I visited "zawa Coffee and Tamago Kake Gohan" to enjoy a beautifully presented tamago kake gohan that is perfect for Instagram. The restaurant is named after the owner, Mr. Ozawa, and I made a reservation through a URL link on Instagram. The tamago kake gohan offers four types of eggs:
- Akane (¥1,200): Eggs from parent chickens raised in a free-range farm in Tochigi, fed with organic feed and no GMO soybeans. The yolks are rich and deep red, similar to ketchup.
- Daidai (¥1,100): Eggs from the same farm in Tochigi, with a softer texture and less intense flavor compared to Akane.
- Shiratama (¥900): Eggs from parent chickens raised on rice in Ehime, with slightly whitish yolks and a hint of sweetness.
- Yuzu-tama (¥700): Light and refreshing eggs with the aroma of yuzu from Kochi.
Optional toppings include meringue, kettle-boiled whitebait, chicken broth, and bonito flakes. The drink menu offers various coffees, including the May Blend and Milk Coffee, as well as unique options like Ororamin C with egg and Charcoal Cider.
The restaurant also serves desserts like pudding and ice cream, along with a selection of four soy sauces: white soy sauce, transparent soy sauce from Kumamoto, bonito and mackerel dashi soy sauce, and oyster soy sauce.
I tried the Akane tamago kake gohan with meringue topping, Akane-made pudding, and Milk Coffee. The tamago kake gohan was rich and flavorful, with the meringue adding a light texture. The different soy sauces and sesame oil provided a variety of flavors to enjoy.
Overall, the experience was fantastic, with each dish beautifully presented and meticulously prepared. The serene atmosphere, accompanied by soothing music, added to the overall branding of the restaurant. It was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it.
