In the summer, our favorite Hakata-style restaurant has upgraded to become an oyster shack for the winter! The tent to keep out the cold may feel a bit out of place with the Hakata atmosphere, but how about trying it out? You can enjoy delicious oysters with draft beer, hot sake, and hot water mixed with shochu. Indulge in the flavors of winter!

I went to the oyster shack because it looked interesting. The concept is great, but it's better to visit in the summer. There were not enough amenities like seasonings and plates.

The hidden gem of Omuta City, Hakata-ya. I've never seen a beer garden like this before! First of all, it's on the ground, not on a rooftop. And it's a real "garden". There are towering trees and a pond with 5-6 large turtles... and they are quite friendly (lol). It's only open during the summer. I went around 5-6 pm on a weekday and there were quite a few customers. They provide mosquito coils, but it's best to bring your own insect repellent. The snacks are generally a bit pricey. If you enjoy the atmosphere, it's a good idea to move on to a second place. Anyway, there's nothing like this beer garden!

This time, I went to the Beer Garden Hakata-ya with a casual feeling♪ I think this is my second time visiting, but I can't remember the first time (^_^;) Maybe it's due to memory loss from old age? It seems to be happening more often lately. Speaking of which, it feels like my late dog from last year is calling me, or not? It got dark, so skipping the introduction, let's go straight to the shop - charge~ In the abandoned old bustling area of Omuta, there is a beer garden nestled between buildings that feels like a time slip back to the Showa era☆☆☆☆☆ I quickly ordered a draft beer: Cheers~ And some snacks too... After a few minutes of waiting, they arrived. For some reason, the draft beer was so delicious! (The best!) I was deeply moved!!! The best beer I've ever had in my life was when I went to Koshikijima in Kagoshima by boat, entered the Koshikijima-kan hot spring, and drank a beer right after getting out of the bath. It was the best back then♪ And it's still the best now (^o^)///// Because I was dehydrated (^_^;) Various dishes (snacks) arrived one after another. Suddenly, I looked to the side and saw a turtle in the pond, not a carp. Thinking of the Telemark Sisters' kamaboko house, it's not the time to be in heat here. I tried eating edamame, but the turtle didn't eat it, even though it came close. I tried giving it various things, but it didn't seem interested. The staff took pity and brought turtle food. It's eating well!!! I've gone off on a tangent, so I'll end it early. Atmosphere: Excellent!!! Beer: For some reason, also excellent♪ Snacks, etc.: If the atmosphere and beer are delicious, the snacks can't be bad. In conclusion, the beer garden is excellent♪♪♪♪♪ But for some reason, my stomach is growling for more carbohydrates... Anyway, let's meet again next time on Tabelog. What's that, there wasn't anything funny this time... Oh well, I'll laugh in place of you (^o^)///♪

It has become almost an annual tradition to visit the long-established "Beer Garden Hakata-ya" in Omuta. They have been in business for over 50 years, and every year I wonder if they will open again safely due to their long history. They are usually closed during winter and open around after Golden Week until September. Well, this year they have opened again. Located near Shin-ei-cho Station in Omuta, it is a beer garden with a real garden setting, not on a rooftop like many others. When you enter the building, you will find a garden with trees and a pond, which is a paradise for turtles. How many years have these turtles been living here? They swim energetically around. Tables are set up in the garden, with pipe chairs for seating, which adds to the beer garden atmosphere. I started with a small draft beer, which was very cold and delicious. With each beer order, a small plate of snacks is served. The tables are quite stylish, with tile table tops that I remember were original and handmade during the winter when the beer garden is closed. For my second drink, I had a half-and-half with black beer and ordered potato chips as a snack. There is a counter at the entrance to the garden where a staff member is ready to take your order. Unlike many beer gardens that offer all-you-can-eat and drink at a fixed price, here you can order items individually, which I prefer since I don't consume a lot. The prices are a bit high, but considering the ambiance of the garden and the fact that it's a yearly event, I don't feel too dissatisfied. I hope they continue to operate for a long time and wish them success. The interior of the old building is actually a garden, and I enjoy the rustic atmosphere every year. Despite being a historic beer garden, it doesn't seem to be very well-known. The charming setting with the pond where turtles swim and the tall trees are delightful. I highly recommend visiting this summer to experience its unique charm.

In the past, when my father brought me here, I remember there being a grassy area. That was nearly 50 years ago. When I asked the innkeeper, she said she was just born at that time and has no memory of it. Now, the garden is sandy with homemade pottery tables and the young trees have grown big and lush. It's a proper garden. Why is it called Hakataya? The innkeeper's grandfather opened a dental clinic in Hakata, then relocated during the war to start this garden in Omura, which was rare at the time. The landlady is also a ceramic artist, running the Koyamizuhokuyo kiln, one of the twelve kilns that represent Kyushu with a 400-year history. During the autumn kiln opening, we gathered around a bonfire and were treated to dishes like pork miso soup. Even non-drinkers like me got excited on these occasions. I tried a half-and-half blend of black draft beer and lager beer in a small size. My partner had a small size of draft beer. We were served ham, sausages, and other delicacies that we don't usually get to eat, which made us feel like we were in paradise. As someone who was just recovering from an illness, I felt like I could handle it after a long time. I even got a refill. My heart was pounding a bit, so I ended the meal with tomato slices. The appetizer was edamame. Even edamame, the saltiness was just right. The summer festival at Rokuzanjin was also coming to an end.

After the war, a beer garden was started, which was quite rare at the time, and now it has easily surpassed 50 years since its establishment. It is not open all year round, only in the summer, so it has become a summer tradition. The interior of the restaurant is like a garden, with a small waterfall and pond, giving off a very old-fashioned impression. Drinking a cold beer in this space on a hot day makes you feel happy. The customers are clearly mostly older than our parents' generation, so they must be quite regular customers.
