The temperature outside was around 30 degrees. The tempura here is generous, so both my wife and I ordered the cold bukkake udon with vegetable tempura. The udon had changed from before, with a chewier texture but a slightly slimy surface that wasn't to my liking. The bukkake sauce was a little too sweet. The assorted vegetable tempura was crispy but lacked juiciness compared to before. The thin batter was nice, but it felt more like a tempura-flavored fritter. I personally prefer warm udon. The assortment included shiitake mushrooms, bell peppers, bamboo shoots, eggplant, sweet potato, onions, and cherry tomatoes, all of which were delicious. I would go back again.

On August 18, 2023 (Friday), for lunch, I had the Maiko Tempura Udon. I arrived at the restaurant right when it opened at 11:00 and was third in line outside, but managed to get a seat without waiting long. It's truly a super popular restaurant!

The chewy whole wheat udon soup was sweet and had a unique taste. The tempura was very filling, I couldn't even eat dinner afterwards. It was very busy because of Obon, had to wait for 18 people ahead of me. Luckily, I was called in just 1 hour. They have a system where you wait in the parking lot and they call you on the phone. Next time, I'll go for a simple udon instead.

I arrived at around 11:30 and the parking lot was already full! They call you when a table is available. I waited for about 40 minutes until I finally got a call. The menu and ordering are done through QR codes. Surprisingly, I got seated quickly. The noodles were like whole wheat, thin and smooth, and the portion was generous. The large pieces of tempura bamboo shoots and half-boiled egg were amazing! I enjoyed adding the refreshing lemon water that came with it for a change of taste.

It's been a while since I drove to Niseko. I went to a udon restaurant that I had been curious about for a long time. It seems to be quite popular, so you have to go before it opens and get a ticket to wait in line. It's a must to check the entrance of the restaurant if it's your first time. The inside of the restaurant has a retro atmosphere with music playing from the movie "Tora-san" (a famous Japanese movie character). The staff were young foreigners. I ordered the classic Chiku-tama tempura udon, and my husband ordered warm soba with natto tempura. You're supposed to scan the barcode on the table to order, but our table didn't have one so we ordered verbally. The udon arrived in about 15 minutes. The udon had whole grain flour in it, making it smooth and delicious, but the broth was sweet and didn't seem to go well with the udon. The tempura was a bit overcooked and hard. My husband's udon had a strong bonito broth and intense yuzu flavor. The taste was not very balanced and didn't leave much of an impression. Overall, I didn't feel like it was worth waiting in line for. Thank you for the meal.

During a break from sightseeing in Niseko, I stopped by Kyogoku for about 15 minutes. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was calm and the service was smooth. I ordered the beef onsen tamago udon and half-cooked egg tempura, and it was really delicious! I would love to try a different menu next time.

Visited after 4 years. Arrived at 12:50 PM and the parking lot was almost full. Many people were waiting in their cars. Surprised to see that the ordering process is now done on a tablet! Waited in the car for 50 minutes before finally entering. Inside, we were surprised again to see that orders are placed through a QR code! It's been 4 years and things have changed a lot (laughs). I ordered beef udon, my wife got chicken tempura udon, and my mother ordered shiitake mushroom tempura udon. They have a lot of udon dishes here. The taste is gentle and even with the wait, it's worth it.

I waited for about an hour while admiring Mt. Yotei before entering the restaurant. The exterior and interior had a charming atmosphere, being a renovated old folk house. I was seated on the second floor, where I could enjoy a beautiful view of Mt. Yotei through the window. I placed my order using a QR code on my smartphone. Water was self-service. The prices were geared towards tourists, but that was to be expected. I ordered cold udon with dancing mushrooms and a mixed vegetable tempura. The tempura arrived first, followed by the udon about 15 minutes later... the timing was a bit off. The udon was not cold enough and was disappointing. With a little more effort, it could have been even more delicious from a customer's perspective. The staff seemed busy, so I hope to return in about five years during a quieter time. I discussed this with my friend before heading home.

