Antenor. A cake shop that you can see in various places, usually located in department store basements. My mother used to buy cakes from there often, so I have been familiar with it since I was young. This time, I was looking for a cake for a birthday, so I wandered around the basement of Ginza Mitsukoshi in search of a chocolate cake. After circling around three cake shops, I decided on a chocolate cake called "Ginza Chocola"! I wonder if it's only sold in Ginza because of the name? The taste is not too dark chocolate-like, more towards milk chocolate. But it's not overly sweet. It's quite large, so there's a satisfying volume to it.

When celebrating an event and it's difficult for a restaurant to provide a dessert plate, bringing a cake from Antenor can be very convenient. I like that when you purchase a cake from the store, they will handwrite a message on a plate in the kitchen, which is a nice touch as you can send a personalized message. The store is located in Ginza Mitsukoshi, near the Metro entrance on the first basement floor. The store is unique with different colors compared to other Antenor stores, so I had a bit of trouble deciding. The Ginza store, being a boutique, has a proper workshop in the back where they can write the message on the plate immediately after purchase. I visited on a busy Friday night and was able to make a purchase in about 5 minutes, which was great. (Other Mitsukoshi stores may require reservations in advance for the plate, etc.) This time, I bought a small 12cm strawberry decoration cake for 3,024 yen with a plate and candle added. Unlike other stores, they don't offer items like roll cakes, but focus on slightly more high-end options like strawberry or chocolate cakes, butter sand cakes, lemon pies, etc.

One day, just before 8:00 PM, I was wandering around Ginza trying to find a birthday cake to give on the same day. The cake shop I usually go to was sold out of whole cakes at this time. I thought of Mitsukoshi's food floor. It was almost closing time. I entered from the entrance in front of the Ginza Line ticket gate and went down the escalator to the basement. There, I found a cake shop called "Antenor Ginza Boutique". They had several whole cakes in stock, which was a relief. I chose the "Strawberry Decoration 15cm (3,780 yen)" cake. It is made with smooth cream blended with Hokkaido cream and strawberries sandwiched between soft sponge. The total came to 3,780 yen (tax included). I really wanted to have the recipient's name on the cake, so I asked if they could do it even though it was late. They kindly agreed. After paying, the cake was ready in just 2 minutes. Despite being close to closing time, their helpful service was greatly appreciated. I received a report later that the cake was delicious and the recipient was very happy. It was a great success! This cake shop on the 2nd floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi is very convenient in times of need.

Napoleon pie with sponge and custard layers instead of all custard. The sponge is not dry, but I would prefer more custard. Mont Blanc with chestnut cream has meringue at the bottom. It has various fillings so it doesn't get boring. The cream-based desserts are delicious, so you might want to try their shortcake as well. The butter sandwich also looks delicious.

This store was established in 1966 and is a major confectionery manufacturer with an annual revenue of 15.97 billion yen (fiscal year ending March 2020). It is the oldest brand launched by Edelweiss Co., Ltd., which was founded in 1978. Other brands such as "Vitamale," "Noa du Bour," and "HIBIKA" have already been visited and reviewed. This time, I purchased the collaboration product with the Tokyo National Museum as follows: Biscuit au Chocolat (20 pieces) 1,080 yen. This snack consists of Belgian couverture chocolate sandwiched between coconut sablé cookies. The chocolate melts in your mouth beautifully, truly delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a store in the basement of Ginza Mitsukoshi on a weekend afternoon. It was located right next to the escalator between the basement 1st floor and the 2nd floor, with a bakery called Johan in front of it. I bought a strawberry shortcake butter sandwich, a salted caramel butter sandwich, and a rum raisin butter sandwich. There were a total of 5 varieties available, but I forgot the other 3 since I didn't eat them myself. The butter sandwiches seemed to be exclusive to the Ginza Mitsukoshi store. The strawberry shortcake had a slightly generous amount of sponge cake and bright red strawberries. I remember recently eating Échiré butter, and these butter sandwiches were just as good, making me feel like I don't necessarily need to buy the expensive Échiré butter. It was delicious. The slight sweetness of the pumpkin is nice! Kinako-scented Japanese chestnut Mont Blanc ★ It is quite expensive, but it has an elegant taste that matches the price. It has a strong kinako aroma, and the Japanese chestnut is rich! The bottom is crispy meringue. You can clearly taste the deliciousness of the Japanese chestnuts from Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture. Strawberry shortcake for 600 yen. Fig tart for 800 yen. The sponge in the strawberry shortcake feels dry. The sponge and jam sandwiched between them give the whole cake a cheap feel. The strawberries are tart and firm. The fig in the fig tart looks fresh, colorful, and delicious, but it's actually not tasty at all! The cream is just average.
