I had a great sushi training experience! I ordered the Sushi Zen Narabi for 1500 yen. I really like that they season the dishes like the simmered dish and inari sushi. The winner of the day was definitely the inari sushi! For 1500 yen, I think the quality was just right. The sushi training continues!

(2022.06.17) I had been intrigued by the inviting atmosphere of "Sushi and Kappo Hanaemaki," and when I saw someone I follow on Instagram post about it, I was inspired to visit. Coincidentally, I was in the area for errands, so I decided to stop by just before their lunch service ended. Located within a 5-minute walk from Yakuin Station and Watanabe-dori Station, this restaurant on the ground floor of an apartment building boasts a beautiful garden, cobblestone path, and a serene white noren curtain, creating an elegant and calming ambiance. Stepping inside past the noren, I found a stylish white wooden counter with an arched design and table seating separated by bamboo blinds, with private rooms in the back. Since I was dining alone and it was close to closing time, I opted for the affordable "Sushi Set" (medium). The set came with a side dish and chawanmushi, so I was excited to see what side dish I would get, only to be disappointed with a salad. However, the miso soup with seaweed and the smooth chawanmushi were delicious. The sushi, paired with warm vinegared rice, was a pleasant surprise, especially the tuna with mustard on top. The shrimp had a firm texture and sweetness, the scallop melted in my mouth, and the mackerel pressed sushi was delightful. The creamy and sweet sea urchin was a standout. Finally, the inari sushi served at the end with a flavorful sweet broth was a fantastic finish to a satisfying lunch experience.

I had a regular sushi set. This time, I didn't make a reservation, but all the customers who came later had made reservations. You can enjoy authentic Edomae sushi with salad, chawanmushi, and soup for 1200 yen. Unfortunately, I had a large mouth ulcer, so the pain was stronger than the taste, and I couldn't evaluate the taste. Next time, I want to get my condition in order. PayPay was accepted.

Today, I came here with my former subordinate and another staff member to celebrate passing an internal exam. We originally wanted to have a big party, but it wouldn't be appropriate, so we settled for lunch instead. The sushi restaurant we used to frequent has closed down, so I found this place on Tabelog. I made a reservation for seats and ordered the sushi set meal for 1200 yen. Each piece of sushi was carefully crafted and delicious. However, since it was just lunch, I couldn't be too extravagant. When we arrived at the restaurant, the sushi was already placed on the table. It looked nice, but I couldn't help but think, "Huh?" My subordinates didn't say anything, but I found it a bit strange. The sushi rice was a bit hard, and I wondered if it had been sitting out for a while. Additionally, the same sushi was placed on two tables with a note saying, "Please help yourself." The taste was good, but the service was a bit lacking. If I had been dining alone, it wouldn't have been a big deal, but since I brought my subordinates and guided them there, I was a little unsure of what to do. Thank you for the meal.

To all the readers of this blog, Happy New Year! I hope this year will be a wonderful one for everyone. Today's lunch was at a sushi restaurant in Fukuoka City, Chuo Ward, called "Sushi-Kappo Hanaemaki." I ordered the Sushi Zen lunch set for ¥1,200. It included a salad, 10 pieces of sushi, soup, and chawanmushi (savory egg custard). The sushi was delicious, with various toppings like squid, tuna, and white fish. The soup was tasty and comforting, and the chawanmushi had a nice texture. The meal ended with a juicy inari sushi. Overall, it was a satisfying and great value lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A leisurely sushi lunch. Hanemaki on Watanabe Street, April 26, 2019. NEW! Theme: Fukuoka City Chuo Ward/Southern Watanabe Street from Bivi... A slightly high-end sushi restaurant called "Hanemaki". It's on the 1st floor of a building with an impressive approach. The lunch menu ranges from 4000 yen to 800 yen. The clientele seems to be on the higher end. Someone who seems to be on a business lunch ordered the 4000 yen omakase... I had the 1080 yen regular nigiri set. It came with salad, chawanmushi, and pickled ginger. The small dish is for the pickled ginger. I couldn't find soy sauce. It seems like they've added some extra work to it, and you eat it as is. Starting with squid and tuna, then onto egg, octopus, and eel... and finishing with inari sushi. The inari sushi is juicy, and seems to be the restaurant's specialty. The miso soup with lots of daikon and fried tofu is also delicious. Even though I was the last to arrive, I was the first to leave... Everyone seems to be taking their time here... ●Restaurant Information: Hanemaki 092-734-0574 Fukuoka City Chuo Ward, Watanabe Street 4-2-27 Opening hours: 11:30-22:00 Closed on Sundays.

