There was a long line at a popular shop in the underground food court of Hankyu Department Store in Umeda. They serve a specialty dish called "Ikayaki," which is grilled squid. I tried the "Delapan" (with egg) and regular Ikayaki. It goes really well with beer. If it wasn't so crowded, I would definitely want to eat it again. It was a 3-day weekend when I visited, so I think that's why it was even busier.

I am at Hankyu Department Store Umeda Main Store, which is bustling with excitement due to the Hanshin Tigers' victory sale. First, I headed to the basement food court to try the famous Hankyu specialty, grilled squid. There was a long line for the grilled squid! After waiting for about 30 minutes, it was finally my turn. I ordered the "Delavan Yaki" (with egg, probably a deluxe version) and the "Negi Yaki". The prices were around 200 yen each, which is a great deal. It was delicious and brought back nostalgic memories! I will definitely come back again! Where is the Omochi stall?

From Showa 32, this shop has grown together with Hankyu Department Store. A popular Osaka specialty that even my grandparents used to enjoy. It's amazing that it's still popular now ☺️ What I ate: Hankyu's famous squid yakisoba for ¥187. It was chewy and delicious! I love chewy foods, so this was perfect for me. The squid was finely chopped and just the right amount. Hankyu's famous Delavan for ¥242. A dish mainly made of eggs. The chewy texture was not as prominent as the squid yakisoba. It felt like a luxurious version of egg omelette! It was delicious mixed with the sauce ☺️ There were many other shops in Snack Park, and all of them were crowded. I was interested in trying out various other dishes, so I want to come back again ☺️

The Hanshin Tigers won the championship for the first time in 18 years, so I happened to have some business in Osaka and went to try the famous grilled squid (187 yen). I had visited Hanshin Department Store when they won the championship in 1985, so it was my first time in 38 years. Now, there are more variations, and I tried something called "Delavan" (242 yen). I don't remember the taste from before, but the local food was delicious, and I enjoyed it with a beer (400 yen).

Whenever you go, you can buy the "Ikayaki" with a line at the first floor of Hankyu Department Store! It may be crowded, but you can buy it faster than at the Oyatsu Park. The secret dashi and American flour combined dough, and the chewy squid legs are irresistibly delicious! Ikayaki with Delavan eggs! I love the fluffy texture like tamagoyaki and the homemade sauce!

One of Osaka's specialties, grilled squid! I had never tried it before, so I decided to line up for it on my way back from visiting Osaka. It was a weekday, but there was quite a long line. I had the plain grilled squid on the spot, and bought three other varieties to take home. I particularly liked the one with eggs.

When standing in this line, I feel like I've arrived in Osaka! I used to live in Osaka until 20 years ago, and although prices have gone up slightly, I'm grateful that they still offer this at the same price. I visited in the evening on a weekday. There was a line of about 20 people, so it took about 10-20 minutes to make a purchase. I ordered squid okonomiyaki and negi-ika-yaki. I personally preferred the simple squid okonomiyaki as it went well with the sauce. There was also seating available for eating in, which was convenient.

Delaban ¥242 is located in a corner of the B1 Snack Park a little away from Hankyu Department Store. I ordered the deluxe grilled squid called "Delaban," which is mixed with egg. It was served piping hot as it was grilled quickly. The aroma of the grilled egg and sauce was delicious. Thank you for the meal. It was tasty. 5.8

The grilled squid with green onions not only has green onions but also has a soy sauce flavor, which I didn't know. Oh well, since I already bought it, I'll just have to eat it. It tastes different from what I expected. The squid flavor doesn't come through much, and it has a taste and smell that I don't really like. Next time, I'll stick to regular grilled squid without being too greedy. Since it's always so crowded, I don't think it can be bad. I'll challenge it again next time. Please let me say that I had a meeting in the afternoon, so I went to Umeda because I had some time before that. Last time, I got lost because I didn't know the location, but this time I got there smoothly after getting off the train. Even though it hasn't been open for long, there is already a line forming. However, the grilled squid is being cooked one after another, so you can see it happening through the iron plate. It didn't take long for my order to be ready, so I ordered "Delavan 10 pieces, 2 to eat here. The rest divided into 2 pieces and 6 pieces." Two pieces were placed on a plate, while the other 2 and 6 pieces were wrapped separately and handed over for payment. I enjoyed the hot 2 pieces on the plate at the counter behind the store. I still think hot and fresh is the best. I definitely want to come back when I visit Osaka again.

It had been about 10 years since I last purchased this. I hadn't eaten it for a long time, but for some reason, I suddenly had a craving and took the train from Yotsubashi to Nishi-Umeda. I always had the image of long lines, but perhaps I went at a good time because there were only a few people waiting and I was able to purchase it without a 5-minute wait. Was "Delavan" always around? I have vague memories because my parents would usually buy it or we would receive it from someone, but the squid yakisoba was just as delicious as it was in the past, with its chewy dough. In reality, it was light and tasty, and it could even substitute for bread in the morning.

It was difficult to find as it is located underground in Hankyu, but the food court has a standing-eating environment and is inexpensive, making it easy to eat quickly with peace of mind. The taste is just like the old days, with a flavorful dough complemented by the sauce's richness and spiciness, making it disappear in no time. Perfect for a snack.
