I have been using LP (Lunch Passport) for various meals, which mainly offer one-coin menus, but also feature premium one-coin menus. This time, I visited "Shogetsutei Hakata Nakasu Store" located on the 2nd floor of a stylish building on the east side of Canal City. I arrived at 12 o'clock. Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a serene Japanese-style atmosphere with a bright and clean appearance featuring white and wood tones. The seating consisted of around 10 counter seats and private rooms. Since I was dining alone, I was naturally seated at the counter. I ordered the LP menu item "Extra Topping Special Seafood Bowl (1,650 yen → 1,000 yen)". It was a type where the rice and sashimi were served separately. The menu included instructions on how to eat it: "Start with the sashimi → Then have the seafood bowl with sesame dressing → Finally, enjoy it as ochazuke with dashi broth." I decided to pair it with some chilled sake. With the money saved from using LP, I ordered the "Tanaka Rokujugo (120ml, 700 yen)", a famous brand of sake that was also selected for JR Kyushu's sightseeing train "Nanatsuboshi". The dish arrived shortly after. Although the staff explained how to eat it, I would have preferred if they explained the types of fish instead. The sashimi was served on a separate plate, consisting of four different types, with two pieces each, totaling eight pieces. I believe they were probably tuna, mackerel, flounder, and sea bream. The sashimi was all fresh and flavorful, but each piece was too large, making it a bit challenging to eat. It would have been easier to enjoy if the sashimi was divided into smaller portions of three pieces each for each type, allowing for a more enjoyable experience of "sashimi → sesame dressing → ochazuke". Some people may consider three pieces of sashimi as bad luck, but for the sake of the three-step eating process, it would have been more reasonable. Also, if you think about it, three pieces × four types = 12 pieces, which is completely different from the superstition. After enjoying the sesame dressing seafood bowl and ochazuke, I found the broth for the ochazuke to have a smoky flavor, which was delicious. The atmosphere was nice, the food was tasty, but the oversized sashimi seemed to overshadow the quality of the dish. It felt like a waste in many ways. Thank you for the meal.
