I arrived at Iwataya. The purpose is Evan's café (Bar a Chocolat). There used to be a café attached to a store in Kyoto in Kansai, but it closed down before I had a chance to visit. The boutique is located in Kyoto Isetan, but there are currently no café-attached stores in Kansai. They exist in other regions, so I hope for a revival. The store is designed with the boutique on the left and the café on the right. Although the entrances are separate, they are connected inside. The boutique is set at a lower room temperature than the café, and their extraordinary dedication to chocolate was evident. Menu Rive gauche (1,430 yen) is a set of Duja Pistache and a choice of drink. Not all drinks can be chosen, the staff will guide you on the available options. The price for the set is fixed, even though individual drink prices may vary. Duja Pistache (710 yen) is a petit gateau with layers of pistachio ganache, chocolate mousse, and cocoa biscuit. The pistachio flavor is subtle but adds depth. It has a light texture for a chocolate gateau, making it easy to enjoy. JPH Mélange (935 yen) is a blend of tea by Evan himself, recommended to pair with chocolate. It includes a small amount of lapsang souchong blended with Ceylon tea. Lapsang souchong is a Chinese black tea with a unique smoky aroma that spreads richly. The tea has a rounded mouthfeel with no astringency. The quality of the water used was also very high. The pot served about 2 and a half cups. Macaron Chocolat à l'ancienne (770 yen) features a rich ganache noir sandwiched between a crunchy macaron shell. The simple composition allows the chocolate flavor to shine through directly. The balance between the ganache and macaron was exquisite, resulting in a not-too-heavy texture.

I visited a chocolate specialty store at Iwataya Main Store. It is a French chocolate and pastry brand from Paris. I once used their cafe a few years ago. This time, I received their assortment as a birthday present. When I opened the box, I found madeleines and three types of sablés. In the cute pink box in the middle, there was an assortment of chocolates! The chocolates were elegant, melted in the mouth, and I was impressed by the deliciousness packed in such small sizes.

I heard about this place from a friend in Fukuoka and decided to try it out for a morning cafe experience. It is located in the basement of the Iwataya Main Store and has a luxurious atmosphere. I was a bit intimidated by the exterior of the store, but the female staff inside greeted me with a smile and welcomed me in. I ordered the Dome Chocolat Framboise drink set (1,980 yen including tax) and two macarons - Caramel and Fraise (352 yen each). I chose hot coffee and cafe au lait for my drinks. The sweets took a bit of time to be served, but it was clear that they were being made with care. The chocolate was fluffy and smooth, while the macarons had a mix of crunchy and chewy textures. The high quality sweetness, bitterness, and richness of the desserts were unlike anything I had tasted before. The staff were also incredibly friendly and made my visit very enjoyable. It was a lovely cafe experience that left me feeling refreshed. Thank you for the wonderful time.

I have tried Jean-Paul Hevin's chocolates before, but this was my first time trying their cake. I pre-ordered a Christmas cake and picked it up on the day. This Christmas cake was called "Noel au Balcon". It had a chocolate biscuit at the bottom, vanilla and Timut pepper cream brulee almond biscuit inside, and was covered with Peruvian cocoa mousse on the outside. The chocolate flavor was rich but not overly sweet, making it easy to devour. I had never heard of Timut pepper before, but it added a fruity and slightly spicy flavor that paired well with the chocolate. Overall, it was delicious and I would definitely want to have it regularly if it was sold more often.

I wandered around the familiar Iwataya department store in Tenjin, looking for something. Feeling a bit tired, I decided to have a tea break, but all the other shops seemed crowded. Then I remembered this particular shop. It's a bit pricey, but if there's a seat available, I can relax comfortably. I ordered a cake and coffee from the shop that makes them, and took a moment to rest. Due to COVID, there are only four tables available. The counter seats are not in use. After a while, the cake and coffee arrived. I thought about wanting champagne if I could drink alcohol, but settled for coffee. Although I don't really like chocolate, I find myself eating it every time from this shop that sells chocolates. I guess I can still eat it because I like it. I had a sweet moment and my energy was restored. I wonder if I'll come back again.

