On a regular Tuesday, a little past 10:30 AM. Today is the annual health check-up day. The health check-up starts at 10 AM and ends in 30 minutes, but it takes about an hour for the results to come out. It's a tradition to have brunch while waiting for the results. I usually go to the neighboring Bamiyan, but since I wrote a review last year, I decided to try here this year. Royal Host holds a special place in my heart and is actually my favorite family restaurant. It's located around Sengawa where Koshu Kaido and Old Koshu Kaido intersect, and I may have had some youthful experiences there during my university days (laughs). I wonder if that place is still there? During my student days, I used to have the Mixed Grill. As a working adult, it's Clubhouse Sandwich all the way. But today, for the first time, I'm having a solo weekday lunch at Royal Host. Since I can't drink beer during work, I'll play it safe and go for the daily special. On Tuesdays, it's Chicken with Mushroom Sauce & Black Wagyu Potato Croquette Lunch (968 yen) (with a free large rice upgrade) and the Lunch Drink Bar (286 yen), making it a total of 1,254 yen. After ordering, the lunch soup arrives quickly. I'd like to have it with rice, but it's best to drink it before it gets cold. It's an onion soup, and it's delicious. About 15 minutes later, it still hasn't arrived. Oh, I forgot I got the drink bar. I should go get some coffee. Ah, here it is! Let's start with the chicken. I don't see chopsticks, so I'll have to use the knife and fork to cut and eat. Hmm, it's delicious. It has a slight buttery flavor, which is nice. The mushrooms look a bit chewy, but when you chew them, they have a subtle texture. It's decent. Next, let's try the croquette. This is also a bit tricky to eat with a knife and fork, but let's give it a try. As expected, when I cut it, the inside potato gets a bit mushy. Oh well, let's just eat it. Well, the croquette is... just a croquette. To be honest, I prefer the 50 yen croquettes from the meat shop, so even if it's made with black Wagyu, it doesn't really stand out for me. The crispy fried texture is nice though. As for the drink bar, I had two cups of hot coffee, two double shots of espresso, two cups of oolong tea, and one cup of hot chocolate? Is that enough to drink? I see, so this is what a Royal Host lunch is like. It's decent, a bit pricey but worth it once in a while. Now, time to pay. I can use the GO TO EAT digital vouchers, lucky me. This way, I've used them all up. The deadline is tomorrow, so it worked out perfectly. Thank you for the meal. Postscript: After this, once again this year, I was declared as a potential metabolic syndrome candidate, and so the re-examination was ordered...
