Rating: Delicious I enjoyed this bento box from "Gyuu Meshi Omi" on the Shinkansen train ride back from Shin-Osaka. It caught my eye right away and looked really appetizing, so I decided to buy it. Even though it had cooled down, the flavor of the Omi beef was still delicious. I had a relaxing trip back to Tokyo on the Kodama Green car from Shin-Osaka, so this actually ended up being my second bento box. (I eat a lot, haha)

After finishing work in Hyogo Prefecture, I headed east for an early check-in. Since I knew I wouldn't be able to have dinner upon arrival, I decided to get a satisfying station bento. Despite it being a weekday, the visually appealing options were selling out quickly due to it being dinner time. Among the choices, the oyster bento caught my eye with its large oysters lined up beautifully, so I bought it along with a beer. The oysters were big and delicious, complemented by scallops as well. The rice was moist and flavorful with the sauce. It was a great accompaniment to the beer. Delicious, thank you for the meal. I would definitely consider ordering it again.

This is a shop located inside the JR Shin-Osaka Station Shinkansen ticket gate. I stopped by before boarding the Shinkansen bound for Tokyo. They have a wide variety of station bento boxes to choose from. After some deliberation, I decided on the Kagoshima-style thick-cut black pork stew bento from Matsueiken for 1,180 yen (tax included). I enjoyed it on board the Nozomi train. The portion of meat was generous while the amount of rice was a bit on the smaller side. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I brought a cheesecake from Rikuro Ojisan's shop to my sister's house for dinner on the second day of my autumn trip to Osaka! We ate cake, drank beer, and relaxed until dinner time, but we ended up getting late, so we left in moderation. We bought dinner at this place inside Shin-Osaka Station and got on the Shinkansen. I wanted to eat Kakinoha sushi, but they only had it in packs of 8 or 10, which was too much, so I gave up. However, I found this one next to it from the same brand and bought it instead. It was a tightly packed grilled mackerel sushi wrapped in plastic wrap. It consisted of mackerel, pickled ginger, vinegared rice, kanpyo, and vinegared rice. Despite being tightly packed, it didn't have much unity, but the taste was great. Grilled mackerel and vinegared rice go well together. The combination of fatty mackerel and pickled ginger was also quite good. The train was not crowded, which was good, but the mackerel smell spread more than I expected, so I wouldn't recommend eating it on the train. It's on par with 551's pork buns. But it was a delicious pressed sushi! Thank you for the meal!

At Shin-Osaka Station, there is a shop where you can buy bento boxes and tea from JR Tokai Passengers. The "Naniwa Full" bento box costs 1,080 yen and is labeled as a Kansai limited edition. It features a design reminiscent of the Hanshin Tigers with black and yellow stripes, along with illustrations of takoyaki, kushikatsu, and Osaka Castle. The box includes items like beef skewers, pickled ginger tempura, sweet potato octopus, and takoyaki, allowing you to enjoy the flavors of "Naniwa." Additionally, it contains dumplings, shumai, and mitarashi dango. The "Tokaido Shinkansen Bento" costs 1,000 yen and features specialties from various areas along the Tokaido Shinkansen route, including dishes from Tokyo, Shizuoka, Nagoya, and Kansai. This bento box is elegantly packed with a variety of items, offering a refined taste experience.

I purchased a Makunouchi bento from Sasahachi inside Shin-Osaka Station for 1000 yen. It was a hurried purchase, so I didn't check the contents closely, but it was luxurious. It included shrimp tempura, potato salad, fried shiitake mushrooms and vegetables, rolled omelette, fish cake, pickled radish and carrot, grilled salted salmon on rice, sautéed burdock root with carrots, and plenty of beef sukiyaki-style. The flavors were well-balanced and delicious. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you for the meal.

As a Shinkansen fan, I have reached a poignant moment. The retirement of the Tokaido Shinkansen 700 series. The other day, I reported on the "700 series Shinkansen rice ball bento for 1,280 yen including tax." When I bought it, I was also curious about the Doctor Yellow that was in line with me. Last time, it was the 700 series that seemed to have a high degree of urgency. And this time, I will report on the bento of the fascinating yellow body, Doctor Yellow. The "923 series Doctor Yellow children's lunch for 1,280 yen including tax" is sold by a shop called "Sasayatsu," based at Tokyo Station's Gransta. It is sold at the "Delica Station" bento sales store run by "JR Tokai Passengers" inside the main stations of the Tokaido Shinkansen. Let's purchase it ↑ There it is, Doctor Yellow. The 700 series has been decorated with retirement specifications since the last purchase. This also increases the premium feel and stirs up the desire to purchase, but this time I will go for Doctor Yellow. ↑ By the way, there was also this bento for the retirement of the 700 series. It comes with a bonus item. But I find the charming bento box more attractive. Let's open it in the train! Let's eat! I will now take photos from various angles like a maniac. ↑ JR Tokai's orange logo. The details are exquisite. ↑ I will take it out of the cover and arrange it. Railroad fans should understand this. ↑ I also want to check around here. ↑ Let's open it, ↑ From the right, it appears. Hamburger, fried shrimp, fried chicken, potatoes, boiled egg, sausage ↑ Under the main dish corner, there is Napolitan omelet rice with a soft-boiled egg. Applause for the advancement in technology to serve a soft-boiled egg on a bento. ↑ In the sub-corner, there is potato salad, konnyaku jelly (orange), ketchup jelly. The ketchup jelly is embedded in the potato salad, but it is completely within the acceptable range. The ketchup goes into the pocket of my bag. ↑ After evacuating the ketchup and jelly, I also enjoyed the delicious potato salad in the crater. In conclusion, the contents are all things that children would enjoy. The container can be taken home and used as a bento box, a tool box, or even for decoration. Most people would buy it for the container itself. If you give this bento to a child during a journey, they would surely be delighted. It is said that the N700S train, which will debut on the Tokaido Shinkansen soon, is equipped with equipment to inspect tracks while running. If the operational vehicles can inspect tracks while running, the time for Doctor Yellow to retire may not be too far off. Amateur Shinkansen fans like myself think this way. If Doctor Yellow is gone, will this bento also disappear? Before that happens, I wanted to get this Doctor Yellow children's lunch. Thank you for the meal.