I used the cafe inside the store. I ordered a set of two Bonbon Chocolat and a drink. You can choose the Bonbon Chocolat from the showcase. I chose Truffle and Saffia. Both were sweet and very delicious! The drink was hot chocolate.

No matter how many times I come, the chocolate here is incredibly delicious. The spicy tea mixed with orange juice is refreshing and elegant. I always end up buying marmalade and jam as souvenirs, but they can add up to the price of a French lunch. Still, I keep coming back! There's no Jean-Paul Hévin south of Hiroshima. The MOF title is not just for show, he is the true emperor of the chocolate world.

Eat-in service has resumed~♪ The inside of the store smells of strawberry sauce. Chocolat Framboise Amour is a limited edition cake available until the end of February. It features a combination of Venezuelan cocoa mousse and raspberries, with a bright red heart decoration. The chocolate has a slightly sweet and sour flavor, complemented by a delicious raspberry sauce with just the right amount of acidity. The rich cocoa mousse layered cake is also to my liking in terms of sweetness, with a slightly firm texture. I didn't find it too heavy, even with the Chocolate Drink Set (¥1,485). While cakes are often paired with coffee, I recommend the chocolate drink here. I had a high-quality café time in a calm space.

I had used takeout a few times before, but this was my first time using the cafe. It was empty and I was alone, so I decided to go in. Lucky me. I chose the seasonal assortment plate and a seasonal drink. Hot chocolate drinks can be hit or miss, but this one was definitely a hit. The sweets were also delicious. It's not cheap, and the place isn't very spacious, so I wouldn't think of coming here to relax with friends or my husband, but it's perfect for when you want to treat yourself a little alone. The macaron was so tasty that I bought the same flavor to take out. It's great that you can do that in a cafe with a retail section.

When it comes to Jean-Paul Hevin, you think of chocolate. Or should I say, "chocolat." Of course, it's incredibly delicious, but this time, I'll skip that and talk about the chestnut marron glace made with seasonal chestnuts. The shining chestnuts look divine. These beautifully shaped chestnuts emit a lovely fragrance. Even though there are only two of them, they still look impressive. When you bite into them, you can feel their firm texture and the rich flavor that seeps through. I don't know what's seeping through, but it's probably alcohol. With each bite, a delightful aroma escapes through your nose, creating a charming atmosphere. I can't quite explain the atmosphere, but it feels good. I think this is a seasonal treat, so if you have the chance, please give it a try. Another treat is the macarons. I left it to the kind staff to choose four colorful sweets for me, and they were all delicious. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I love the macarons from Jean-Paul Hévin! He introduced me to the deliciousness of macarons. The atmosphere of the shop is also lovely. At Iwataya entrance, a non-contact temperature check and alcohol disinfection are required. A box of 4 macarons costs ¥1,256, with flavors like matcha, caramel, and amer (bitter chocolate ganache). You can choose your favorite from several options. They can be refrigerated and last for 4 days (vegetable compartment is ideal). I prefer to take them out of the fridge a bit before eating so the ganache is soft. The combination of the macaron shell and ganache cream is amazing in terms of aroma, texture, and melt-in-your-mouth experience. An 8-piece box costs ¥2,509. It would make a great gift that anyone would appreciate!

Last year, I went on the final day hoping to get this Mont Blanc, but they announced that it was sold out. When I asked when it would be back in stock, they said "next year"… And now, a year later, I finally met the Mont Blanc I've been waiting for! The packaging is stylish and cute. When I tried it, the chestnut flavor in the cream was really prominent. It has an adult taste. The cream on top, with chopped chestnuts, is excellent and you can tell they use high-quality ingredients. It's incredibly delicious. And underneath, there's a crispy, caramel-infused sponge-like treat that adds a unique texture and pairs perfectly with the cream. I used to love the Mont Blanc from a certain famous bakery, but this one is just as delicious. Let's meet again next year!

