On this day, I went on a tour in Osaka with my wife. We visited this traditional Japanese confectionery store located in the heart of Umeda, at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store B1F. This store, established in 1805, sells Osaka specialties "Iwa Okoshi" and "Awa Okoshi". I came here to buy souvenirs for my workplace and home. Since I have eaten Iwa Okoshi and Awa Okoshi many times before, I decided to look for something different for my home. Therefore, I purchased the following items for my home:
- Melange Chocolat (Mixed Nuts) 369 yen
- Melange Chocolat (Bitter Caramel) 369 yen
- Consumption tax 134 yen
Total: 738 yen
Melange Chocolat is a modern version of Okoshi, a traditional Japanese confection, made in collaboration with couverture chocolate. I will try these snacks at home later.
- Melange Chocolat (Mixed Nuts): The box contains 7 packs of Melange Chocolat (Mixed Nuts). They are bite-sized, dark brown in color, with a crispy texture similar to Okoshi, and contain almonds, cashews, and macadamia nuts coated with couverture chocolate. I enjoyed the combination of nuts, chocolate, and crispy texture, which is exactly to my liking.
- Melange Chocolat (Bitter Caramel): After much consideration, I chose this flavor for the second item, focusing on the "bitter" aspect. Contrary to the name, this one has a light brown color, with a base of bitter caramel and white chocolate. Although I am not a big fan of white chocolate, it tasted good when combined with caramel. It was sweeter compared to the Mixed Nuts flavor. In my opinion, Mixed Nuts > Bitter Caramel, but both were delicious. At 342 yen for 7 pieces, it is reasonably priced for everyday enjoyment! Thank you for the meal! (As of December 20, 2017, no points were used)
