I visited the Hatake Shokudo restaurant in Rikubetsu after finding the shrine closed. It was my first time there and I was pleasantly surprised by the spacious and clean interior. I ordered the cold soba noodles which were served promptly and were delicious. The noodles were chewy and flavorful, and the tempura was crispy and tasty. The broth was sweet and enjoyable. The highlight was the soba soup, which was thick and rich with a strong soba flavor. I plan to visit again when I come back for the shrine stamp. Thank you for the meal.

Adult Day holiday. I was planning to work, but the weather was nice and I had accumulated some substitute holidays, so I decided to take a rare human-like holiday and go for a drive towards Rikubetsu. I arrived just after noon, so I decided to have lunch at Hata Shokudo. There were hardly any people in town, but when I entered the restaurant, I was surprised to see so many people. Even though I was alone, I was allowed to sit in a raised seating area by the staff. After looking at the menu and struggling to decide, I interviewed the staff for recommendations and ended up having a warm kashiwa soba. The balance between the flavor of the soba and the richness of the soba broth was exquisite, and the customer sitting behind me even said, "I could keep drinking this forever" (which is a bit of an exaggeration, haha). After the meal, I felt cozy with the thick and rich soba broth.

I felt like having some soba soup, so I visited this place. I wanted to savor the soba, so I ordered the simple Mori Soba for 700 yen. It took about 10 minutes for them to serve it, maybe because it takes time to boil. The soba had a rustic texture to it. The broth had a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. The soba soup I was looking forward to was still incredibly rich. The sweetness and aroma of the soba really stood out. I definitely want to stop by again. Thank you for the meal.

In April 2021, I visited Ribetsu. I decided to have lunch at "Hata Shokudo" on my way from Asahikawa to Obihiro, taking a long route. I had read some good reviews about this soba restaurant. The place was mostly full, with locals making up half of the customers. I opted for the pork bowl, priced at 850 yen. The sauce was very strong and salty, and it ended up being a bit disappointing despite the good quality of the meat. I should have stuck to having soba instead of trying the pork bowl.

This is Mr. Masaru from the Hata Dining Hall. Today, I decided to try the curry soba. I have only had curry once before, but this is my first time trying curry soba. It took about 15 minutes for it to be served. Oh! The appearance is amazing, you can't even see the soba because the curry is so thick. It came with plenty of leeks. It was really hot, with a thick and spicy curry sauce. It was so hot that it was difficult to eat. The soba took a while to soften as I struggled with the heat and sweat. Next time I order curry soba, I'll make sure to prepare for the heat first. Thank you for the meal.

This is Mr. Masaru from the Qin Dining Hall. Today's dish is Egg and Vegetable Stir-Fry Soba, priced at 1,000 yen. It's packed with eggs and has a strong flavor. The scent of the broth and the rich taste are irresistible. The thick noodles go well with the stir-fry. I had a satisfying meal with this dish. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the restaurant called Masaru Hata Shokudo! The prices are a bit high, but it's a delicious soba restaurant. On this day, I ordered the "Hiya Atsu Nuki" cold soba for 900 yen. The soba noodles were firm and had a great texture. The dipping sauce was delicious, with a fragrant and gentle flavor. It was my first time having cold soba in a while, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

This is Mr. Seiki from the Qin Cafeteria. Today, I decided to try the curry.
Curry Rice - 750 yen
There are people who occasionally eat it. Sometimes, you can smell curry in the air inside the restaurant. It's ready in about 10 minutes. Let's dig in.
The curry has a very thick consistency. It's quite different from the curry I usually eat. It's a bit more yellowish and has a good amount of spiciness and heat. It's not like the curry you would find at a typical soba restaurant. It's quite a unique curry.
Thank you for the meal.

This is "Masami Hata Shokudo" in Rikubetsu-cho. Located at 5-7 Rikubetsu Genya Line, Kitami-gun, Hokkaido, it is a traditional establishment that started as a Japanese confectionery store before transitioning into a soba restaurant. It was founded in 1947, making it a 73-year-old long-standing eatery now run by the third generation. The current owner has experience competing in badminton at the Inter-High level. The soba served at Hata Shokudo is made from 100% Hokkaido-grown soba flour, without any additives. I tried the "Oomori soba," which had a surprisingly firm texture and a sweet and flavorful broth that complemented the thick soba noodles perfectly. A friend once told me, "When in Rikubetsu, you must try the soba," and I can confirm that the soba here lives up to that recommendation.

When it comes to dining in Roppongi, the first thing that comes to mind is this long-established soba shop. After skimming through the comments from reviewers, I noticed that no one mentioned the curry rice, so I resisted the urge to order soba and instead opted for the curry rice priced at 750 yen (tax included). When I placed my order, the staff asked me about the level of spiciness. They recommended the normal level of medium spiciness, but mentioned that you can adjust it with shichimi (Japanese seven-spice blend) to make it spicier or sweeter. I went with the normal medium spiciness. Come to think of it, this is my first time having curry at a soba shop. I do enjoy having curry soba as a quick stand-up meal after drinking. The curry rice that was served had a generous portion of thinly spread rice on a large plate, slightly firm in texture. It contained plenty of onions and small pieces of chicken skin. Initially, I didn't feel much spiciness, but as I continued to eat, I realized it was indeed medium spicy. It might be slightly spicy for children. Personally, I would prefer a bit more spiciness. Mixing this with soba creates a delicious curry soba, making it a dish that makes you want to come back for more. I also tried a bit of the "zaru soba" priced at 850 yen that my partner ordered. The noodles were firm and delicious as expected. The soba broth was quite thick and rich. The dilemma now is whether to go for soba or curry rice on my next visit. Oh, they also have pork bowl on the menu. Hmm, what should I do~ ^ ^;

I went to the Seiki Hattendo cafeteria! I had my usual lunch today, warm soba noodles. I ordered the "tanuki soba" for 900 yen including tax, which is a bit expensive. It was served in about 10 minutes. The aroma of the broth is irresistible. The tempura flakes and green onions are finely done. When they dissolve in the broth, they add a unique sweetness. The soba noodles have a nice texture. It was delicious! I also had two cups of thick soba broth, which was filling. Once again, the soba noodles were delicious today. Thank you for the meal!

