I went to this restaurant after seeing it in a magazine and it looked quite delicious. It is a cozy place located on the left side as you head towards Torikai from the north exit of Jonan Ward Office intersection. They serve delicious oden, which seemed perfect for the season, although it might be a bit early in this warm weather. But who cares as long as the food is tasty, right? As usual, we started with a toast!
The oden assortment had 6 varieties, and despite the dark soy sauce color, it had a light taste typical of Kanto-style oden. It was not too heavy and seemed like you could eat as much as you want. The Iberico ham and tomato salad with wagyu tendon were delicious! It arrived hot and melting in the mouth, with a slightly sweet taste, making it a perfect match for drinks and rice.
The Satsuma-jidori chicken tataki, tamagoyaki, fresh spring rolls, and today's dried fish (which was horse mackerel) were all tasty. The Negimaya, with its rich flavor and slightly sweet seasoning, was also delicious. The meat was juicy and the green onions added a nice crunch.
We paired the meal with a bottle of Sanzenmori junmai sake, served in a bamboo cup, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. The oden chazuke, where oden broth is poured over tea rice, was light and easy to eat, although I felt it could use a bit more kick, perhaps with some ginger.
The restaurant has counter seats, regular tables, and tatami seating, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It seems like the type of place where you can have a nice chat with the staff while enjoying oden and hot sake. Overall, it was a delightful dining experience. But even after all that food and drinks, I still end up going for ramen afterwards.
