Moji Port Retro King's Egg @ Moji Port 2012.9.2
Before Moji Port Station undergoes a major renovation, I decided to come and see it one more time. I had already decided on a curry restaurant for lunch, so I chose the restaurant in advance. The building with impressive bricks. It is the entrance along the road. There is a terrace on the seaside where you can enjoy outstanding views. Since the weather was good, I decided to eat on the terrace instead of inside the restaurant. There is a space for children to play near the terrace. This is the lunch menu for weekends and holidays. I plan to visit another curry restaurant, so I ordered a single item. Here is the drink menu. Water is self-service. Local vegetable baked curry. Seafood curry with seafood. The basic curry is not very spicy, with a strong umami flavor. There is a soft-boiled egg under the melting cheese, adding a rich and mild taste. Special spicy seasoning. If you like spicy food, adding this will increase the spiciness, but it is not extremely spicy. As the name "King's Egg" suggests, they also have omurice, which I would like to try. Address: 9-4 Minatomachi, Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture Bulk Building 1F Phone number: 093-321-0120 Business hours: 11:00-21:00 Closed: Irregular holidays Nearest station: Moji Port

The curry was hot but not too spicy, and it seemed to be well-received by everyone. The atmosphere is casual and good for a relaxed meal. The staff were kind even to demanding tourists, which was nice to see. I tried the King's Curry (920 yen) and was hoping for a runny egg, but instead found a hard yolk. Overall, dining at Mitsui Club for a leisurely lunch is great, but a lively and casual lunch is also enjoyable.

Outside of Moji Port, you rarely see baked curry. The sizzling baked curry with plenty of cheese is definitely delicious. It's a bit disappointing that the egg inside is not runny, but rather has a firm yolk. It was quite crowded during the daytime of Golden Week, so it took a while for the order to come out. It's a tourist spot, so waiting is inevitable.

I passed through the Kanmon Tunnel connecting Honshu and Kyushu and enjoyed the famous baked curry and banana juice at Moji Port. The port town illuminated at night was fantastical. I tried the specialty baked curry in Moji. The baked curry was mildly spicy with plenty of cheese, similar to a cheesy gratin. When you break the cheese, an egg appears. By mixing the egg yolk, it becomes smoother and more delicious. The banana juice was rich and helped to balance out the spiciness, making it a good choice for those who are not fond of spicy food. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Tamago, the king of Moji Port! I ordered the King's demi-glace omelette rice, vegetable-packed baked curry, and the King's baked curry. The omelette rice used shining yellow eggs and the eggs were delicious. The baked curry was topped with plenty of cheese. For dessert, we shared pancakes. The fluffy pancakes and delicious cream were amazing!

When my family visited Mojiko for sightseeing, my wife wanted to eat baked curry, so we looked for a restaurant where we could bring our young son and decided on this place because they also had a children's lunch menu. The restaurant had indoor and terrace seating, and this time we chose to dine on the terrace. However, due to the shade from the roof, there were seats with little shade (as the seats were crowded), so we were seated at a table with limited shade, which made me feel a bit hot as the season gets warmer. We ordered the King's Baked Curry (920 yen) and Blowfish Karaage (480 yen) this time. The combination of the special egg and curry was excellent, and I realized that there are various types of baked curry depending on the restaurant. The blowfish karaage was also delicious. By the way, my wife ordered the Seafood Baked Curry (1180 yen) and was delighted to be able to enjoy the famous Mojiko gourmet baked curry for the first time, saying "it's delicious." Our son also enjoyed his children's lunch. It was great to be able to enjoy the long-awaited Mojiko gourmet with my family. Thank you for the meal.

Eating curry on the outdoor terrace was a bit chilly, but the curry was piping hot so it was okay. However, it was a bit too dark, so they should have added more lighting to the table. I deducted half a star for that. The taste was delicious!

The curry was delicious. I ordered the vegetable curry thinking it would come with an egg since there was no egg in the photo, but it turned out the egg was inside the cheese, which was a bit disappointing (although egg lovers would probably love it). I'm not a fan of eggs, but I still wanted to eat curry. These things happen, right? When I tried to order a fruit sandwich for takeout, they told me to order from the outside counter. It started raining, so I gave up on going outside. But it looked so delicious! They accept PayPay.

Today, I visited a restaurant and ended up eating baked curry as part of the conversation flow. It was Sunday lunchtime and there was a 45-minute wait to get in. The wind was strong and cold, so finally being able to eat baked curry was a relief. I realized once again how much I love curry (laughs).

