This is Mess Kuma at Shin-Osaka Station. There is also a store in Umeda and a store called Tokyo. The main menu is okonomiyaki. The restaurant is located in the dining area on the 1st floor, even though the station platform is on the 3rd floor. It's easy to access as you don't have to leave the station to get there. Please note that there is a neighboring store called Mess Kumako that sells takoyaki. Visiting a bit later than lunchtime, there seems to be plenty of seats available. They offer lunch service only on weekdays from 11:00 to 16:00, making it convenient to visit. The specialty seems to be the Negi Oko, so I ordered the Negi Oko set. Most customers seem to order the Negi Oko as well. There are many elderly salarymen customers, some enjoying beer. Cold tea is readily available at the table, so you won't have trouble with drinks. It seems like they cook in the kitchen and bring it to the customers' seats. Some may have mixed feelings, but in the summer, it's nice not to have the teppan in front of you. The staff are mostly young Osaka dialect-speaking employees. It arrived in about 10 minutes, and it's quite a generous portion. It's topped with plenty of green onions and something that resembles beef. There's also konjac in it, and the egg is almost runny. The yakisoba has thick, soft noodles. The taste is quite sweet and savory, and rich. How you use the finely chopped pickled ginger and plenty of tartar sauce is key. It's delicious no matter how you combine the flavors. You can get full at a cheap price. It's quite junky, but it's delicious occasionally. There are various types of okonomiyaki and negiyaki, but I was very satisfied with this restaurant as well. It's easy to access by both Shinkansen and conventional train passengers. If you have room in your stomach, you can enjoy adding rice and miso soup for an additional 100 yen. Even if it's said to be carb x carb, it's okay.

On top of the pork rice bowl are green onions, shredded dried squid, and a fried egg, which is called "Negi-oko". Adding shrimp and rice cakes to Negi-oko was a big hit! It was delicious! However, when it gets crowded, some people may get frustrated as the ordered items take a while to arrive, so it might be tough for those with limited time. (Shinkansen Machi)

I came to Osaka with limited time and searched for a restaurant near the station. I found one and visited around 5 pm, luckily there was no line. After I ordered, a line started forming. I asked the staff for recommendations and had to settle for water instead of beer since I had to drive. I ordered the Original Negi Okonomiyaki for 1,248 yen and the Special Miso-flavored Hormone Yaki for 1,053 yen. The Hormone Yaki came first and it had a sweet miso flavor. The taste was average and the portion of hormone was not very generous. I wish the bean sprouts were crunchier. The Original Negi Okonomiyaki, on the other hand, was incredibly delicious. The dough was soft and filled with plenty of pork belly. The tendons were also tasty and I was impressed. It was a satisfying meal! I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Okonomiyaki! Takoyaki! It's been years since I last set foot in Shin-Osaka. I found a flour-based food restaurant in the station underground (though it's really on the first floor). It's packed with people! I had the pair set! Their specialty is Negioko, apparently!

I had okonomiyaki while waiting for the Shinkansen. It was a holiday, but I was able to enter the restaurant after waiting for about 10 minutes as it was past 4 pm. I ordered "negi-oko" and a non-alcoholic beer. The beef tendon was delicious. I wanted to have a highball, but I had to drive so I refrained.

I went around 11:40 on a Sunday during a long weekend. I had to wait for about 30 minutes even though the restaurant was empty. Once I ordered, the food came in about 5 minutes which made me happy! The negi oko was delicious. The beef tendons were especially tasty, not too tendon-like but more meaty, and with plenty of green onions.

Located in the dining district "Ajino-koji" in Shin-Osaka Station, this restaurant specializes in negiyaki and okonomiyaki. I visited for the first time in about 6 years for a lunch before heading to my business destination. I arrived around 11:30 am and there were about 5 people waiting in line. After a 5-minute wait, I was able to enter. I ordered the value set which includes both okonomiyaki and negiyaki with rice and miso soup for 980 yen. The turnover was fast, so it seemed like they served freshly made dishes from the kitchen. The portion was unexpectedly large and I regretted adding rice, but I managed to finish it all. I was initially hesitant about ordering the rice set, but it was surprisingly delicious.

I had dinner by myself during a business trip to Osaka. I went to a okonomiyaki restaurant called Messer Kum on the first floor of Shin-Osaka Station. I started with a highball and ordered a Negi Okonomiyaki with beef tendon, green onions, fried egg, and soba noodles. The flavor was on the sweeter side and easy to eat, and I found myself ordering another highball. I left the restaurant feeling slightly tipsy.

I wanted to eat something delicious before boarding the bullet train on my business trip. Since I like soba, I ordered the modern-yaki. I thought it would be overly sweet based on its appearance, but the combination with green onions was perfect, and I enjoyed it all in one go. It's nice to be able to eat something delicious in a casual way.

On my way back from a business trip to Osaka, I felt like eating okonomiyaki and decided to visit this place! It's conveniently located in the Shin-Osaka Station building, but it can get crowded depending on the time, so it's better to visit with some extra time. They cook the food for you at the restaurant. The complimentary kimchi was a nice touch! Perfect for snacking with beer or as a side dish for okonomiyaki. I enjoyed the "Yamitsuki Cucumber" while waiting for the main dishes. The "Horumon Yaki" has a unique sweet miso flavor! I found it sweet, which made me feel like I've become a Kanto person, and I chuckled to myself. The "Negi Oko (Mix)" had plenty of green onions and a variety of seafood like squid and shrimp, as well as beef tendon on top! The batter had a rich sweetness from the eggs, and the balance of sauce, eggs, and green onions was perfect for okonomiyaki! It's easy to eat without feeling too heavy on the stomach, which is great! I wanted to try the yakisoba too, but I was already quite full, so I'll save it for next time!

