This is a very charming restaurant. The atmosphere is so nice that whenever I come to Kyoto, I feel like visiting it. First of all, the location is great. It is located in the middle of Pontocho, where adults can enjoy delicious food and drinks in a quiet and exciting atmosphere. As you pass through the sliding door, a cobblestone path leads to the entrance, where you take off your shoes for the first time. The attentive staff notice you right away and greet you. It feels like a private house, but inside it is spacious, and you are guided to a private room on the second floor. Last time, we were a party of two and were shown to a private room, and this time as well. Moreover, the room is large enough to accommodate about 8 people if tables are arranged. The spacious interior, with just the right amount of lighting, tatami mats, sliding doors, and a maroon round table, creates a feeling of traveling back to the Showa era, or rather, the end of the Edo period, in the atmosphere of Kyoto. You can choose from six types of dishes, such as sukiyaki, Mizutaki, Oyakodon, Shioyaki, and Amiyaki, but of course, we chose sukiyaki. When I asked, "Do regular customers switch to something other than sukiyaki?" the answer was, "No, sukiyaki is the most popular." The style is to grill the sugar on the pot, then pour the meat and sauce on it. The Maillard reaction, in which amino acids and sugars combine due to heat, creates a deliciously fragrant aroma. Naturally, the seasoning is slightly sweet, but that's the taste of sukiyaki. The meat is served in large slices for one person, with just the right amount of fat and a good melt-in-your-mouth texture. The vegetables are all fresh and crunchy, and the wheat gluten absorbs the broth and is very delicious. Not only is the taste delicious, but the atmosphere also enhances the flavor, making it a perfect example of a restaurant. I really love this place. Thank you for the meal.
