Great value for money seafood lunch! I missed out on the limited quantity of boiled fish and daily special when I arrived after 12 o'clock, so I ordered the sashimi set for 1,000 yen. The sashimi was delicious, and the white fish fry was crispy and satisfying. The white rice was also tasty, which I appreciated.

I went to Hakata♪ It was crowded everywhere because the fireworks festival, Nakasu Jazz Festival, and B'z live concert were all happening at the same time. I ordered: *Fresh squid sashimi *Thai-style boiled sea bream *Grilled ham skewers *Miso pickles *Tomato slices The fresh squid sashimi was delicious, I tried it for the first time and loved it. The Thai-style boiled sea bream had a perfect sweet and savory flavor. I wish there was a place like this in Nagoya! Thank you for the meal!

(2023.08.29) The "Tenjin Building", an 11-story building with 3 basement floors located in the prime location of Tenjin in Fukuoka, was completed in 1960. It was a rare high-rise building at that time, with Arita porcelain tiles on the exterior, innovative features such as the arcade space on the ground floor and the underground restaurant street, attracting visitors from all over the country. The building still stands today, with many people seeking shelter from the rain in the arcade space and the underground restaurant street remaining essential for nearby office workers. Despite its retro feel, the building remains lively due to its direct connection to the Tenjin underground shopping area. Among the 15 or so eateries, I chose to dine at "Asajiro," an izakaya with plastic food samples displayed outside. The restaurant had a wide entrance and surprising depth, with counter seats, table seats, and even raised tatami seating for group dining. I opted for the "Conger Eel and Sand Sole Tempura & Sashimi Set" lunch menu, which included 2 pieces of conger eel and 2 sand soles, lightly fried to a crispy texture. The sand soles were small but plump, offering a satisfying crunch, and the sashimi, yellowtail for the day, had a firm yet tender texture, making for a delicious meal.

Passing by the storefront, I visited a shop that always sells out of its daily lunch special. I arrived around 11 AM on a weekday and there were already two customers ahead of me. Soon after, more people started coming in, and the place quickly became full. It was obviously a very popular spot. Since I was dining alone, I was seated at the counter. I ordered the daily lunch special that always sells out, which on this day was the maguro and saba rice bowl with udon for 850 yen. The food was served within about 5 minutes. The udon was a soft type from Hakata with a flavorful broth and toppings like green onions, fish cake, and shredded seaweed. The maguro and saba rice bowl came with sesame-seasoned saba and fresh maguro sashimi on top of warm rice. It was delicious! Most of the other customers around me were ordering the daily lunch special or the sashimi set, so I've decided to try the sashimi set next time. This will be my go-to choice when I want to have a quick lunch and craving for some fresh fish. Looking forward to it!

It seemed like most of the customers were local workers. The turnover was quick, with customers coming in one after another. I ordered the "Sesame Amberjack Set Meal," which was the most popular item. Most other customers ordered the daily special, which sold out quickly. The taste was good, with the amberjack seasoned with sweet soy sauce and sesame, and a touch of wasabi added the perfect kick. The fried white fish and rolled omelette were decent. The miso soup had a slightly sweet taste. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I went for lunch the other day and it was delicious, so I went again today. They have daily specials that sell out quickly, so today I had the sesame amberjack set meal again. It comes with fried horse mackerel and rolled omelette for 1000 yen. I arrived right at 12 o'clock so I was able to get in without waiting in line.

This is a shop located in the center of Tenjin, Fukuoka City. It is located in the dining area on the basement floor of the Tenjin Building. I decided to have a business lunch here. I visited on a weekday at lunchtime. It was crowded with nearby office workers. The surrounding restaurants were also busy, so it doesn't seem like this place is particularly popular. I lined up for a bit before entering. It's what you would call a pub lunch. It's a lunch where the dishes are like those you would have with alcohol at night, plus rice. I really felt like having a drink, but I resisted and focused on the meal. I ordered the Sesame Amberjack Set Meal for 950 yen. This lunch comes with sesame amberjack and fried white fish. Sesame amberjack is a common dish in Fukuoka. It's slices of amberjack sashimi with a slightly sweet sesame sauce. It's delicious. The rice goes well with it. I still feel like having a drink. The fried white fish is the typical commercial type you find in bento boxes with seaweed on top. Honestly, it's not particularly tasty, but I guess it was added to complement the sesame amberjack. That's how the lunch was at this kind of pub-style restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

In the middle of Tenjin, there is a drink-all-you-can course starting from ¥3500, which is quite cheap. It was my first visit, so I opted for the ¥4000 course and planned to order squid separately if it was available. By the time I visited in August, the place was packed with local office workers, creating a lively atmosphere. When I ordered the squid, they informed me that they didn't have the right size available, and asked if I wanted a larger or smaller one. I decided to go for the larger size, and it turned out to be a big portion! The squid was fresh, had a good texture, and was really delicious. This made the dining experience satisfying, but I might have felt a bit disappointed if they didn't have the squid. Overall, the food was tasty. I feel like you can also enjoy ordering dishes a la carte. The menu includes: appetizer platter, assorted seasonal fish, grilled fish, hot pot, chicken skewers, grated yam rice with miso soup, and ice cream.

