After fishing in the morning on the first day, we took a short drive and crossed the Shiretoko Pass to have morning ramen in Rausu Town. We went to "Shiretoko Shokudo 2nd Floor Restaurant" located at 361-1 Honcho, Rausu Town, Hokkaido, which also serves as a roadside station. I had the Rausu Konbu Ramen (850 yen), which had a clear and beautiful broth. It was topped with green onions, menma, aburaage, naruto, nori, chopped konbu, and other ingredients. The noodles were mixed with Rausu konbu, giving them a greenish color. The restaurant is located on the left side of the roadside station. The first floor houses the Shiretoko Shokudo, which is open for lunch, while the second floor restaurant was open from 8 am on the day we visited. The menu featured the popular Rausu Konbu Ramen as well as other tempting options like the Rausu local burger and seafood dishes. The interior had counter seats by the window and several table seats. Payment options included PayPay and credit cards. The Rausu Konbu Ramen I had was made with noodles mixed with Rausu konbu powder, and the broth had a rich umami flavor from the konbu. It was a gentle and delicious dish to start the day with. While many customers were enjoying seafood bowls, you can also enjoy the view of nearby islands like Kunashiri Island. Overall, it was a great choice for morning ramen in the Shiretoko area!

Visited for lunch on the first day of the three-day weekend. Despite it being a little before noon, there was a long line and we had to wait quite a bit. Ordered the seafood curry and black conger eel bowl. The seafood curry was delicious with plenty of seafood in it. The black conger eel was soft and easy to eat, even for children. Thank you for the meal.

(Hokkaido Part 8) The menu items in the photos all look delicious, making it difficult to decide. Since it wasn't quite mealtime yet, I was grateful for the option of a half-size seafood bowl. I also tried the ikura and salmon parent-child bowls in half sizes. The unique and delicious flavors really impressed me.

The location alone makes you naturally excited when you hear about the sea urchin in Rausu. It's a dream location for sea urchin lovers. I was impressed by the overflowing bowl and took a commemorative photo! Upon closer inspection, the mixture of firm and mushy parts in the sea urchin was a bit disappointing. The flavor was also not as rich as expected. On the other hand, the hokke fish was large in size and fatty, just as the reviews said, making you crave for some white rice. For your reference, the sea urchin bowl cost 4500 yen, while the regular size hokke was 1500 yen. Eating a sea urchin bowl at the Rausu Michi no Eki was a good way to create memories. Thank you for the meal.

When I went on a drive to Shiretoko, I stopped by a roadside station and tried the soft-serve ice cream they were selling. It was made using deep-sea water from Shiretoko, and you could faintly taste the saltiness, which made it really delicious. Eating soft-serve ice cream by the sea is truly a wonderful experience.

I stopped by on my solo touring trip to Shiretoko. I arrived before the opening at 8 am and there was already a line. It was cold, so the old man (the owner?) kindly served me some tororo konbu tea. I couldn't decide between the black hamo bowl and the uni ikura bowl, so I chose the latter. Well, there's no way it could taste bad, right? In the post-COVID era, it's good that they have a limit on the number of people entering the restaurant, but the line outside was getting crowded.

Before going on a cruise to see orcas in Rausu, we stopped by for lunch. The restaurant is located at a roadside station, so there is plenty of parking and the inside is very spacious, so there is usually no wait unless it's a major holiday. We ordered the famous half-sized Black Pike Conger bowl and the Tokishirazu salt-grilled fish, which was said to be in season. The Black Pike Conger bowl had a rich and tender meat with no fishy taste, and it paired perfectly with the sauce. It was so delicious that we couldn't stop eating. The Tokishirazu was fatty but not overpowering, with an elegant flavor, and it was very large. Being able to enjoy these seafood dishes while overlooking the expansive sea in front of us was a luxurious and delightful experience.

I challenged the most popular Rausu kombu ramen for 850 yen on my second visit to this trip, and also tried the salmon and ikura parent and child onigiri for 450 yen. The ramen soup was indeed made with kombu and bonito, bringing back nostalgic memories and tasting delicious. The onigiri was large, and I might have eaten too much. It was a happy lunch.

All of the dishes looked delicious, but we ordered the salmon and ikura bowl for two, as well as the black cod rice bowl. The salmon and ikura bowl had a truly amazing flavor. The black cod rice bowl was indeed soft and had a texture similar to eel, and it was delicious, reflecting the season. The modest approach of the local women was also interesting.

I visited around 8:30 on a regular day and was able to sit without waiting. Today, they had sea urchin, so I ordered the sea urchin and salmon roe bowl for 3800 yen. The salmon roe was really delicious, with a perfect balance of salt that made me think it was just taken out of the ocean. It must be difficult to enjoy this if it's not fresh. The rice was a bit hard for my liking, but for this price, I was very satisfied with the fresh salmon roe and sea urchin.