When searching for famous items in Moji Port, there were many curry restaurants lined up. Without even looking for it, I entered one where TV coverage was mentioned. I chose the baked curry without looking at the menu. It was crowded, but the piping hot dish arrived in about 15 minutes. The baked cheese was fragrant, and a boiled egg appeared from the inside, giving it a fun touch. In terms of taste, I thought it could be a bit spicier. I tried adding some spices halfway through, but I still wished for more heat.

Moji Port~ (^ω^) I came here after a long time♪♫ It was around 3 pm, and not many shops were open, but this place was open for business, which was a relief! You could choose between indoor seating and terrace seating, and I chose indoor seating (^.^) It seemed like most people preferred the terrace due to the weather, but I seized the opportunity to sit indoors! I had the hamburger omelette rice. It had demi-glace sauce poured over it, and the rice was white. The sauce was light and you could taste the tomato in it, quite refreshing. The hamburger had a minced meat texture, but was a bit firm with some tough bits, which I wasn't a fan of. The omelette rice was the normal kind. It seemed to use a special brand of eggs, as the egg was runny and half-cooked. However, I couldn't really tell the difference in taste. It was a delicious omelette rice that you could enjoy without getting tired of it, but adding a bit of butter to the white rice could give it a bit more richness and variety. Also, the perfectly cooked egg had some burnt bits from the frying pan, which was a bit off-putting. Sorry for being so nitpicky. Thank you for the meal (*☻-☻*) Maybe next time I'll try the baked curry(о´∀`о)

This is a curry restaurant located on the second floor of a building facing the port, about a 2-minute walk from Moji Port Station, the starting point of the JR Kagoshima Main Line. It was a holiday evening when I visited, a bit early for dinner but I had plans to move around afterwards so I decided to have an early dinner. The restaurant was not crowded, probably because it was still early and the days were long during that season. The building of the restaurant was easy to spot with its sign, but the entrance (stairs to the second floor) was a bit hard to find coming from the station, so I got a little lost. Maybe there are rules about not putting out blackboards or signs on the sidewalk. Inside the restaurant, the seating area near the window with a view of the port was spacious and bright, like a prime seat. I ordered a beer first and then the curry with three types of meat. The staff, who seemed quite young, was running the restaurant. The curry arrived in about 10 minutes, and it was warned to be hot. It was served in a heat-resistant dish with rice, curry, and cheese baked in an oven. Not just the dish, but the content was also hot. It would be a challenge for someone with a sensitive tongue. I ate slowly while enjoying the view, interpreting it as a suggestion to eat slowly before it cools down. I managed to resist the temptation to order another beer (laughs). It was delicious. The local beer was also good. Thank you for the meal.

Second visit. Since the first visit was a long time ago, it almost felt like a first visit. It's often featured on TV for its specialty of creamy eggs. However, what arrived was a curry with solidified eggs on top. I chose this place specifically for the creamy eggs, so I was left feeling disappointed.

I visited the restaurant wanting to enjoy the famous baked curry of Moji Port while looking at the sea. I arrived early, but it was almost full. The terrace seats were open and refreshing, but the floor was quite shaky. The blowfish fry and baked curry were delicious! It might have been even more enjoyable if there were different varieties or ways to change the taste.

Moji-ku, Kitakyushu City, Minatomachi. Located on the first floor of the Bulk Building, this Western-style restaurant has been featured on various TV shows such as "Otona na TV," "Chotto Fukuoka Ittekimashita," and "Banana Man no Sekkaku Gurume." Their popular dishes include curry and omurice made with Fukuoka's brand eggs "Kiko Egg." Recently, they have also been focusing on pancakes. The King's Curry and the King's Omurice are their signature dishes. This time, I ordered the King's Omurice (880 yen) with Set A (+200 yen), which allows you to choose either salad or soup. I chose the soup. The King's Omurice is made with fluffy omelette using Kiko Egg and topped with demiglace sauce. The demiglace sauce has a strong acidity, similar to tomato sauce, with a good depth of flavor. The presence of the egg is outstanding. The soup is a consomme soup with egg, served in a cup for you to pour yourself. Parsley and pepper are also available for seasoning, and homemade pickles are served on the side. This restaurant was featured in the Short Series "Kyonen ni wa Mochikoshitakunai Omise 2021 - Kotoshi wa Moji-ku," and after being introduced on Banana Man no Sekkaku Gurume, it became quite crowded, especially after the start of an event in Moji Port during the state of emergency. Despite the cold weather and full house, there was only a short wait for two groups on the day I visited. It was a lucky chance to visit at the last opportunity of the year. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant for the first time on Sunday around 2:30 pm. I ordered the signature dish, "King's Baked Curry (880 yen)." The food arrived in about 7-8 minutes, still bubbling hot. As I took the first bite, it was too hot for my sensitive tongue. The spiciness was very mild, almost just a hint of heat. The creamy egg helped mellow out the spiciness. Even though it was not very spicy, I would like to try other baked curries if I have the chance.