I watched the high school baseball semifinals at Koshien Stadium on a day trip. On the way back, I ate okonomiyaki at Shin-Osaka Station. Inside the ticket gates, there are many clean and nice restaurants, but this particular restaurant located in "Ajino-kouji" on the 1st floor of the station is an old-fashioned underground mall restaurant. Despite arriving at 2:30 PM on a weekday, there was a line of about 10 people. The air conditioning in the outside corridor was weak, making it hot and uncomfortable to wait. Peeking inside through the glass, I saw many empty seats. However, they wouldn't let us in. Is this normal in Osaka? I felt skeptical, but with no time to spare, I reluctantly waited in line for about 20 minutes before entering. I ordered the "Negi-oko" modern style for 1573 yen, the Butatama modern style for 1353 yen, a draft beer for 594 yen, and a ginger sour for 550 yen. It arrived in just over 10 minutes. The taste was quite ordinary. In Osaka, they seem to put beef tendons in okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki I had in Hiroshima was much tastier. Considering the service and taste, this is my evaluation. I won't be coming back here.

Wow! Negioko! Delicious! It's like okonomiyaki with plenty of green onions and beef tendons, and a thin crust. The restaurant opens at 11 am, and there was already a line forming before noon. It's the kind of place that makes you want to drink alcohol in the afternoon!

This summer, we went on an okonomiyaki tour starting from Hiroshima and now we are in Osaka. We stopped by at Shin-Osaka Station building to have our meal. Despite the long line before the opening at 11:30, we were able to get in quickly. Since there were two of us, we ordered okonomiyaki, negiyaki, and horumon yaki. It was really delicious and went well with beer. You can find delicious restaurants even in station buildings! Thank you for the meal.

This shop on the first floor of Shin-Osaka Station is quite popular despite its spacious interior, often with a line forming quickly. They offer a variety of teppanyaki dishes, all of which are delicious. The tonpeiyaki in particular was very tasty. If you're looking for a taste of Osaka in Shin-Osaka, I recommend this place. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at Shin-Osaka Station and decided to try out a restaurant that seemed to specialize in flour-based dishes. I ordered the negiyaki set, which came with negiyaki (green onion pancake), fried egg, and yakisoba for 980 yen. The cost performance was good. However, the conclusion was that the food was not delicious as it seemed to be precooked and reheated. I ended up leaving half of it uneaten. It was listed as one of the top 100 restaurants in 2019? That's a lie, right? I wouldn't recommend going there.

Dinner on July 28, 2023 (Friday) with my partner during our trip to Osaka (1st day). We took the Nozomi 81 train from Tokyo at 6:30 PM and arrived at Shin-Osaka at 9 PM. This was our third consecutive weekend trip. Since it was late, we decided to try an okonomiyaki restaurant on the 1st floor of Shin-Osaka station, in the Taste Alley. The place was quite busy, but we were seated quickly. We ordered a draft beer (540 yen including tax), the popular Negi Oko Mix (Squid, Shrimp, Pork) for 1630 yen (including tax), and a Osaka-style Negiyaki with beef tendon for 1530 yen (including tax). We chose soy sauce for the Negiyaki. The Negi Oko arrived first, and it was fluffy and flavorful, with a good dashi taste. The sauces and condiments were also delicious. The Negiyaki had a nice soy sauce flavor with a hint of burnt soy sauce that was tasty. I had another beer, and the total bill came to 5258 yen, which felt a bit pricey, but the food was quite good. We then took the Midosuji Line to Namba, where we checked into our hotel for the Osaka trip, the Apa Hotel Namba Ekimae Higashi. On this day in Japan, Shohei Ohtani pitched a one-hit complete game in the Tigers' doubleheader, almost a no-hitter. He got his 9th win. In the second game, he hit two home runs, his 37th and 38th of the season. It was a remarkable day.

I wanted to eat delicious okonomiyaki, so I visited the restaurant. At 11:40, there was a line of about 10 people, and I waited for 14 minutes to enter. I ordered the specialty Negi Okonomiyaki set (tax included 1091 yen). Under the green onions, there was an okonomiyaki with a fried egg on top, as well as chunks of beef tendon and konjac. It also came with yakisoba, so it was a great value and I can see why it's popular.

I came all the way to Osaka, so I thought I should eat something typical of Osaka before heading back. I found a place at Shin-Osaka Station called "Negi Oko" and decided to give it a try. They asked if I smoked, so you can smoke at your table! I ordered a draft beer and negi okonomiyaki. Negi okonomiyaki is a type of okonomiyaki with lots of green onions on top, and it had konjac and beef tendons as toppings. It was affordable and really tasted like Osaka. I had some time left and was still a bit hungry, so I also ordered a highball and grilled squid. It was a nice way to experience Osaka before taking the Shinkansen back home and sleeping.

I visited the restaurant for lunch alone. I was running late for lunch and thought I should try something typical of Osaka. I had to wait a bit before entering during lunchtime on a weekday. Inside, there were people who seemed to be on business trips, both Japanese and foreign tourists. There were many table seats, and the tables were large, so even if you have a big bag, it wouldn't be in the way. It might be a good idea to place your luggage in the spacious area. I ordered the Negi Oko set. Being able to add rice to the set feels very Osaka-like. Thank you for the meal.

It was a shop with a very welcoming atmosphere, perfect for even one person, unique to a station. Although ordering the mille-feuille tonpeiyaki, miso hormone stir-fry, and the famous negi oko was a bit too much for one person, I was able to fully enjoy Osaka. Especially, the combination of the hormone stir-fry and beer was excellent.