At the foothills of Mount Yotei, while driving along Route 276, I came across a building in the middle of farmland with many motorcycles parked outside. It turned out to be an udon restaurant. Curious about its popularity, I decided to stop by since I was hungry. Upon entering the parking lot, I saw a few people waiting outside. After using the touch panel to register, I received a phone call when it was my turn, so waiting in the car was also an option. The weather was nice today, making it pleasant to wait outside. After about 15 minutes, I received the phone call and entered the restaurant. The interior had a retro feel to it. I was seated at a vintage table and ordered the "Bukkake Udon with Yotei Blessings," a cold udon dish. I also ordered a side of fresh garlic tempura, which is currently in season in Hokkaido. The udon arrived in about 10 minutes. It was a generous portion with a variety of tempura including shrimp, fish cake, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, and egg. The tempura had a crispy coating, and the udon noodles were thin but chewy. The broth was on the sweeter side. It was a delicious meal. The fresh garlic tempura was enjoyed with salt on the side, releasing a fragrant garlic aroma. It was tasty. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

I arrived 20 minutes before the opening time of the restaurant. As soon as I entered, there was a touch panel for reception where I input my information to receive a waiting number. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I was able to order by scanning a QR code with my smartphone. I ordered a mixed vegetable tempura and bukkake udon. The udon portion was larger than other places, and it tasted delicious with a sweet broth. The vegetable tempura was also tasty with a generous portion and freshly fried. When I finished eating and left the restaurant, I noticed that the parking lot was full. It's important to have enough time when dining here.

On Sunday afternoon, I waited for 50 minutes using a convenient online call system, so I was able to wait comfortably in my car. I was seated on the second floor, and although it was a bit small, the cozy atmosphere was lovely. I ordered the plum and grated yam udon. The noodles were chewier than any udon I've had before, and the broth was delicious. It was really tasty. It was worth the wait. The only disappointing thing was that the tempura I ordered as a side dish was forgotten. But the taste is just so delicious.

This is my third visit. Every year around this time, I come to see Mt. Yotei covered in snow on my bike, and I always crave warm udon to warm up my cold body. I ordered the Yotei Blessing Udon (around 1,600 yen). It seems like they've raised the price. But considering how tough it must have been for restaurants during the pandemic, I don't mind. The udon is thin and chewy, and very delicious. It comes with a variety of tempura toppings like chikuwa, shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, egg, and shiitake mushrooms. I always intend to try something different, but the generous portion always wins me over. The broth is a light-colored dashi with a strong bonito flavor. I've noticed many reviews mentioning a sweet and rich broth, but personally, I find the broth to be refreshing with a slightly sharp saltiness, maybe because I've been cutting back on salt lately. Also, when I arrive on my bike at this restaurant, they always greet me with "Bike man, right?" in an embarrassing way, and they give me a complimentary tempura. Today, it was a shiitake mushroom tempura simmered in a sweet sauce. It was thick and had a meat-like texture, very delicious!

Last time was in June 2022. This time, they had a reservation system on EPARK. I arrived at 11:35. They called me at 12:10. I was given a QR code to order from my own phone at my table. It was a bit confusing to figure out the menu if it was your first time there. It would be helpful to have laminated menus at each table. I ordered the "Blessing of Yotsumata" with less noodles. Surprisingly, the price had increased from 1300 yen to 1600 yen. The udon arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering, which was faster than before. The noodles were thin but had a strong texture. The broth was sweet with a strong bonito flavor. The tempura toppings included chikuwa, egg, shiitake mushrooms, enoki mushrooms, and shrimp. The shiitake mushrooms were particularly flavorful. Even with less noodles, there was still a good amount of food. The "Blessing of Yotsumata" is delicious, but for 1600 yen, I might try a different menu next time. The clearer and shorter waiting times have made it more convenient to visit.

I visited this restaurant while traveling. Since there were limited options in the area, I found this place online. I ordered the Yam Wasabi Meat Toro Tamabukake and a rice bowl (I forgot the name of the menu). Surprisingly, they also gave us a complimentary chijimi. Both the udon and rice bowl were delicious. The udon had a great aroma of yam wasabi, which really stimulated my appetite. Even though I ordered a smaller portion, it was still very filling. I didn't feel hungry until the evening. I was extremely satisfied with both the taste and portion size.

