When I was working in Tokyo, I often ate the Hirakatsu sandwich from Maisen, but on this day I was in the mood for tonkatsu, so I decided to try the pork cutlet bento box. It cost around 1,000 yen. The pork cutlet was over 200g and came with simmered vegetables like simmered daikon and carrots. What was nice was that it came with two different sauces - tonkatsu sauce and grated radish sauce, as well as mustard and salt for different flavor variations. Although it wasn't freshly fried, it was still enjoyable to have all these options in a bento box. Thank you for the meal!

In the underground food market at Hakata Hankyu, there are several shops where you can enjoy light meals like curry, hamburgers, onigiri, and pizza at simple counter seats. On this day when there was no time to have a leisurely lunch, I decided to go for onigiri. As I entered the underground area, I found a counter where you can enjoy donburi and sandwiches from "Maisen". Since I love tonkatsu sandwiches, I decided to order here. I ordered the 3-piece pork cutlet sandwich (500 yen) and an orange juice (220 yen), totaling 720 yen (tax included; credit card accepted). It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. The pork cutlet sandwich was soft and the special sauce was delicious. The bread was also soft, which was a nice touch. I often buy the pork cutlet sandwich from here, and it always tastes good. The orange juice was refreshing too. It's convenient to use this place for a quick meal while shopping.

I've always been curious about Eat-in Corner, and this was my first visit. My partner had the special fillet cutlet bowl for 1000 yen, and I had the mixed cutlet bowl (shrimp fry + cutlet) for 900 yen. When it comes to cutlet bowls, I felt like the cutlet here could use a bit more juiciness. The cutlet sandwich, on the other hand, had the best meat in my opinion.

Recently opened in the Hankyu Hakata underground mall, "Mai Izumi" is a place I used to frequent for their katsu sandwiches when I worked in Tokyo. Feeling nostalgic, I decided to purchase one. The shop also offers a dining area where you can enjoy curry and katsu-don. Instead of just getting the pork cutlet sandwich, I opted for a set that included three pork cutlets and three shrimp cutlets. It cost around 900 yen. The pork cutlet was tender and the shrimp was firm and delicious. I should have paired it with beer instead of coffee! I'll definitely be coming back for more.

There's a new tonkatsu place called "Mai Izumi" in the basement of Hakata Hankyu. They offer various freshly fried tonkatsu dishes, not just the famous tonkatsu sandwich. I tried their tonkatsu bento for 1100 yen, which had a thick and delicious tonkatsu. They also have a variety of mini burgers, like the fillet cutlet burger for 220 yen, which is really cute. I would like to try other items on their menu as well. It's convenient being located in the station, perfect for grabbing a bite before a business trip.

This is Tonkatsu Maiizumi located in the basement of Hakata Hankyu. Here you can enjoy Maiizumi's famous dishes such as Hire Katsu Sandwich and bento boxes. I tried two sandwiches to go on this day. The Hire Katsu Sandwich (Honey Mustard) Mini, usually priced at 432 yen, was discounted by 100 yen. It is a slightly adult katsu sandwich with the sweetness of honey and the flavor of mustard added to the sandwich sauce. The Ebi Katsu Sandwich Mini, usually priced at 454 yen, was also discounted by 100 yen. It features crispy shrimp katsu with aurora sauce in the sandwich. The store is located on the B1 floor of Hakata Hankyu. Newly opened - Tonkatsu Maiizumi Hakata Hankyu Store {Hakata Station, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City} I visited Tonkatsu Maiizumi Hakata Hankyu Store on April 11, 2022 (Monday). This place is located in the basement of Hakata Hankyu. Maiizumi opened a new store here on April 6. This company has sales outlets in commercial facilities nationwide and operates 13 restaurants in Japan and 17 overseas, making it a popular spot. There are various fried foods on display, with tonkatsu being a particularly popular item. They also offer bento boxes and tonkatsu sandwiches. The tonkatsu sandwich is a signature dish of Maiizumi. Next to the store, there is a small eat-in area with four seats. The menu includes katsudon, tonkatsu sandwich, mixed katsudon, and more. I decided to order the special hire katsudon for 1000 yen (tax included). When I paid, it actually came out to 999 yen. Here is the special hire katsudon for 999 yen (tax included) with pickled cucumber on the side. The dish includes five pieces of tonkatsu with a perfect egg texture. The green peas garnish adds a nice touch. The tonkatsu is incredibly tender and delicious, with a crispy exterior and a melt-in-your-mouth softness. The rice soaked in sauce is also delicious. Although the rice portion was small, it was a fantastic lunch experience enjoying the best katsudon. Located at 1-1 Hakata Station Chuo-gai, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City, Basement 1st Floor of Hakata Hankyu. Closed on holidays following Hakata Hankyu's schedule.

I stopped by while shopping, and although the meat was good, I was foolish to expect a runny egg. I ended up with a dry and firm bowl, which was disappointing. I probably won't be coming back for a second time.
