On the first day in Fukuoka, we ended our day by visiting the food stalls at Nakasu Island, specifically "Nomryu". We lined up, waited for about 10 minutes, and got a seat. I had the Hakata-style pork bone ramen and beef tongue. When it comes to pork bone ramen, it usually has a distinct smell, but the pork bone ramen at Nomryu didn't have that at all. It was light, yet flavorful, and really delicious. The beef tongue was also tasty and it was a great way to finish the meal.

The day is long. From Oiyama viewing to lunch in Akoya, and then sauna in Nakasu followed by a food stall. This is Tonryu, established in Showa 20. It is one of the oldest food stalls in Nakasu. Although new stalls are increasing due to the revival of food stalls, the old-fashioned atmosphere is still calming. Oden, suji pon, ramen. Light and gentle seasoning, delicious. Enjoying the food is important, but savoring the atmosphere is the charm of food stalls. I will continue to enjoy Fukuoka!

Hakata Gourmet⑦ Yatai Nomryu Located in Nakasu Kawabata, known as the largest entertainment district in Western Japan. The row of yatai stalls along the Naka River is a spectacular sight. This time, I visited "Yatai Nomryu" attracted by the sign saying established in Showa 20. Despite being past 11 PM, the place was bustling with almost full seats. I ordered the "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen" and it arrived in about 5 minutes. Let's dig in! The soup was surprisingly light with no strong pork bone smell. It lacked a punch and felt a bit thin, but it was easy to drink. The noodles were thin and firm, which I quite liked. The soup and green onions intertwined perfectly, and I quickly finished it all with a slurp. The atmosphere of the yatai added to the experience, creating a sense of unity that was enjoyable. Thank you for the meal!

It's been about 8 years since I revisited Nakasu in Fukuoka. I really liked the ramen at Nomryu, and when I was working in Fukuoka, I would often stop by as a way to end the night. They used to be located near Haruyoshi Bridge over the Nakagawa River in Nakasu, but due to the bridge reconstruction, they have moved to the Nakasu 1-chome area, which is a bit further away from the bustling nightlife district. It's a bit inconvenient to get to their new location after drinking in Nakasu. I asked if they would return to their original location once the bridge construction was completed, but it seems uncertain. They are now situated among the food stalls in Nakasu, following government guidance to promote tourism. I had the Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen for 700 yen (tax included) and a bottle of beer for 700 yen (tax included). I have tried ramen from food stalls in Nakasu, Tenjin, and Nagahama, but Nomryu's tonkotsu ramen has a very light broth. While rich tonkotsu ramen would often give me heartburn in the middle of the night, this medium-bodied tonkotsu ramen is just right for the middle-aged. Whether it's too light or delicious is a matter of personal preference. For me, it's the perfect way to end a night of drinking. They also offer classic dishes like oden and grilled items, and while there are some more unique food stalls in the area, Nomryu is a place where you can leisurely enjoy the food stalls with peace of mind. It seems that foot traffic is gradually returning to the Nakasu food stall district in this period when the pandemic is settling down, and I can only hope that this trend continues. Thank you for the meal.

In early December, during my business trip in Kyushu, I was being cautious due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases nationwide. Despite avoiding gatherings and dining out, I found myself at a high-end lounge in Fukuoka with the local staff for a private party. The place was clean and the staff had all been tested recently, but I couldn't help but wonder about the costs involved. We enjoyed drinks in a sophisticated atmosphere, but the bill later caused some trouble with the accounting department. Despite not being directly involved, I somehow escaped blame for the extravagant night. In the end, I ended up having ramen at a familiar food stall with an old colleague, as a more low-key way to end the night.

I had already eaten some gyoza, so I ordered ramen, suji pon, and oden. The suji pon was unexpected - it was oden suji without the skewer, topped with green onions and ponzu sauce. The oden had a unique broth. The ramen was cheap and had a surprisingly light tonkotsu soup.

During my trip to Fukuoka, I visited a famous food stall for the first time. I was looking for a izakaya but it was crowded, so I ended up at "Yatai Nomuryu" stall. I ordered ramen, bottled beer, and vinegar motsu. The beer was delicious, especially because it was hot outside. The bottled beer at the stall was amazing. The ramen was also delicious. I tried tonkotsu ramen at several places during my trip, but this was the best. It was light and flavorful, without any unpleasant smell. I definitely want to come back to this stall when I visit Fukuoka again.

Personally, I cannot really appreciate food stalls. In Nakasu, the staff at the shops are desperate to fill seats, and there used to be many stalls, mainly serving oden, in front of Vivre in Yokohama, but they have now been cleaned up, which is really good. The manners of both the staff and customers are not great, and the area used to smell bad during the day. I went into this shop and was enjoying oden, drinking highballs, and chatting with friends. When I mentioned that I didn't plan to eat ramen, they promptly asked me to leave. It's inconvenient not to eat ramen at a food stall. They were too blunt and the prices were too high. Not just this shop, but maybe it's better to think of the food stall area as an amusement facility.

When you come to the food stalls in Nakasu, you definitely have to try the ramen! I visited a few shops, but they were all basically full so I had to wait a bit to get a seat. The ramen was very delicious, but it was surprisingly light in flavor.

I went drinking and eating in Hakata, and of course ended up at the yatai in Nakasu. I've thought about not going to the yatai in Nakasu many times, but I always end up going. One of my companions was a bit unsteady on their feet. It was dangerous, so we put them in a taxi and the rest of us, still full of energy, charged ahead. One of our group had been here before and said it was great, so we decided to go. The sign said the place was established in Showa 20 (1945). It's an old-fashioned yatai run by a mother and father duo. There were only two groups of customers, both regulars from the area. I had high hopes. It was a scene you don't often see at yatai in Nakasu. We started with bottled beer and oden (3 types for 500 yen), seared mentaiko for 800 yen, and mezasu for 600 yen. Listening to the conversation between the regulars and the mother of the shop was heartwarming. I decided to try the tonkotsu ramen for 700 yen (tax included). The soup was surprisingly light but had a good depth of flavor. The noodles were firm. It was topped with plenty of wood ear mushrooms and green onions. Maybe it was because I had been drinking, but it was delicious in its own way. This yatai is popular not only with tourists but also with locals.

I walked through the food stalls street and ended up deciding on ramen. This shop is different from others as most people seem to come here just for the ramen. The soup is a light tonkotsu broth typical of Hakata, with just the right amount of saltiness. The soup has a unique appearance being white, but also has a clearness to it. Despite being quite fatty, it goes down smoothly. The thin straight noodles were cooked perfectly and delicious. When walking through Nakasu's food stalls street, ending with ramen is definitely the way to go.

The gratitude of being able to eat ramen at a food stall is unparalleled. Even just one bowl of ramen, I want to savor it slowly before heading home. Especially on a cold winter night after drinking, it warms you up. I haven't been able to visit for a long time due to the current situation, but I want to come back when this city is lively again.

The shop owner was kind, and the atmosphere at the food stall was great. I wish the ramen had a stronger flavor, but it was just right as a finishing touch. I wanted to try other dishes besides ramen, but I left early to be considerate of the next customers waiting. The oden looked delicious too. I would like to visit again when I come to Nakasu in Hakata.

I want to know why such delicious food can be made in such a small place like that ramen shop. Personally, I liked it more than Shin Shin.