I arrived before noon on a regular day and the restaurant was already full with a waiting list of two groups. I took a pager and waited in my car, but it was only about a 10-minute wait. While waiting, I looked at the menu and decided on the "Blessings of Lamb Udon" for 1350 yen. It came with tempura including chikuwa, shrimp, mushrooms, and egg, and was very generous in portion. Some people mentioned that the udon was soft, but I found it to be slightly thin but chewy and delicious.

Popular Udon restaurant in Hokkaido, Nonokasa. Last time I visited Hokkaido, I had to give up because it was a regular holiday, but finally I was able to come. I ordered the cold, large Kitsune Bukkake, and it had an incredible firmness! The elasticity that bounces back no matter how much you chew on it! It's addictive, haha. It has an impact similar to Bakaido in Kagawa, but it has a different strength and resilience. I highly recommend this restaurant! I definitely want to come back next time I visit Hokkaido. Thank you for the meal.

Visiting Niseko Drive from Sapporo on a holiday Monday, I called in advance and had a pleasant conversation with a cheerful man who said, "We're open!" We arrived at 1:30 pm and had to wait in the car with 8 groups ahead of us until we received a call on our mobile phone. The service was very good, and the old folk house had a nice atmosphere, but the messy shoe storage area and the water server next to the toilet might bother those who are germaphobic (I was fine with it). We ordered the "Thick Omelette" and the "Cold Matsutake Mushroom Tempura Udon". The tempura omelette came first, with a sweet sauce and bonito flakes on top. The crispy tempura with a cold omelette was a unique dish. Then the udon arrived, with four matsutake mushroom tempura pieces and spinach for color, and a light broth. The broth was sweet with a subtle dashi flavor. I personally didn't like it. The matsutake tempura was good with a sprinkle of salt. The udon had a strong chewy texture, requiring some effort to bite. It was too chewy for my liking. I tried changing the flavor with the citrus liquid provided, but it didn't help. Some people might enjoy this dish, but it wasn't to my taste. The friendly service made up for it though! Thank you for the meal.

We arrived around noon on Sunday and had to wait for 55 minutes. We wrote our names and phone numbers on the reception list, and were told to bring the menu. While waiting in the car, we received a phone call. When called, we were asked for our order before being seated. I ordered cold mushroom tempura udon, while my husband ordered cold chicken tempura udon, and also the recommended asparagus tempura (green). Within 10 minutes of being seated, our udon arrived. The tempura was crispy and delicious. The udon noodles were chewy and tasty. Even though it was a cold noodle dish, the broth was not too strong, and it had cold dashi with bonito flakes. It was a delicious meal.

I took a day trip to Kyogoku-cho in GW and drove there. For lunch, I went to the famous udon restaurant called Nonokasa. I arrived before the opening, but there were already many customers waiting with their names written down. I had to wait a bit before being seated and entering the restaurant. The interior had a retro Showa era atmosphere which was quite calming. I ordered the Chikutama Tempura Udon. I was surprised by how chewy the udon was. The large chikuwa tempura was crispy and delicious. The broth was light, which I liked. I also ordered the shrimp tempura and vegetable tempura separately. I am already full. I also bought some udon as a souvenir. I would like to try the hot udon next time.

As soon as I entered the restaurant, I decided on the recommended menu item, the Maitake mushroom tempura udon, without even looking at the menu. The Maitake mushroom tempura was served in a large portion, more than what you can find at a supermarket. It was very filling! I chose the warm udon noodles, but you can also have it cold. The udon noodles were not the Shikoku style, but rather a more common type. The broth was mild with a hint of bonito flakes. Despite having high cholesterol, I thought to myself, "Who cares?" and enjoyed my meal. The tempura was really dynamic and even elderly people might not need dinner after eating it. Eating tempura udon while looking at the view of Mount Goyo was amazing. I will definitely come back again. ❤️
