Fukuoka is always crowded with Japanese tourists and Koreans, whether it's Hakata, Tenjin, or Dazaifu. Familiar restaurants have long lines, so it's best to make a reservation on weekends. Kuuten was also quite busy with many people. I was lucky to be able to eat right away despite the long wait.
- Black Katsutei Lunch (1530 yen): Comes with rice, miso soup, pickles, and cabbage. You can have unlimited refills of cabbage and pickles. There is also a set meal option, but the lunch is slightly cheaper with a bit less meat. It includes both fillet and loin totaling 130g. The breading is crispy but not greasy. The katsu, whether fillet or loin, is juicy and relatively light in flavor. You can eat it with rock salt, sauce, or grated ponzu. The sauce has a fruity sweetness and is slightly thick but light in taste, complementing the sesame well. The dressing on the cabbage is full of onions, soy-based with a good amount of acidity, and very delicious.
- Black Pork Loin Katsu Lunch (1430 yen): The lunch comes with 140g of meat. If you prefer the loin, the Special Loin Katsu Lunch has thicker meat. The rice is freshly cooked in a pot for each person, using Isa rice from Kagoshima. It's usually cooked for about 15 minutes, but due to the crowd, it was served quickly. It was glossy, fragrant, fluffy, and sweet, very delicious. The miso soup was full of ingredients, deep and voluminous, with a gentle and tasty miso flavor. The issue of being too soft, as mentioned in some reviews, seemed to have been resolved. It was full, but the seating is limited and not a fast-paced ramen shop, so once you're in, you can eat slowly. The service was provided by young ladies who were calm, gave detailed explanations, and found time to refill tea multiple times. The kitchen staff also paid attention to the surroundings, greeted customers properly, and the entire dining experience from start to finish was comfortable without waiting at the register. It's the only place in Kagoshima, Tokyo, and Fukuoka, so I'm glad I went.