I came here in search of the autumn limited Mont Blanc, but it was already sold out. Instead, I decided to try the Maron Cake, Pavlova Cassis Maron, with a coffee drink. The meringue on top was crispy, with a generous amount of high-quality whipped cream. The chestnut paste on top had a rich flavor and a fragrant aroma. I wish there was a bit more of it to balance with the whipped cream. The sweet and sour cassis sauce at the bottom, when combined, created a harmonious blend of flavors in my mouth. The seasonal chestnut flavor is truly delicious. I still love meringue on Mont Blanc! My friend had the chocolate cake, which was also rich and paired well with the slightly acidic coffee. I will definitely come back next time to get the Mont Blanc that I missed out on!

Today, I had a study session in Akasaka in the morning, followed by back-to-back meetings in Tenjin. Lunch was provided in the form of a bento, which was great. However, after the meetings, I started feeling tired and craving something sweet, so I decided to visit this place. Looking at the menu, everything looked delicious, but I ended up choosing a seasonal limited-time menu item. It took some time to prepare after ordering, but the dessert was worth the wait and tasted delicious. I had a luxurious time.

After shopping at Iwataya, I stopped by this salon, popular among chocolate lovers. I wanted to have chocolate and champagne, but when I looked at the menu, I was disappointed to see that they no longer had alcohol options. I ended up ordering a set for 1300 yen that caught my eye. The Verrine Mascarpone Cafe was delicious, with rich cheese and rich chocolate. I also had a coffee. The cakes and chocolates here never disappoint. It was delicious.

I took a break here after wandering around Tenjin. It's a chocolate shop that I've heard of before. The cafe menu is quite expensive, but it's understandable since it's a famous chocolate and department store branch. I tried the eclair that is only available on weekends. People passing by the shop window from the department store seem to hesitate to come in due to the prices. Most of them just peek in and then leave. The eclair and coffee were delicious!

Jean-Paul Évan☆ Kito offers delicious baked goods with a light yet rich chocolate flavor that is both fluffy and crispy. The almond aroma is also excellent, making their baked goods a favorite. The chocolate financiers are particularly tasty and I find myself coming back for more. The truffles have a smooth texture and the sweetness is just right. The cakes are a bit pricey but still good. It's easy to overindulge when choosing each piece individually to buy. I believe there are no disappointments here. My favorite place to go for treats. First, the staff opens the door for you. The shop is small but has a classy atmosphere. There is no background music. It's Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The Grand and Eclair were sold out. Wow, Eclairs are popular, surprising! I ordered the Caracas (688 yen). For drinks... I'm embarrassed to say, just water. Tea is over 700 yen... The cake is delicious! I thought it would be good, but it's definitely the best chocolate cake I've ever had. Sweet but not too heavy. The ratio of chocolate mousse to sponge is different from other cake shops. Lots of mousse. This is happiness. I'd like to try other cakes, but they're a bit pricey for me.

I had to go to Tenjin on the last day of Golden Week, so I decided to visit a shop I had wanted to go to for a while. Since Mother's Day is coming up soon and my eldest son is going to give me a present, I was excited to go to the shop. Although I would have preferred to dine in and relax, I didn't have much time so I decided to get takeout instead. Please note that the entrance changes depending on whether you choose to dine in or get takeout. When I entered the shop, I felt a delicate atmosphere with a slightly cool air, which complemented the refined chocolates. I was having trouble deciding what to get, but the staff kindly explained the cakes to me. I decided on the Caracas cake, as it seemed easy to eat. I also purchased an eclair and some macarons. When it came time to pay, my eldest son looked like he might go over budget (lol) so I had to chip in. He didn't expect it to be that expensive, but sometimes delicious things come at a price! We enjoyed the treats on the way home, and the recommended Caracas cake was truly delicious. It was moist and rich, and I imagine it would have been even better with a nice cup of coffee... My sister said she would like to have it with whipped cream, but I think it's perfect as it is. The macarons were also consistently delicious. My younger son loved them and ate them all, so I hope to visit the shop again for a leisurely dine-in experience next time.