Recently, I have been coming to this place at night, but it's been a while since I last came for lunch. After being turned away from a few places, we finally found a spot here where about 80% of the seats were filled. Normally, it's not as busy, so it was a bit surprising. They offer sushi lunch options, but on this day, we chose the Washoku set for 800 yen, with an additional 100 yen for chawanmushi. Three of us sat at the counter and all ordered the Washoku set. After us, another group of three came in, but they were told that they had run out of rice for the day. The Washoku set included sardine, bonito, and white fish sashimi. The three side dishes consisted of fish roe, simmered hijiki and beans, and simmered shinko, all perfect with rice. The main dish was salmon in Saikyo-style miso, which had a delicious miso flavor that whet our appetites. The white rice was also tasty, and all of this for 800 yen is quite a deal!

On this day, I finally had a drinking party with a client I had promised to drink with since I transferred last year. Due to certain circumstances, it had been postponed for a while, but we finally made it happen in the new fiscal year. It was a drinking party with 7 people, and we were seated in a room at the back that could be partitioned to accommodate up to 20 people. We didn't have a drink-all-you-can option, so we ordered our favorite drinks like sake and wine. The sake included Funasaka, Dewazakura, and Hanamasu. The dishes were a sashimi platter, white fish with sauce, grilled hairtail and mat shell, and shiitake mushrooms. They were all delicious and went well with the drinks. The fried squid mince was particularly flavorful. We ended with 3 pieces of sushi. It was a good amount after drinking. I think I'll come back again.

On this day, I attended a New Year's party for a social gathering that I joined in December. I felt quite out of place as I didn't know most of the people there. The event started at 6 pm, but I arrived about 15 minutes early to exchange business cards with everyone. Once I introduced myself, I quickly realized that many of them had business connections, making it easy to blend in. There were quite a few important people in attendance, and there were about 20 of us seated in a spacious private room with sunken kotatsu tables. I didn't worry too much about fitting in and quickly finished my greetings to focus on drinking. Everyone seemed to be in a sake mood, so we ordered various types including "Maboroshi," "Yamazaki," "Yukimange," "Nokomi," and "Tateyama," drinking in rounds of 2 cups each. It was easy to get tipsy with this much sake flowing. The dishes included a sashimi platter, 4 appetizers, vinegar-marinated sea cucumber, and more. The sashimi was aged to enhance its flavor, and the dishes were elegantly seasoned. The simmered hagfish and grilled yellowtail were nostalgic and delicious. We also had bacon-wrapped oysters and crab cream croquettes, finishing with 3 pieces of Edo-style sushi. Despite feeling full, we were served a mochi-filled zoni at the end, which we couldn't resist. While the lunch experience was mediocre, the dinner was much more satisfying and convenient. However, be careful not to drink too much sake!

On this day when I was in the mood for Japanese food... Last time I had the Sushi Zen (Deluxe), but this time I tried the Japanese Meal (with sashimi) for 800 yen and added Chawanmushi for an extra 100 yen. My colleague and I arrived at the restaurant around 12 o'clock and there were no other customers at first, but later three other groups came in. After placing our order, we waited for a while sipping on tea, and then we were served with a small dish of three varieties and sashimi (squid, mackerel, and something else) with white rice. The rice was of good quality and tasty, but all three varieties in the small dish - lotus root, Chinese cabbage, and konjac - seemed like they had just been taken out of the fridge... very cold (~_~;) I wish they had served them at room temperature at least. The main dish was grilled sardines, which had a slight fishy smell. We ended up having seconds of rice, but the Chawanmushi was piping hot with ginkgo nuts, shiitake mushrooms, shrimp, and fish cake - freshly made and very hot (^^; The miso soup had a clean and simple taste. Well, for 900 yen, the meal was decent with this kind of content! Last time, it took over 30 minutes for the sushi to be served when there were four of us, but this time the serving was relatively smooth, so we felt relieved (^^; I think we had a New Year's party here at the beginning of the year as well... (^^;

The sushi set meal is 1,500 yen. The atmosphere is calm and beautiful, not the kind of place where you can eat at this price. There were no customers at 13:00 on Saturday. It is suitable for entertaining guests. Each piece of sushi is carefully crafted. I tried tuna with red pepper for the first time. There are three sunken kotatsu rooms for 10 people each, but if you remove the partitions, it seems that you can have a party for 30 people in one room.