On October 2nd (Saturday), we were planning to go to "Kinsaiya" (an okonomiyaki restaurant) located in the same building and floor, but they had a rule due to COVID-19 measures that "table seating is limited to 4 people." Since there were 5 of us, we could have been seated separately and still entered, but we wanted to sit together, so we decided to change to this restaurant at the last minute. It seemed that on weekdays, many office workers use the restaurant, but on this Saturday, the place was not crowded. The mackerel is not too big, but not small either, just the right size. It comes with rice, miso soup, a small portion of chilled tofu, and a little bit of pickles. The mackerel is nothing special, just normal. It's a good option for a regular lunch. The salt-grilled mackerel set meal for 800 yen, I wonder what everyone thinks about it. Somehow, if it were 750 yen, it would feel like a better deal, but at 800 yen... It's not expensive, but if it were 50 yen less, it would make a slightly different impression, I thought.

After a meeting, I was taken to this restaurant by a local. I wanted to go to Shin Miura right nearby, but I ended up at this restaurant instead. Looking at the menu, the most popular item was the Sesame Kanpachi set meal and the daily special. The daily special was croquettes, so I decided to order the Sesame Kanpachi set meal without hesitation. I briefly saw that it was topped with tartar sauce, so I thought it might be a set with Sesame Kanpachi and Chicken Nanban! But upon closer inspection of the menu, it mentioned that it came with a white fish fry. I was hoping for some seafood side dish to go with the Sesame Kanpachi, but the white fish fry seemed larger in size? The Sesame Kanpachi was covered with a thick layer of seaweed, so I couldn't see the fish itself. I quickly took a photo with my companion. But when I actually tasted it, it was truly exceptional. It was fresh and incredibly delicious! The portion size was also sufficient. Truly a great restaurant worth being taken to by my companion. Amazingly delicious, definitely worth visiting in Hakata.

This was my first time visiting. The restaurant was full of businessmen. I was able to sit down in about 3 minutes. When I tried to order the daily special, it was already sold out. When I tried to order the fish stew, it was sold out as well. In the end, I ordered the seafood bowl. I added wasabi to the sesame sauce that came with the seafood bowl and poured it over the seafood. The fish was fresh and the sauce didn't overpower the fish flavor, so it was delicious. However, the rice was hot, so the freshness of the fish was affected. I would have preferred slightly cooled rice. Next time, I would like to try the daily special or the fish stew. Thank you for the meal.

I was in Tenjin on my day off. It was a bit late, but I decided to have lunch. I was at a familiar drugstore, but there were several restaurants on the same floor, so I looked around. Since it was the middle day of a 3-day weekend, many shops were not open. Among them, I was most interested in this restaurant. It's an izakaya that serves lunch. They seem to have a wide variety of set meal menus. I decided to give it a try. I arrived at the restaurant around 13:50. There were a few customers at the table and counter seats in the restaurant. I was seated at an empty counter seat and checked the menu. I decided on my order from the menu placed at the entrance. I ordered the ginger pork set meal. Although this izakaya is known for its seafood, I chose the ginger pork because it's my favorite. It arrived in about 5 minutes. It's super fast. I took a bite of the ginger pork. The pork is thick and juicy. The ginger flavor is strong. The miso soup had seaweed and fried tofu in it. It was delicious. The cabbage had dressing on it. There was also pickled radish, pickles, and tofu. I quickly finished the rice. I leisurely finished my meal. Maybe the seafood bowl or sesame amberjack set meal would have been better choices. After all, it was a seafood izakaya. This time it cost 800 yen. I think it's reasonable. I left the restaurant right after finishing my meal to head back home.

After having a few drinks at Pub Kirin located in the basement of Tenjin Building, we headed straight to Asajiro right in front of us! I've never had such a convenient bar hopping experience before (゚A゚;) It was only six steps away from the first place! Zero time wasted! While we were paying at the first place, my friends had already entered the second place (lol). Pub Kirin served Western-style dishes, so Asajiro offers Japanese cuisine, providing a nice change of atmosphere. The vibe of the restaurant is like a casual izakaya. Of course, we started with draft beer again! We refreshed our palates with some fresh cucumber. We also ordered some monkfish liver and sesame mackerel to accompany our drinks. We added some grilled chicken skewers as well! The staff were polite and quick in their service, making it easy to place orders. We had a decent amount to drink and then called it a night! Later, we found out that the company running Pub Kirin and Asajiro is the same. Thank you for the meal! My current favorite hangout spot in Tenjin Building seems to have more to offer!
