In October 2022, I stayed at a hotel for the last time this year. I've always wanted to stay here because there is nothing around and this hotel seems to have a good view. When I went to the shop, I found water from Prince Hotel. They say it's water from Niigata and it's delicious. I skipped dinner, so I made a sandwich in my room with bread from a certain bakery, ham, cheese, and mayonnaise from the convenience store, and fried chicken from Hot Chef. When I turned off the lights in the room, I could see Lake Kussharo in the moonlight with a beautiful starry sky. The hot spring has a large open-air bath and a simple indoor bath. I like luxurious hot spring resorts like Tsuruga, but quiet hot spring hotels like this are also nice. It was a delicious water and coffee. Thank you for the meal.

I had a buffet at the main dining room, Lupeigne, at Lake Kutcharo Prince Hotel for 4400 yen. There were also options for individual dishes priced between 2000 and 3000 yen, but I chose the buffet because it had a wide variety of choices, including dishes made with local ingredients. The buffet area was quite spacious. I mainly chose dishes made with local ingredients and those that looked delicious. As expected, the quality was average and I thought the price was a bit high compared to the content, but I decided it was okay since it seemed difficult to find open restaurants in the area at night and I didn't have the energy to drive several kilometers in the dark. By the way, the hotel's shop only had cup noodles as a possible late-night snack option. Ratings for some of the dishes: Venison Stew with a Japanese twist (★5), Salmon Galibata Yaki with Creson Sauce from Tokachi (★6.5), Clam and Rockfish Aqua Pazza from Abashiri (★7), Roast Beef with Hokkaido Wasabi (★7), Gouda Cheese Melt with Homemade French Bread, Potatoes, and Cauliflower (★8), Chef's Recommended Beef Sinew Curry (★7.5), Authentic Sichuan Mapo Tofu with Tokachi Tofu (★7), Authentic Chinese Black Vinegar Sweet and Sour Pork with Yumenochi Pork from Hokkaido (★7), Authentic Chinese Shrimp and Egg in Chili Sauce (★7), Pork Shabu-Shabu with Yumenochi Pork from Hokkaido (★7.5), and Soft Serve Ice Cream (★7.5). The sashimi was so dried out that I had never seen anything like it before.

First of all, the entrance was interesting! There was a device that inflates the common vinyl gloves to make it easier to put your hands in. It was my first time seeing that - so interesting! I was very happy to see that they offered freshly baked bread! They bake the bread right in front of you in the oven and notify you when it's done. Since it was piping hot, I ended up eating too much bread... Additionally, they offered a tasting of three different local milks, and there was a "milk sommelier seat" where you could place three cups for comparison. It was interesting to taste and realize that all three milks had slightly different flavors. The milk tasting was a unique experience that you can only have in Hokkaido. They had a wide variety of options, and I was able to enjoy a luxurious breakfast with Genghis Khan curry from the morning (laughs). I had multiple servings of squid ink somen. The innovative ideas that I had never seen before left a lasting impression, and I had a lot of fun at the breakfast buffet. By the way, my family mentioned that the dinner buffet didn't have as many options. I was too tired from driving, so I skipped the dinner buffet and just slept... Thank you for the meal!

The variety of menu options has decreased, not just my appetite. I have been coming to this vacation spot for the past 15 years. In the past, there were three types of crab and freshly made sushi, making it difficult to choose from the wide selection of dishes. However, due to the impact of the coronavirus, this year's buffet has the fewest menu items ever. The raclette cheese has been replaced with Gouda, and the roast beef does not seem to be from Tokachi. Soft serve ice cream is also no longer available. The high ceiling and expansive glass floor still provide a pleasant atmosphere. It is summer vacation period, but it seems like the number of customers is only half of what it used to be. I will visit again.

I opted for the option to have breakfast outside. I went to the breakfast venue to pick up my breakfast set and a mat, then headed outside the hotel grounds. I could choose my favorite spot by Lake Kussharo. I avoided areas where other guests were walking and found a slightly secluded spot to lay out the mat and enjoy my breakfast. The set included bread, bacon, salami, potatoes, salad, fruits, soup in a hot jar, and coffee. The bread and side dishes were of hotel quality and delicious. After eating, I relaxed while drinking coffee. It was a bit cold, but I enjoyed the extraordinary experience that I don't usually have.

Normally, I would stay at Kawatabi Onsen when visiting Tokachi Town, but due to the Silver Week holiday, Kawatabi Onsen was fully booked and I couldn't make a reservation, so I reluctantly stayed at Prince Hotel with just accommodation. There are no dining options around Prince Hotel, so I had no choice but to go for the dinner buffet at Prince Hotel. After checking the reviews on Tabelog, there were mixed opinions, so I nervously visited the restaurant. To cut to the chase, it was a disappointment. For 4000 yen, I could have had a much better meal in Kawatabi or Tokachi Town. I was planning to have breakfast here tomorrow, but even convenience store food would be better in terms of cost-performance. I might just go for a meal at a nearby convenience store or cafe instead! Also, not related to food, but when I had some business at the front desk and tried calling, no one answered no matter how many times I called. What's up with that? Is Prince Hotel okay?

