I heard that the salmon ikura is delicious in Shiretoko, so I tried the three-color bowl with ikura, salmon, and scallops at the highly rated Michi no Eki. The eating and drinking closing time was 3:00 pm, and the Orora sightseeing boat, which departed at 10:15 am, arrived just after 2:00 pm, so it was crowded with Orora passengers. Nevertheless, the dish was beautifully presented, and the appearance was excellent. The taste was sweet and the slightly warm sashimi was delicious.

The Ezo deer burger and salmon burger are very delicious. The drift ice soda is also sweet and tasty. Enjoying a burger in the atmosphere of Shiretoko Utoro is very satisfying with its generous portion. I think it's a great choice and you won't regret it. It's nice to eat at the restaurant, but it's even better to enjoy it while looking at the Sea of Okhotsk.

In between fishing, I had a deer meat burger at "Cowberry" located inside the Utoro Shiretoko Road Station (650 yen). The patty made of deer meat was sandwiched with lettuce. It was served in a sturdy bun that was warmed up. The road station was quite busy with many people using it. The parking lot was also full of cars at night. I have visited "Cowberry" at the Utoro Shiretoko Road Station a few times in the past. I previously wrote an article about their Mossberry Soft Serve. They have a ticket vending machine that accepts various electronic payments. The menu includes Mossberry Soft Serve starting from 350 yen, as well as milk soft serve for 350 yen. They also offer soda, coffee, and a variety of burger options including deer meat burger for 650 yen, deer meat cheeseburger for 680 yen, and salmon herb fried burger for 680 yen. With the increasing deer population becoming a problem, it's good to see deer meat being utilized in delicious dishes. The deer meat burger was also very tasty. Thank you for the meal.

I had a deer meat burger for lunch at the Michi-no-Eki Shirietoku. The deer meat patty was light and delicious, with no gamey taste. It was a bit disappointing that I could only eat it on a bench as there were no tables available for dine-in, and bringing it to the adjacent dining area was not allowed.

I went to see the shibazakura at Tozamakoto and arrived at Memanbetsu Airport. I immediately enjoyed the shibazakura and then had lunch at TOTTAN inside the Utoro Shiretoko Road Station with a rental car. Since I was staying at a hot spring inn by Lake Abashiri that night without dining out, I decided to share a salmon and salmon roe seafood bowl and a daily seafood bowl. The total was 2620 yen and 2400 yen. The salmon and ikura were delicious, so I didn't think it was expensive. I felt that prices were cheaper in Hokkaido compared to Sapporo last month.

Let's have lunch at a roadside station. I bought food tickets. Should I order seafood here? But I can always have seafood. So, I decided to go for the pork bowl from the Shiretoko Shari brand certified "Mugiou" (\1,100). My companion ordered the Ezo deer meat sauce cutlet bowl (\1,350). When the food was ready, we went to pick it up ourselves. It smelled really good. I had a feeling it would be delicious. But to my surprise, what is this meat? It's tough, dry, and thin. The sauce is delicious, but the meat was disappointing. Is this really brand pork? Oh well, it's been a while since I had a surprising pork bowl. The Ezo deer meat sauce cutlet bowl was okay, though.

Shiretoko's gateway, a roadside station in Shari Town. It has a souvenir shop and a nature center. The food court here is excellent for a meal without a break. You can enjoy Hokkaido pork bowl and today's simmered fish set meal for around 1000 yen each, with a substantial amount. Be careful before dinner time!

I ordered the Ezo deer cutlet bowl. The deer cutlet was plentiful, topped with cabbage, and the combination of cutlet and sauce was good. However, the rice was strangely unappetizing, which I believe is an issue with the rice itself. If it weren't for the rice, I would have been satisfied. If I go there again, I will choose a menu item that doesn't include rice.

I ordered the Three-color Donburi for 1,950 yen. It looked beautiful, but the amount of seafood was small and the taste was just okay. The cost performance was not good either. Maybe it's because it's a shop for tourists. Some people say that no matter where you eat in Hokkaido, it's delicious, but there is still variation in quality.

Before going to the Shiretoko Five Lakes, I ordered a seafood bowl at the restaurant in the Michi no Eki (roadside station). It was fresh and delicious! There are many popular shops near the fishing port, but they may not be open early in the morning or they can get crowded. If you're looking for a lunch spot in Shiretoko, I recommend this place.

On the first meal of my trip to Eastern Hokkaido, I had a delicious meal at this roadside station restaurant. I ordered a silver salmon and salmon roe parent and child rice bowl set made with local ingredients. The salmon was fresh and not at all fishy, with just the right amount of fat and the salmon roe was firm and really tasty! The miso soup that came with it also had chunks of salmon in it, making it very flavorful and satisfying. Thank you for the meal!

