I didn't have high expectations when I entered this restaurant, but the soup was incredibly delicious. There was no unpleasant smell, but the richness of the flavor spread in my mouth. I asked the manager if they were adding something extra, and they said it was just pork bone. The location of the ticket machine was a bit unusual, but it was a great restaurant.

Fukuoka City Rokumonsu Karakiya Counter seat only style where you buy from a ticket machine located at the back of the store, so be careful ... lol For now, the cost performance is good at 390 yen, and this taste is definitely Hakata tonkotsu ramen. There are pickled ginger and sesame on the counter, and you can crush the garlic yourself. I like this style because it feels fresh. I had a meeting right after, so I kept it light, but for 390 yen, it's a good deal. #Good cost performance #Hakata ramen #Garlic crusher #Adjustable taste #Can change the taste #Finished in less than 10 minutes

After having a few drinks, I decided to try the ramen here for the first time. There are several locations of Karakiya, but this was my first time at the Rokumonmatsu branch. The shop is a bit narrow with counter seats on both sides and a ticket machine at the back. I ordered the default ramen with firm noodles for 350 yen. It looked like a simple Hakata-style ramen. The soup was also quite traditional. I added extra noodles for 130 yen and some pickled ginger for a bit of flavor change, totaling 480 yen. It's a great value ramen that you can enjoy casually. Looking at the ticket machine, they also offer curry sets and fried chicken sets, so you can have a proper meal here. Thank you for the meal.

I went out for lunch and was thrilled to receive change back for just one coin, allowing me to enjoy a large serving! I devoured the light tonkotsu ramen with gusto - it was delicious! I could also customize the flavor by adding sesame seeds, red pickled ginger, or pepper. When looking for a cost-effective lunch spot in Ropponmatsu, this place comes highly recommended!

Ramen shop in Rokumonmatsu specializing in Hakata ramen. Visited for a snack in the evening.
~Order~
Spicy minced meat ramen 480 yen
A menu where spicy minced meat is topped on the default simple Hakata ramen. The soup is a light pork bone broth typical of Hakata ramen. The noodles are thin and average for Hakata. The portion is quite small, perhaps assuming that customers will order an extra serving. Despite being labeled as "spicy," it wasn't very spicy.
~Summary~
The taste is average, but the price is low. I often eat Hakata ramen as a snack, so I appreciate ramen shops that are cheap and serve smaller portions. While specialty shops are nice, I also hope that these kinds of shops thrive. Thank you for the meal.

After a drinking party in Rokubonmatsu... We headed to this place for ramen as a finale! There are several other branches, known for their cheap ramen...! I haven't been here since my student days, so it's been a long time since I visited! The interior has a small space with a counter and tables! You purchase a food ticket at the ticket machine next to the entrance! I ordered the following set because it was a good deal... ■ Ramen (350 yen) ■ Char siu appetizer ■ Bottle of beer I enjoyed the char siu appetizer with a beer in hand! It's topped with plenty of green onions and a slightly sweet sauce... The soy sauce-based marination is just right, not too strong, and you can really taste the flavor of the meat in the char siu! Hmm, this goes well with beer! Next up is the ramen! It has a refreshing tonkotsu soup! Some may find it lacking in tonkotsu flavor, but after drinking, this amount is just right... Plus, it's cheap! Adding pepper enhances the deliciousness of the soup even more! Due to the simple tonkotsu base, flavors like sesame really stand out... It felt like I went back to my student days after a long time! I used to eat this a lot late at night... Thank you for the meal!

Title "Fukuoka Trip by Plane in Autumn 2021 Part 6, Great Value Set"
On the third day of the autumn 2021 Fukuoka trip by plane, we headed to Fukuoka City Zoo in the morning without eating breakfast, followed by a visit to Fukuoka City Science Museum in Ropponmatsu. We stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a place to have lunch before the museum. There was a ticket machine at the back of the restaurant, and it seemed a bit challenging during peak hours. The small restaurant had only a counter. We ordered the "Mini Curry Set (Ramen and Curry set) for 600 yen." Since the ramen alone was priced at 350 yen, the estimated price of the mini curry was around 250 yen. The regular curry was priced at 420 yen. The curry arrived in about 40 seconds, followed by the ramen in 80 seconds! It was so fast that I couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow!" The staff member had a proud look on their face! I started with the curry. Here is the rating out of 10 points:
Curry: 6 points
Rice: 5 points
Ingredients: 5 points
Next, I tried the ramen:
Soup: 8 points
Noodles: 8 points
Ingredients: 6 points
Overall rating: 7 points
This small counter-only restaurant prided itself on its affordability, so the curry and ramen were not exceptionally delicious, but they were subtly tasty and worth the price. It was great to unexpectedly find a nice restaurant. If I ever come back to Ropponmatsu, I would love to visit again. (2021.11.13)