I went to the restaurant called Seiki in Hata Shokudo! This is a revisit. Today, I decided to try their pork bowl instead of soba. The pork bowl costs 850 yen including tax. I'm looking forward to trying the pork bowl at a soba restaurant. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The bowl and the soup bowl had lids, and when I opened them, I found thick slices of pork, relatively large. Let's dig in - Wow! Delicious! The sauce is great. It's not just sweet and salty, but it also has a unique secret sauce flavor. I can feel something deep in it. The meat is tender, and I think they use good quality meat. The rice is also delicious. The firmly cooked rice is the perfect match for the pork bowl. The soba is also tasty, but the pork bowl is also good. Just be aware that there is no set menu. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the Hata Dining Hall today! It's a revisit. I decided to have warm soba today. Kakesoba for 700 yen including tax. Waited for about 7 minutes. Here it is - oh, it comes with soba-yu (soba dipping sauce)! Quite rare. Let's try the kakesoba - delicious!! The balance between the broth and soba is really good. I wonder if it's because the broth is delicious that the flavor of the soba stands out even more. It has an elegant taste. The flavor of the soba is solid and the broth is skillfully adjusted to complement the soba perfectly. It's been a while since I've had such delicious warm soba. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant Masaki Hata Shokudo for the first time! It is a long-established soba restaurant in Rikubetsu Town. Rikubetsu is known for the Shibare Festival, where people from all over the country come to experience the cold of "Japan's coldest town" by spending a night at the venue and participating in human cold endurance tests. It has been decades since I last ate here. The restaurant looks new and clean. I ordered the Mori Soba for 700 yen including tax. It was quite crowded during lunchtime. The soba was a bit darker in color, not too thin or too thick, just the right thickness. The soba had a nice aroma and was firm and elastic, with a strong flavor of the broth. The broth was not sweet, but had a rich flavor. I would have preferred it to be a bit spicier. Overall, the soba was delicious. The soba-yu (soba water) was thick and rich, and I ended up drinking most of it. In addition to soba, they also offer pork bowl and curry rice. Thank you, Masaki Hata Shokudo, for the delicious meal!

On the way between Kitami and Tokachi, there is a town called Rikubetsu. It is the coldest town in Japan, with consecutive days of temperatures below -20°C. This soba restaurant is located a little off the main road. It has a splendid appearance. It's difficult to stop by as I rarely pass through Rikubetsu during the restaurant's opening hours when going to or coming back from work. I can only come here occasionally. Today, since I came all this way, I will try both the warm kashiwa soba and the cold mori soba. The slightly flat-cut 100% buckwheat country soba has a strong texture and a sweet taste. It goes well with the sweet dashi broth with a hint of bonito. The kashiwa soba is delicious with the richness and umami of the parent chicken. The soba-yu is thick and murky, more like tea than clear. The color is dark! I enjoyed a soba lunch in the extreme cold of this region.

While on my way from Kitami to Obihiro, I came across a charming soba restaurant. It was -3 degrees Celsius that day, so I decided to warm up with a bowl of soba. I ordered the tempura soba (1150 yen), which featured hand-cut rustic soba noodles. The broth was just the right level of sweetness with a rich dashi flavor. The soba was delicious, although I was a bit confused about how to enjoy the soba-yu that was served alongside it. The service was not as attentive as I had hoped, possibly because the regular customers were the main focus.

Oomori soba for 950 yen (tax included). The thick noodles of the countryside soba have a firm and smooth texture, which some people may like and others may not. The sauce is on the sweeter side. The soba water is thick and gooey, which I really like. It's even better than the soba itself. The soba water gets a high rating. The staff's service is good too.

I visited a supposedly delicious soba restaurant in the coldest town in Japan, Rikubetsu Town. However, the Oomori soba for 950 yen was not very filling and seemed expensive. Both the dipping sauce and noodles were just okay. The soba broth was thick and had a strong bitter taste, so I gave up after just a few sips. Maybe this is good for soba lovers? Overall, it was just an average soba restaurant except for the soba broth.

While living in Hokkaido in July 2019, I visited Rikubetsu Town for the first time as a navigation refugee. On the way back from the Bihoro Town Wagyu Festival held the day before, I stopped by a roadside station and heard the lunchtime siren, so I decided to look for a place to eat lunch. I found the top-ranked place in the area on Tabelog and entered the popular restaurant. Shortly after entering, a group of people arrived and the restaurant quickly filled up. I ordered the adult kashiwa soba and the child mori soba. The broth was on the sweeter side, which most people seemed to enjoy. However, the noodles were medium-thick and had a firm texture, which could be a matter of personal preference. Personally, I liked the flavor of the broth but found the noodles a bit challenging to eat, especially when cold. The rich soba soup was so addictive that I could see myself craving it again. Thank you for the meal.

I had soba noodles in the cold winter of Rikubetsu Town. There were few places to eat in Rikubetsu Town around 3 o'clock in the afternoon, but I found Tai Shokudo open so I decided to give it a try. An elderly woman was running the place by herself at first, but a few more customers arrived later. Since I didn't know what to order, I chose the Tanuki Soba because I wanted something warm. The soba noodles had a firm and thick texture, and the kamaboko added a nice touch. The soba broth was thick and hearty, so I had a little bit at the end. Keep up the good work!