On a trip to Hokkaido, my travel companion with strong preferences chose a restaurant. After taking a sightseeing boat and crossing Shiretoko Pass, we arrived at Rausu Michi no Eki. If this were Tokyo, I would have definitely ordered a beer without hesitation, but since we were driving, I had to resist! Honestly, my number one sea urchin (uni) in life is from Chidori in Rebun Island! It's been over 20 years since I had the sea urchin bowl at Chidori, so I can't compare it directly. However, I could tell from the color of the sea urchin when it was served that it was going to be delicious. Chidori's sea urchin was the first time I ever thought sea urchin was delicious. Maybe it's just my long-standing image of Chidori, but it might not be able to compete with it. However, it became the second most delicious sea urchin I've ever had in my life. I really want to go back again!

In the eastern part of Hokkaido, this was the cheapest and most delicious place! In the middle of Shiretoko, there was naturally nothing, but there were plenty of shops at the edges. We missed the timing for lunch and it was already past 3 pm. There were only about two shops open, so we chose this one. The photos didn't look very appealing, so we didn't have high expectations, but it turned out to be beyond our imagination! They had sea urchin, tuna, scallops, and more, all in abundance. And all this for just 2000 yen! Such a great deal. Every piece of sushi was delicious and we left feeling very satisfied. I saw someone else order a rice bowl and it looked even better than the picture! If I were nearby, I would definitely treat myself to a meal here!

If the weather is nice, you can see Kunashiri Island from the roadside station in Shiretoko Peninsula. This shop is located on the second floor where a variety of seafood souvenirs are displayed. The first floor is also available but the second floor is open depending on the time. I couldn't decide among the various seafood bowl options, but I ordered the Uni and Crab Bowl for 3800 yen. There is also a half-size option, but I chose the regular size. The Uni and Crab Bowl was generously filled with uni and crab, making it look delicious even before eating. The uni melts in your mouth and the crab is thick and satisfying, making it so delicious that I couldn't help but focus on eating. The miso soup with scallops added to the satisfaction of the meal. By the way, at this roadside station, fresh crab, uni, and hokke are all reasonably priced, especially the hokke which is surprisingly large for its price. I highly recommend visiting this facility. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Thawing frozen sashimi is not done well. Ordered scallop and octopus sashimi in the port town of Rausu, at a roadside station, which was disappointing. The location with a view of the sea was nice, so I hope they do better. Next time I visit, I want to be able to taste the delicious seafood that Rausu is proud of.

When you come to Rausu, you should definitely try the Rausu Konbu Ramen. It's a salt-based ramen with delicious soup and green noodles that contain konbu but don't taste like it. The ikura don is also available, but I'm not a fan, so I just had a mini size. Drizzle some soy sauce on the ikura don and enjoy it with a spoon. Oh, the ikura is so delicious! I don't know when I'll be back, but I definitely want to eat here again.

From Shari to Shari through Rausu. I made a reservation for a nature cruise in the afternoon, so I had lunch here! I ordered a small bowl of black hamachi don. It seemed like they fried it in oil or the oil was quite old, as the oil became quite strong over time. As someone from Kansai, I couldn't help but reminisce about the hamachi from Awaji Island... It was just enough with the small size. My husband had the seafood curry, which was served in a generous portion. Thank you for the meal.

The temperature is 7 degrees, quite cold for touring on a bike. To warm up, I went to a dining hall and saw tourists enjoying a three-color bowl (salmon roe, sea urchin, crab) for 3800 yen. Each flavor can be enjoyed, so it feels like a good deal. I am also interested in trying the black hair crab bowl next time I visit.

- Ibaragani Curry: I really love the taste of the curry roux here! The richness, thickness, and spiciness are all on point. And it's packed with plenty of meat from the Ibaragani crab family! Even though the crab meat is quite flavorful on its own, it becomes even more delicious when combined with the flavor of the roux. - Mini Ramen (Soy Sauce): This was my first time trying ramen here. It's a simple soy sauce ramen, but surprisingly delicious with a solid base. Ordering it with curry was definitely the right choice. (*^^*) I haven't had a disappointing dish here yet. While it may not be the most budget-friendly due to being at a roadside station, this restaurant is more than enough to satisfy both your taste buds and stomach.

I thought about it carefully and honestly, and I believe it deserves a rating of 4.0. The amount of curry is just right. It's enough to go well with a generous portion of rice but leaves a little bit of curry leftover. It may seem small, but it actually made me happy. (˶ᐢᗜᐢ˶)

I stopped by a restaurant at the station on my way back, but it was already night and I couldn't visit. When I went up to the second floor of the building, the sunlight reflecting on the sea surface was shining in, and there was an open and spacious dining room. As a fan of salmon roe, I naturally chose the "salmon roe bowl". I poured myself some tea from the tea dispenser and looked out the window at the view, and then my order arrived. The bowl, filled with plenty of salmon roe, looked delicious from the start. It was already tasty to eat as it is, but perhaps because Rausu is a town known for salmon and kelp, I was surprised that it became even more delicious when I mixed the salmon flakes and kelp soy sauce provided together with wasabi! Thank you for the meal.