On the second night, we stayed at "Kushiro Prince Hotel". The hotel is located along Route 243, facing the southwest shore of Lake Kushiro. It is a very large hotel in this area, and you can see Lake Kushiro well from the rooms. Before check-in, we had already had dinner, so we just relaxed in the hot springs to heal the fatigue of our journey. The Kushiro Onsen is a sodium-calcium sulfate-chloride spring that springs from 1,000 meters underground. I'm not very familiar with hot springs, but it was a pleasant bath with carbon dioxide gas. The next morning, we had breakfast at the hotel's restaurant on the first floor. The restaurant had a high ceiling and an open atmosphere, with glass windows overlooking the hotel's garden and the natural surroundings of Lake Kushiro. We used masks and gloves for the buffet. The breakfast venue had plenty of staff and attentive service. As for the food, it was a very ordinary breakfast buffet. Recently, many business hotels actively incorporate local ingredients, but this place had fewer of those. The only distinctive feature was the "squid sashimi" available in the morning. Some items seemed to be using commercial food products as is, so it was a bit disappointing for a resort hotel. The most Hokkaido-like thing we felt was the deliciousness of the milk. This was completely different from what you would get at a regular business hotel, with a rich and unique taste. As a milk lover, I ended up getting seconds twice. The bill came to a difference of 1,900 yen between the room-only plan and the plan with breakfast included. Thank you for the meal!

I had breakfast at the restaurant "Lupine Neu" on the first floor. It was a buffet style with a mix of Japanese and Western dishes. Since it's in Hokkaido, there were a lot of seafood options. I started with some fresh squid sashimi. I also chose grilled salmon, spicy cod roe, grated yam, cold tofu, fermented soybeans, seaweed, miso soup with rice, and more. The miso soup had a fish broth base with onions in it, which was delicious. I believe the rice was Yumepirika.

There is a restaurant on the first floor. The ceiling is 10 meters high and it is glass-walled, offering views of a pond and greenery. It is a buffet-style restaurant with each dish neatly plated for easy serving. They also serve soup, rice, ramen, and more. The buffet includes dishes like Wagyu steak, hokke fish, tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp sashimi platter, potatoes, and Masyu soba. The Wagyu steak was fairly tender and the sashimi platter was decent, although the tuna color was not the best. I finished with ramen, choosing the miso flavor, which was similar to a certain instant ramen. For dessert, there were salted pudding and cheesecake, both delicious.

On the first day of my trip to Hokkaido, I stayed at Kushiro Prince Hotel. They have buffet for both dinner and breakfast. Well, it's all you can eat so there's nothing special, but I thought I should try something local. The most delicious thing I had was the Matsumae pickles (laughs). Thank you for the meal.

During the summer vacation, I went to Lake Kussharo in Hokkaido for a 2-night, 3-day trip. On the first day, I stayed at Kussharo Prince Hotel. I opted for a package that included two meals, so I had dinner at "Lupine" on the first floor. I started with a toast with a glass of draft beer, which was so refreshing after a hot day. There were various dishes available, including roast beef, and I couldn't help but overindulge. I also enjoyed a bottle of white wine Tokapu with my meal, which added to the fun evening.

I visited the Kushiro Wetlands, saw Lake Akanko, and even spotted Ezo deer on the road, enjoying a leisurely drive. By the time I arrived at the hotel, it was already evening. After checking in, I could see Lake Kussharo from my room. The hot spring had a greenish hue and warmed me to the core. Feeling hungry again after digesting lunch, I opted for the hotel's buffet since there were no nearby dining options. Being a Prince Hotel, it was a bit pricey, over 4,000 yen. The all-you-can-drink option was an additional 2,300 yen, which was just right after having three drinks. They served roast beef freshly cut in front of you and grilled hokke fish, along with a variety of dishes from Hokkaido delicacies to meat and Chinese cuisine. I tried Sapporo draft beer, local sake, curry, and even indulged in a generous serving of raclette cheese on steamed potatoes. Oh, I ate too much! Thank you for the delicious meal!

Due to certain circumstances, I couldn't have breakfast so I switched to lunch. Lunch was also buffet style. The standout dishes were minced meat and vegetable curry, soy sauce ramen with Rausu kelp dashi, and colorful potato chips with chocolate sauce (no photo). I think in terms of quality, it goes like "dinner > breakfast > lunch" so I would like to try dinner if I have the chance again.

Lake Akan Breakfast is also buffet style. In addition to the standard menu items such as scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, bread, rice, and pickles, it was nice to have sashimi, scallops, and squid as rice accompaniments. It was also great to be able to eat freshly baked hot sandwiches! Furthermore, I was happy to be able to compare three types of local milk! It's difficult to buy and drink various types of milk during a short sightseeing period, so it was very thoughtful. The buffet for both dinner and breakfast at such an affordable accommodation was quite nice!

While driving around Lake Kussharo, I found this inn with available rooms and decided to stay for the night. The location by the lake is great, and you can enjoy the Kussharo hot spring bath. They offer a buffet for breakfast and dinner, where I enjoyed Genghis Khan BBQ and hot raclette cheese over potatoes. Hokkaido is known for its delicious potatoes, and they were even better with the raclette cheese. I also loved the dairy-based desserts. Overall, it was a great experience!

I stayed at the Lake Kussharo Prince Hotel in June 2016 and had a great time. The hotel is located near the Tsu Betsu Pass, which offers a stunning view of Lake Kussharo at sunrise. I chose this hotel based on that recommendation. I didn't have dinner at the hotel, so I can only review the breakfast. The breakfast buffet was held in a spacious and open dining area, typical of a Prince Hotel. However, I don't have a strong impression of the breakfast. Despite waking up at 4 am, I unfortunately couldn't see the sunrise over Lake Kussharo from Tsu Betsu Pass.