When I visited Hakata for a homecoming trip, I tried their soul food, tonkotsu ramen. Ramen in Hakata is still relatively cheap, but prices have been rising everywhere. However, this shop in Hakata offers tonkotsu ramen at a lower price! A bowl of ramen and 2 pieces of karaage cost 480 yen. The barikata ramen alone is only 350 yen! This is a great deal! The soup has a slightly strong salty taste. While the soup and ingredients don't have any strong characteristics, when paired with the barikata noodles, you can experience the simple soul food essence of Hakata. It was also delicious with added garlic for an extra punch. This ramen is recommended for when you want a light and crispy meal. Thank you for the meal!

I had been rejected by the restaurants I wanted to go to and ended up becoming a lunch refugee. I didn't know what to do until I found Karakiya. Inside, there were counter seats facing each other. The prices were reasonable, so there were many high school students, including girls. I bought a meal ticket at the back and took my seat. After a while, the ramen arrived. The taste was neither good nor bad, just average. The 350 yen price was reasonable for the ramen. It's understandable why there were many students there due to the affordable prices. Thank you for the meal.

The economic situation in the country is dramatically bad right now!! Recently, I had Taiwanese minced pork, homemade spicy miso, garlic chive soy sauce, sweet potato stew, kelp water, homemade furikake, namul, homemade garlic chive yakiniku sauce, and anything else I could make at home haha. So, I decided to have cheap ramen for lunch at Karakiya! I ordered the 350 yen Barikata ramen and a small bowl of rice for 100 yen. The ramen arrived quickly, and although the soup was a bit thin, I added some chili oil, pepper, red pickled ginger, and sesame to enhance the flavor haha. It wasn't super rich, but for this price, I prefer it over the 290 yen ramen!! The char siu was so tender and delicious~ Thank you for the meal!

Ramen for 350 yen! Extra noodles for 100 yen. The shop is small, but who's complaining? They have red pickled ginger and sesame seeds available, and fresh garlic to squeeze in, which is much appreciated. The ramen is not mind-blowing, but it's pretty tasty. This place is where the original Hakata ramen originated. (The photo is of the wood ear mushroom ramen I had this time.)

"I was attracted by the sign that said 'light taste' and the cheap price of 350 yen, so I decided to try it out. As a Kansai person who was imagining soy sauce ramen, I was surprised to find out it was tonkotsu ramen, but it was only 350 yen (although they have raised the price). It's not a hearty meal, but it's perfect for when you just want to quickly slurp down some ramen. Thank you for the meal!"

There are several shops in Fukuoka and its surrounding areas that offer ramen for 290 yen, and one of them not only serves ramen but also has a variety of menu items such as fried chicken and curry. I purchased a ticket for the fried chicken set meal for 550 yen this time. Since the ramen is 290 yen, the set meal is only 260 yen more, making it a great deal. After waiting at the counter for a while, the ramen and fried chicken, along with rice, were served almost at the same time. The fried chicken was hot and freshly cooked since it was not crowded. The ramen had thin noodles and a slightly light soup, typical of this type of shop. The meat was shaped like char siu, which was a nice touch. The set meal did not come with any side vegetables, probably to keep costs low since the shop's main focus is not set meals. The rice was served with two pieces of pickled radish. Red pickled ginger and sesame were available at the counter for seasoning. For this price, there was no spicy pickled vegetables. The meal was delicious and filling for 550 yen. Even though Kyushu University has relocated, the nearby students still seem to find this shop convenient. Thank you for the meal.

That being said, the must-try dish at this restaurant is the curry ramen, which costs 450 yen. If you prefer a standard tonkotsu ramen, you can opt for the cheaper option at 290 yen. It's rare to find ramen for 290 yen in the Kanto region, right? What's even better is that this restaurant has multiple locations throughout Fukuoka city. If you ever visit Fukuoka, be sure to try it out as a fun experience. You can really get a bowl of ramen for just 290 yen!

The cost performance is great, but the taste may be just average. It's your typical Hakata ramen with pork bone soup and straight noodles, topped with a small slice of thin chashu. It's best not to have high expectations.

Fukuoka's cheap ramen is not to be underestimated. It's reassuring to be able to eat a bowl for under 400 yen, considering that the current market price is double that. The taste is a bit light, but it does have the flavor of tonkotsu broth. However, because the umami is weak, the saltiness stands out and can be a bit harsh on the throat. Perhaps all ramen places are the same, or maybe they have even more salt, but the light flavor makes the saltiness noticeable. It may be challenging, but improving this saltiness could greatly enhance the dish. The noodles are tasty and easy to eat. It's a struggle to eat ramen in this hot season. On a side note, thank you for the meal.