We went on a trip to Yamagata, Sendai, and Hokkaido, but the popular shops were too crowded, so we had lunch at a roadside station. I couldn't decide between fish or pork bowl, but ended up choosing pork bowl (for the second time). The pork was generously topped with sauce, and it was neither good nor bad, just average. The turnover rate was good though! There were several seafood bowls available, but they all had salmon roe, so I gave up. By the way, my partner had a three-color bowl (salmon roe, salmon, scallops) which was delicious with plenty of toppings. The roadside station also had various items for sale, making it enjoyable, so I recommend it!

Self-service style restaurant where you order and pay (credit cards accepted) at a machine, then wait for your number to be called on a display board. After eating, you leave your dishes on a cart and place your card on the table before leaving. It felt like a food court. I had the silver salmon and ikura rice bowl, but I was a bit disappointed as I was expecting fresher salmon. The wasabi was actually mountain wasabi, which was spicy and delicious. I think I'll come back later in the season next time.

During this Silver Week period, Shiretoko is bustling with tourists. As for lunch, where should we go? I searched on Tabelog and found out that the Utro Fisheries Cooperative Women's Division is crowded with a wait of 10 people. I peeked into the dining area at the roadside station and saw a delicious-looking menu item: Shiretoko Seasonal Meal (simmered amberjack) for 1,200 yen.

I had a meal at the tip of a road station in Hokkaido. There are a few table seats and counter seats, and it's quite popular. There were a few groups waiting, but the staff efficiently guided us in, so it was smoother than I expected. I had the seafood bowl (medium size) with miso soup. It had a variety of seafood toppings. The miso soup had chunks of fish and plenty of vegetables. The scallops were sweet and delicious. I am grateful for the blessings of the north. I had underestimated road station meals, but I was completely satisfied. It was delicious.

Shiretoko's roadside station restaurant. I first visited 6 years ago. I remember being impressed when I had seafood bowl here for the first time. Despite being a tourist spot, the prices were reasonable and, above all, I was amazed by the freshness of the seafood. It was by far the best seafood bowl I've ever had. Since then, whenever I visited on my biannual trips, I always had their seafood bowl. This time, after a 2-year break, I revisited and honestly, I was disappointed. Prices have gone up, the freshness of the ingredients is poor, everything was bad. Maybe the management has changed? In any case, it's a shame. It's very sad to see a place with such memories deteriorate. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Shiretoko is a large roadside station in Shari Town, offering a variety of local specialties, sweets, and seafood products. Inside the store, there is also a dining area. Many of the sweets for sale use the local specialty koke momo. Soft serve ice cream is a must-try in Hokkaido, and the one here is delicious too. While classic vanilla is good, the koke momo soft serve is also tasty. They even have a float that resembles drift ice, with light blue soda and white soft serve. There is also a float made with koke momo soda. You can choose between vanilla and koke momo soft serve based on your preference. They also offer unique items like deer meat burgers, which were quite tasty as well.

I visited the restaurant around June 2021. Whenever I drive to Utoro, it has become a routine for me to stop at the roadside station and order a salmon roe bowl. It was priced at 2150 yen back then, which was already quite expensive, but I wonder if the price has increased even more now? The soy sauce used was additive-free, making it very delicious. Even for someone born and raised in Hokkaido, this salmon roe bowl is considered delicious!!

I visited the restaurant near Shiretoko Goko for a light meal before heading there. It was about a 5-minute drive from Oshinkoshin Falls. There was a restaurant at the back of the souvenir shop, with a take-out hamburger shop and a sit-down set meal shop. I chose the sit-down option. It was a ticket system, so I selected my meal using the touch panel next to the ticket machine. It was convenient that electronic money could be used. I was a bit tired of seafood, so I chose the pork bowl made with pork from Shari Town and the venison cutlet bowl. It didn't take long, about 10 minutes, for the food to be ready, and I picked it up at the counter. The pork bowl looked just like the photo, with a sweet and light sauce that matched well. The venison bowl, although not very thick, was fried medium-rare and had no gamey taste, making it easy to eat. It wasn't amazingly delicious, but for around 1000 yen, it was a good deal for decent portions of local food. Most people around me were having seafood dishes (laughs).

Before snow walking in Shiretoko, I used this restaurant for lunch. When I entered around noon and headed to the ticket machine, I was stopped by the staff. It seems that orders are placed at the same time as purchasing food tickets, and currently the restaurant is full. Since I was dining alone, I was seated in about 5 minutes. I ordered the limited quantity Shiretoko seasonal meal of the day, which featured yellowtail. It arrived in less than 10 minutes. Given the location, I couldn't help but have high expectations, but the taste was just a normal simmered yellowtail. I might have felt more of the atmosphere if it was hokke instead. The small dishes included mackerel and octopus sashimi. The miso soup had a delicious broth. It's understandable for the price of 1,200 yen, but overall the portion was small and the presentation of the small dishes was a bit lacking. The color scheme also felt dull, perhaps because the simmered dish was the main focus. This might just have been a matter of luck on that day.
