen) ★★★☆ The noodles are thin straight noodles. The ingredients used are green onions, mizuna, sunny lettuce, kimchi, natto, shimeji mushrooms, thin fried tofu, chopped seaweed, and shredded chili pepper. This restaurant is located in Kusaba, just 300 meters west of "Vege Ramen Yuniva," which moved and reopened on September 12th. The soy sauce and oil base sauce pairs well with the hot noodles, creating a lightly flavored and healthy dish with the sweetness of soy sauce and a spicy kick from doubanjiang and gochujang. The noodles are made with whole wheat flour from Mineya Food Industry, providing a firm texture and a smooth finish. You can enjoy different flavors by adding vinegar and black pepper provided separately. Main menu items include Lemon Sesame Vege Ramen: 990 yen, Soy Sauce Vege Ramen: 940 yen, Salt Vege Ramen: 940 yen, Tomato Vege Ramen: 980 yen, Herbal Miso Vege Ramen: 990 yen, Sun Latan: 990 yen, Cilantro Ramen: 940 yen, Soupless Vege Tantanmen: 970 yen, Vege Oil Soba: 990 yen, Vege Tsukemen: 1150 yen, Lemon Sesame Cold Noodles: 970 yen, Vegetable Mixed Soba (limited): 950 yen, Vege Gyoza (6 pieces): 500 yen.

"Vegetable mixed soba (Wednesday limited) (950 yen)" I visited "Vege Ramen Yuniva," which opened on September 12th. The shop is located about 400 meters west of the original Vege Ramen Yuniva in Katsura, and the nearest station is Keihan Katsura Station. The menu includes soy sauce vege ramen (940 yen), salt vege ramen (940 yen), lemon sesame ramen (990 yen), tomato vege ramen (980 yen), medicinal miso vege ramen (990 yen), coriander ramen (940 yen), vege oil soba (990 yen), vege dipping noodles (regular) (1150 yen), large serving (+210 yen), soupless vege tantanmen (970 yen), and vege mixed soba (Wednesday limited) (950 yen). The sauce is a low-viscosity soy sauce sauce with a mild and smooth soy sauce flavor, with a moderate spiciness from gochujang and doubanjiang, creating a gentle and flavorful taste. The noodles are straight thin noodles made with whole wheat flour. The combination of sauce and ingredients, as well as the texture, is good, with a moderate elasticity and chewiness. The ingredients include sunny lettuce, fried tofu, kimchi, green onions, chopped seaweed, soy meat, natto, and more. You can also adjust the flavor with black pepper, vinegar, and chili oil on the table. Wednesdays offer only the vege mixed soba.

I went with a friend who only eats vegetables. It was my first time trying ramen and I didn't like it. My friend said it was good though! I thought being a vegetarian must be tough.