On this day, clients from a business partner came to the company before 10 am for a meeting that lasted about an hour and a half. It was still before noon, but the area was getting crowded, so I suggested grabbing an early meal. Some people, like Myribe, eat whenever they want, but it's nice to have a change sometimes, right? The lunch sushi menu includes prices with tax included: Regular Set for 1,080 yen, Medium Set for 2,160 yen, High-End Set for 3,000 yen, and Chef's Choice Set for 4,000 yen. There are also lunch options starting from 800 yen, which seem convenient. We ordered the High-End Set for four people. No alcohol, please. It was just before 12 pm, and there were no other customers yet. After a while, a salad and a hot chawanmushi were served. We ate the salad and chawanmushi, but there was no sign of the sushi coming out. We could see the chef working hard to prepare it, but it took over 30 minutes for the sushi to finally arrive. It seems like they have been in business for a long time, but their operation is a bit lacking. The sushi consisted of: 1. Medium Fatty Tuna (served with spicy sauce) 2. Sardine (served with moromi sauce) 3. Ark Shell 4. Simmered Conger Eel 5. Sea Urchin 6. Sweet Shrimp 7. Salmon Roe 8. White Fish? (flavored with sansho pepper) 9. Squid, and lastly, a juicy Inari sushi. They were all prepared in an Edo-style without soy sauce on the side, some marinated or seasoned with various toppings like moromi, sansho, or Western-style mustard. Even the sweet shrimp had a hint of mayo flavor. They seem to be experimenting with various flavors. The companions all agreed that non-conveyor belt sushi is different and better. Personally, I still remember the strong impression from "Nomura" in Kagoshima, so I felt like something was missing. Also, the soup was a Wakame and Tofu clear soup, but it would have been nice to have the option of a red miso soup. Nevertheless, I think this sushi restaurant is suitable for casual lunches and even for business entertainment during lunch or dinner.

This is the second sushi lunch we had, haha. We visited Sushi and Kappo Hanaemaki. My friend seemed a bit tired of sushi, so they ordered the Crab Cream Croquette Set for 800 yen including tax, and I ordered the Sushi Set for 980 yen including tax. First, they served salad and chawanmushi. The salad was average, and the chawanmushi had a flavorful broth and was delicious. This restaurant also follows the style of eating without soy sauce. The squid was tasty with a good saltiness. The tuna had probably some spicy mustard on top, making it delicious. The sea bream was really good, especially the sea bream and conger eel were outstandingly delicious. The flounder sushi was nicely seared and tasty. The miso soup was a bit light, but I like it that way, so it was delicious. The conger eel was recommended to be eaten warm by the chef, and it was soft and flavorful. The egg sushi was delicious, and the conger eel was in season and paired well with plum, making it tasty. Finally, the inari sushi was thick and juicy with a sweet taste, delicious. The dessert was orange and a mini coffee, both tasty. My friend's Crab Cream Croquette Set was enjoying the dish in the middle of the small bowl. Overall, we were satisfied with the quality at this price range. Thank you for the meal!

A sushi restaurant quietly nestled in Watanabe Street (Bivi, Toppan Printing, near Kawai Juku). Popular among nearby office workers for its casual sushi lunch options. I used to visit for lunch about once a week, but the master and mistress insisted that I come for dinner. I finally went for dinner service. The sushi was top-notch omakase. The master's unwavering commitment to quality ingredients and his well-honed skills produced one masterpiece after another. The master may not say much, but he meticulously prepares each piece at the pace of the customer. "Serving truly delicious food, perfectly," is surely a principle the master understands well. The side dishes served in between were delicate yet bold, with no shortcuts taken. While not flashy, the sushi is surely what the master believes it should be. Showcasing expensive ingredients is just a distraction, the true essence lies in finishing each piece in a "normal" way - that is the sushi philosophy of Hanaemaki. The emotions evoked by each piece of sushi are not cheap thrills wrapped in extravagance, but rather a unique drama woven by the master's sincere quest for excellence. Note: The "Yuki Nabe" and "Yose Nabe" are apparently Hanaemaki's winter specialties. I plan to try the hot pot soon and will update accordingly.

This is a long-established sushi restaurant near Watanabe Street called "Sushi Kappo". It has been in business for over 20 years and has a traditional atmosphere with counter seats, table seats, and private rooms at the back. They offer several affordable lunch options, including the Sushi Zen Plus (1450 yen) and the Ladies Set (980 yen). Both sets include chawanmushi, sliced fish, kamaboko, and ginkgo nuts, all lightly seasoned. The Sushi Zen Plus comes with a delicious "ara soup". The sushi in both sets includes maguro, squid, tai with kelp, seared ara, octopus with spicy miso, tamago, mackerel with kelp, and anago. The Sushi Zen Plus also includes 10 pieces of nigiri sushi and allows you to choose an additional item, such as tekka maki. The Ladies Set comes with dessert and coffee, with a surprising tomato instead of watermelon. The sushi pieces are generously sized and the quality is good for the price. The restaurant has a calm atmosphere and even offers tatami seating in the back, making it suitable for business meetings as well.

I went to Hanaemaki with my aunt. The exterior and interior of the restaurant were very calming. I ordered the Ladies Set and also had some sushi. The Ladies Set came with sushi, but I wanted to try other types as well. The chawanmushi in the Ladies Set was absolutely delicious, with a very elegant flavor that made me want more. The sushi in the set was also tasty, but the sushi that was specially made for me was even better.
