Today, my stomach feels good and my appetite is in full swing. Although it's like this all year round... (bitter smile) So, starting today, I will be working in the afternoon. Oh no~ (>_<) I left home early and patrolled from Shin-Sakae to Honmachi. When passing by the so-called Ginza Street, I noticed several lunch banners fluttering in the wind. I stopped my car on the road, ran to the entrance of a restaurant, but it seemed like they weren't open yet. However, I saw the menu board outside and thought, ¥950 seems a bit extravagant. But it looks delicious, so I decided to go for it! I immediately returned to my car, made a U-turn, parked in the parking lot behind the restaurant, and went back to the entrance. The place used to be a historic fish cake shop, and the building has a very retro feel. *If you want to know more, please search it up. The restaurant opened at 11 a.m., and as soon as the door opened, I heard a loud voice saying, "Welcome~" A young lady, maybe a staff member, guided me to a table near the entrance. Although it's an izakaya, they also serve lunch, and they are open all year round without a break. Impressive! For lunch, you can choose two dishes from a selection of 10 on a small blackboard-like board. I asked the lady which dishes were the most popular, and she recommended the "simmered yellowtail collar" and "sirloin grilled meat." So, I ordered those. The dishes arrived after a 10-minute wait. The room was lit up, and the dishes were like spotlights. The presentation looked high-quality. The dishes included: - Simmered yellowtail collar - Grilled sirloin meat - Side dish: simmered potatoes and squid - Steamed egg custard - Miso soup - Dessert: coffee mousse or something similar - Pickles I tried the simmered yellowtail collar first, and it was delicious! The fried shredded burdock on top was crispy and added a nice texture. The yellowtail was tender and flavorful, and the broth was just right in terms of flavor. It was so good that I ended up finishing all the rice. I couldn't resist asking for a second serving of rice, which was free. Next, I tried the grilled sirloin meat, which had a unique flavor but was tender and tasty. It was a bit hard to fully appreciate the taste after the flavorful yellowtail collar, so I felt like I should have tried the meat first. The side dish of simmered potatoes and squid was lightly seasoned but delicious, and the steamed egg custard was smooth and flavorful. The rice was shiny and tasty. It was a delicious lunch that you can find if you look for hidden gems on food review websites. (*^^*) Thank you for the meal. Now, off to work! ⤵