I came all the way to Kitakyushu City and decided to visit Moji Port Station on the JR Kagoshima Main Line to try a local gourmet dish. I strolled around enjoying the retro atmosphere of Moji Port, with its Western-style buildings. Afterwards, I headed to a restaurant known for its "Moji Port Baked Curry," which I had chosen from several options. I was a bit torn between the terrace and indoor seating, but due to the unseasonably hot weather, I opted for the cool indoor seating. I arrived right at 3:00 pm and was informed that I could still order from the lunch menu. I ordered the "King's Baked Curry" along with a highball on the rocks. The dish arrived in about 15 minutes and resembled a gratin. The crispy crust was delicious, and the curry flavor, slow-cooked to perfection, combined with the cheese and egg for a rich and flavorful experience. As I was leaving, I saw the terrace seating facing the sea, which had a lovely ambiance. I decided that I would definitely try that out next time.

Moji Port Stroll. I remember seeing a shop here that was featured for its omelette rice and pancakes. "Would you like some dessert?" I thought, but then there was a steep staircase. Unfortunately, it was a shame, but there was no other choice. "Shall we take a walk by the port to feel the wind?" I thought, only to find out you can enter from the back door. A bit rickety, but the entrance was fine. Inside, there were table seats and terrace seats. Since the weather was nice, we chose the terrace seats. Now, apparently, curry rice is more popular than omelette rice, thanks to Nihonjin eating curry rice. So, I ordered the curry rice. It was like sweet risotto? I saw this as something to cool down while it's hot and steaming. Also, I ordered the pancakes. (Pancakes take time to become fluffy) Surprisingly fluffy. Not as sweet as it looks. But, the sweetness increased with maple syrup. It must surely create a unique atmosphere of a somewhat awkward first date, or the special tension before starting a relationship. Both the female and male staff were young and wonderful. Lately, I feel that young people are more comfortable interacting with people with disabilities. Even without the arrival of youth, we had a good time. Thank you for having us.

This is a restaurant that serves baked curry. The area around here was full of cafes that serve baked curry. I randomly chose this place to try. I haven't had baked curry too often, so it's hard to compare with others, but I think it's quite delicious. However, baked curry is something you can also make at home and it tastes good, so if you choose to eat baked curry here, I recommend stopping by while enjoying the atmosphere of Mojiko Retro on your way.

The shop is located near Mojiko Retro, diagonally across from the Mojiko Post Office Building where the FamilyMart Retro Mojiko Station is located. There is no parking at the shop, but there is a 100 yen parking lot nearby. The shop has table seating and terrace seating. Lunch menu options include King's Baked Curry, Vegetable-packed Baked Curry, Seafood Baked Curry, Grilled Chicken Baked Curry, Homemade Hamburger Baked Curry, King's Demiglace Omelette Rice, Demiglace Grilled Chicken Omelette Rice, Carbonara Omelette Rice, Hakata Cod Roe Cream Omelette Rice, Homemade Hamburger Demiglace Omelette Rice, and Children's Plate. They also offer various sandwich options and eat-in menu items such as Fluffy Pancakes with Maple Syrup, Hot Chocolate Sauce Fluffy Pancakes, and Rich Matcha Sauce Fluffy Pancakes. They have alcoholic beverages like Sakura Beer and Vawen as well. The reviewer tried the White Peach Cream Custard and Hot Chocolate Sauce Fluffy Pancakes. The pancakes were fluffy and had a light texture. Eating them with the vanilla ice cream topping provided a refreshing contrast. Adding the chocolate sauce brought a rich sweetness and flavor change. While the reviewer initially thought they could finish it easily, they found it to be quite filling and couldn't finish it alone. Overall, they were satisfied with the fluffy pancakes that they couldn't recreate at home.

*King's Demi-glace Omurice 880 yen
When it comes to Moji Port, you think of baked curry. While they do have a menu for baked curry, the restaurant's name is "King's Tamago," so I ordered the omurice. To put it simply, it's white rice topped with a runny egg and smothered in a generous amount of demi-glace sauce. The egg is deliciously runny, but since the inside is just white rice, it lacks flavor without being thoroughly coated in the demi-glace sauce. However, if you coat it generously, the flavor of the egg gets lost. Hmm, not quite sure about this.
*Atmosphere Retro Cute shop in the district. Convenient location just a short walk from the station. No parking available. Choose between terrace seating and indoor seating.
