The bakery "Pan Pelte" is located along Prefectural Route 25, which runs parallel to National Route 10 and the Nippo Main Line in Sone. I knew about it because I often pass by, but for no particular reason, I had never stopped by before. The area around Route 25, which used to be part of National Route 10, was known for hosting industries like factories, transportation companies, and waste disposal businesses that were difficult to operate within the city. This impression may have stuck with me, as there is also a small factory next to the bakery, reminiscent of the old landscape. The bakery is more visible from the city side, but from Karatacho, it can be easily missed due to the blind spot. However, it is easier to enter from the Karatacho side because of the left turn. The bakery has a spacious parking lot between the bakery and the neighboring factory, making it easy to park, but also a bit confusing due to its size.
The interior of the bakery is not very large, and it can get crowded with just 4-5 people. The owner (or employee?) of the bakery, who I will refer to as "Gray-san" due to their somewhat ambiguous gender, provides cheerful customer service, which is quite endearing. During my recent visit, I purchased four items from the bakery. After completing the payment, I asked for permission to take photos, which surprised Gray-san and led to a moment of panic when they realized they had forgotten to add butter to the anpan I purchased. It seems that the bakery adds butter to the anpan after the purchase to prevent it from melting, which is unusual and caught me off guard. Nevertheless, Gray-san's lively demeanor, albeit a bit startling, added an amusing touch to the experience.
The four items I purchased were: 1) Sweet Potato Cream Cheese, 2) Edamame Bacon France, 3) An Butter, and 4) Apple Custard. Each item had its unique flavors and textures, with the Sweet Potato Cream Cheese being a nostalgic and simple delight, the Edamame Bacon France offering a savory and satisfying combination of flavors, the An Butter providing a delightful surprise with its buttery filling, and the Apple Custard resembling a fluffy cake with a hint of cinnamon. Overall, the bakery's offerings were delicious and worth trying, especially for those looking for unique and flavorful bread and pastries.
