I was surprised to see that the store had closed down, but after researching, I found out that the name had changed but the location and taste remained the same. I decided to visit and found that the interior of the store was still well-maintained, with everything from the kitchen to the tables and condiment containers sparkling clean. I had only been there at night before, and on this day, there were many male solo customers, but I noticed that there were also a lot of families with children, so I think it must be popular for families during lunchtime.
- Ramen (650 yen): A simple ramen with chashu and green onions. I watched as they vigorously mixed the soup in a large pot every few seconds, and thought it must be hard work. The soup had a layer of oil on top, but it was light and very delicious. My companion mentioned that it seemed lighter than before, but still found it delicious and satisfying.
- Fried Rice (600 yen): A classic taste, and some people were ordering the all-you-can-eat fried rice set.
- Gyoza (300 yen): A serving of 5 pieces. The filling was moist and had a hint of sweetness from the vegetables, making it delicious. The customer service was very kind and attentive, and the atmosphere at the counter-only restaurant was cozy.
I understand that it must have been challenging to continue the business after the previous owner, but I admire their dedication to continuing to make delicious ramen while respecting the previous owner. I look forward to visiting their second store in Fukutsu as well.

This is a classic set of tonkotsu ramen and fried rice. The tonkotsu soup is delicious in a normal way and goes well with the firm noodles. The fried rice is a bit bland, but tasty. There is no sauce, but they provide white ginger and pickled vegetables for flavor variation, which is nice. It would have been better if they had garlic.

I ordered the char siu ramen with boiled egg and fried rice. The pork bones were simmering right in front of me. The char siu was just the right thickness and there was plenty of it. The soup wasn't as heavy as it looked. The fried rice was enough for me and my partner to share and we were both full! The two staff members were friendly. Thank you for the meal.

This is my first visit. I stopped by on my way back from Costco Kurayama. I entered and sat at the counter, ordered the "Ajitama Ramen". It arrived quickly! It kind of reminded me of Hakata ramen. I forgot to add sesame at first, but then I added plenty of sesame halfway through and enjoyed it.

Before getting on the highway from Fukuoka Interchange, I searched for a ramen shop nearby and found "Daruma". When I arrived, it turned out to be "Matsuo Shouten". I decided to go in anyway. The shop only had a counter, no ticket machine, and you had to order directly from the staff. I ordered the Chashu Ramen for 800 yen and added a half fried rice set for 300 yen. In front of me, the pork bone broth was boiling vigorously. The ramen had a traditional Hakata-style pork bone soup, without any extra sauce, just the rich aroma of pork bones simmered to perfection. It was a bit oily, but the soup was incredibly delicious, full of the umami of pork bones. I asked for the noodles to be firm, and they had the perfect chewiness. The chashu pork belly was tender and added a nice balance to the rich soup. The fried rice was also delicious. It was a perfect meal. I don't have the opportunity to go there often, but I definitely want to go back. People in Fukuoka are lucky. Thank you for the delicious meal.
Kamata, Higashi-ku, Fukuoka City. The name of the restaurant has changed from "Hakata Daruma Ramen Center" to "Hakata Ramen Matsuo Shoten" starting on February 23, 2023. The name has changed, but the taste, staff, and everything else remains the same. Graduating from Hakata Daruma. The restaurant is full, so customers wait by sitting on chairs inside in order. They use the "hirao" method. Many people are asking if the name has changed. I ordered the half fried rice set for 950 yen (ramen 650 yen + half fried rice 300 yen), gyoza for 300 yen, and extra noodles for 150 yen. The tonkotsu soup has a strong sauce with a sweet flavor of lard and a good salty taste. The thin noodles are firm. This place is all about getting extra noodles. The fried rice is slightly oily and moist. It's a unique and addictive bowl of ramen. The coordination among the staff under the guidance of Master Matsuo is also good. Thank you for the meal♪ Payment is cash only.
