I have always loved the cakes here. Since it's a fruit shop, the cakes are always fresh and you can have as many as you want after a meal. I especially like the crust of this strawberry tart. It's filled with amaou strawberries and really boosts my mood. The Basque cheesecake is also amazing. It's located next to Gozakura, not in the area with all the cake shops in Takashimaya's basement (although it may move after renovations). They also have great fruit gifts, so I recommend them. I look forward to enjoying the large strawberries in winter.

I visited this place right before closing time at 8pm to get a takeout of the fruit tart that I had been craving. There weren't many options left due to the late hour, but they had two types of strawberry tarts. I asked about the difference between them and found out that one had a good balance of acidity and sweetness that paired well with the cream, while the other had a strong strawberry flavor with a jelly coating. I ended up buying both and they were both delicious in their own way. The tart crust was firm and the custard was not too watery. The strawberries were the highlight of both tarts and were really tasty. I'll definitely be visiting this fruit shop again!

This time, I bought a set of fully ripe apple juice from Aomori as a souvenir for the restaurant where I was going to have a meal. The set is from the "Iwayanagi-cho Apple Works Research Institute". While looking for souvenirs inside Takashimaya, I was drawn to the apple juice from the apple kingdom Aomori at "Hosokawa" and decided to purchase it. When I asked the staff, I found out that it is a popular product made from freshly squeezed Aomori apples, with 100% fruit content and no additives. The bottle of juice looked stylish, so I bought it. The hostess was very pleased when I presented it as a souvenir.

Today, I visited Takashimaya in Shijo Kawaramachi. I came across "Fruits & Cafe Hosokawa" on the basement floor, so I decided to stop by. Fruits & Cafe Hosokawa is a long-established luxury fruit specialty store located in Shimogamo, Kyoto, with a branch in Takashimaya. The store in Takashimaya also exuded a sense of luxury. They have a cafe that offers popular items like parfaits and fruit sandwiches. They also sell sweets made with fruits at the storefront. I purchased a cake before leaving. Lemon Cake: Among the many products made with high-quality fruits, this cake was priced very affordably at 300 yen (+tax). The cake is shaped like a lemon, with a lemon-flavored sugar paste coating on the surface. Inside, there is a jelly-like filling that resembles lemon pulp, adding a fun texture. The cake combines the sweetness of honey with the refreshing taste of lemon juice.

When I went to Takashimaya, there was a seat available so I looked at the menu and saw the Mini Mexican Mango Parfait (1320 yen). I was surprised by the Mexican mango flavor, it was sweet and delicious. Lately, full-size parfaits have been too big to finish, so the size of this one was just right. This time, I had a bit of space to enjoy eating in.

I love fruit sandwiches, so I went to Fruits & Cafe Hosokawa at Kyoto Takashimaya to have their fruit sandwich. I had researched beforehand and found that there are many places in Kyoto where you can eat fruit sandwiches, but I chose this place as my top candidate along with ZEN CAFE, produced by Kissa Ryo. This place was closer to where I was at the time, and if I had gone to ZEN CAFE, I might have ended up eating not only fruit sandwiches but also desserts (which I wanted to avoid as it would affect my dinner time). There are a few tables at the back of the food floor in the basement. The showcase at the storefront also had cakes, making it a perfect spot for a break while shopping. Looking at the menu, I was also tempted by the Dekopon sandwich and strawberry gratin. The tart looked delicious too. But this time, I had already decided in advance that I wanted to eat the Amaou strawberry sandwich with black tea set. The sandwich had 6 slices, each slice was large and couldn't be eaten in one bite. The whipped cream was just enough to hold everything together, and the sweet and sour Amaou strawberries spread throughout my mouth. Being a fruit shop, the quality of the fruit was excellent! The bread was also delicious and didn't get dry until the last bite. I am satisfied that I was able to eat a delicious fruit sandwich in Kyoto.

The appearance is beautiful and it boosts my mood. The tea cup is shaped like a strawberry... so cute! I took a sip right away... the strawberry is delicious and I'm in ecstasy. The bread is moist and the cream is not too sweet, it doesn't overpower the freshness of the strawberry. It's so delicious!! I'm already thinking of going to try the fruit parfait next time (lol)

I really liked it. I stopped by Kyoto on my way back to Tokyo from my hometown. I had about 6 hours to spare (^_^;). After walking around 3 kilometers, I visited this place as my first stop. It wasn't crowded, probably because it was winter, and even the Takashimaya department store where this restaurant is located was quiet. I ordered a fruit sandwich for 1,100 yen and a set of iced coffee for 400 yen. The fruit sandwich looked delicious with whipped cream, strawberries, melon, peaches, bananas, and pineapples sandwiched between tasty bread. Every bite was full of happiness. It was really delicious. The cafe atmosphere, service, and coffee were decent, but if you want to enjoy fruit-based treats in Kyoto, I would recommend this place.

The store is located in Shimogamo, but I couldn't go there easily, so I thought there was one at Takashimaya! Finally, I went in. It's a small shop, so I was lucky that it was empty. I was torn, but since I like strawberries, I chose a parfait with strawberries as the main ingredient. In reality, there was more cream than strawberries? Well, it's still good. I didn't see the fruit assortment parfait on the menu I received, but it was displayed outside, so I should have chosen that. I didn't know because I'm a beginner. There were options with only seasonal grapes or persimmons, but I chose a variety-filled and reasonably priced sandwich. It was quite filling and satisfying. Just looking at the colorful vegetables and fruits makes me happy. The seating is limited so there may be a line, but if there's a seat available next time, I'd like to try their parfait or something.

The moist chocolate mousse had a refined sweetness and was delicious. A café that you can use to take a break in Takashimaya. If I have the opportunity, I would like to try the parfait as well.