As a fan of the Shinkansen, I am witnessing a poignant moment with the retirement of the Tokaido Shinkansen 700 series. In the midst of this, I came across a striking bento box. The "700 Series Shinkansen Onigiri Bento for 1280 yen including tax" is of high quality, with a body that resembles the 700 series Shinkansen. It can be used for a long time if washed properly. As for the contents, I decided to use the 700 series bento box as a souvenir. This bento can only be purchased inside the gates at Shin-Osaka station, where JR Tokai's bento shop reigns supreme. I also saw the Doctor Yellow based on the N700 series. The N700 series will continue to be in service for a while, and I hope to report on it someday! I purchased the bento and boarded the Shinkansen. The N700 series with the large "A" mark is quite cool. I unfolded the table inside the train and placed the 700 series bento on it. I took photos from all angles like a maniac. Being a professional, I checked the ingredients in detail. I took out the bento from the cover and lined them up unnecessarily. The main players were bonito, two salmon onigiri, fried chicken, sausage, potato, shrimp fry, potato salad, and konjac jelly. The bento contained a variety of items that would make children happy while traveling. It's a safe choice for kids. After finishing the meal, the bento box would get dirty and smelly until I got home. It might be better to wash it during the trip if possible. The 700 series bento box is of high quality. I'm now eager to get the Doctor Yellow as well. My collector's instinct has been awakened. Thank you for the meal. After finishing work in Kansai, I transferred from the Shinkansen to the limited express Thunderbird at Shin-Osaka Station to go to Fukui to eat Echizen crab. My wife is planning to meet me in Kyoto. Shin-Osaka Station is surprisingly large and confusing because I don't use it often. I couldn't quite grasp the layout and during the transfer from the Shinkansen to the local train, I bought a bento box at a place that was selling them. I bought the Naniwa Gosen (1150 yen), which included skewered cutlets, takoyaki, octopus, grilled meat (under the carrots), and two types of mixed rice. It's a bento box that gathers Osaka specialties, basically a "makunouchi bento." I thought it would be nice to try a bento box like this for a change. Station bento boxes are definitely expensive! When compared to convenience store bento boxes...

Riding the Shinkansen and enjoying a bento box while watching the scenery is the best!! I don't usually have the chance to ride the Shinkansen since I usually drive. I just opened the Tokaido Shinkansen Bento Box that I bought at the Delica Station in Shin-Osaka Station. It cost 1,000 yen and has a variety of side dishes. It's not bad, but I can't help but compare it to the one I had earlier. The price might be a bit high at 1,000 yen, and there was no microwave heating service. The taste is decent.

New Osaka Station is indeed spacious. I couldn't find the bento box that warms up when you pull a string, which I wanted from my previous visit. Today, I decided to try the Makunouchi bento, which was a bit plain but I especially liked the tamagoyaki (Japanese omelette).

This is a shop located in the Osaka City, Shin-Osaka area. It is located inside the Shin-Osaka station concourse, right in front of the transfer ticket gate for conventional lines. This shop offers bento boxes inspired by Kansai cuisine and seasonal flavors. They have a wide variety of options for you to choose from. They also sell popular items such as mixed sandwiches and pork cutlet sandwiches. One recommended item is the "Tokaido Meat Feast" bento box priced at 1210 yen (tax included) and a 525ml bottle of Ayataka tea for 151 yen (tax included). This bento box is packed with a variety of meat dishes such as yakitori from Tokyo, miso katsu from Nagoya, and sukiyaki from Osaka. Each dish has its own section on a bed of rice. It's a satisfying and hearty bento box for those who have a hard time choosing just one type of meat dish.

Good morning! I visited Delica Station Shin-Osaka Concourse Transfer Store in Shin-Osaka Station while on a day trip to Nagoya. I bought a Pork Cutlet & Potato Sandwich and an Aroma Express Cafe au Lait for a total of 626 yen, but thanks to the morning special, I got a discount of 126 yen, making it a great deal for a total of 500 yen. I paid with my ICOCA card. The One Coin Morning service is available until 9 am.

Visited in February 2023. On the day of departure heading east, I browsed for something to eat at the Delica Station in Shin-Osaka Station before boarding the Shinkansen. Next to the Hakata yakitori bento that I had previously, I discovered another bento claiming to be a Hakata specialty!! Alright! I'll go with this today. So, I bought a beer and boarded the Shinkansen... When I popped open the beer with a "pshh," it felt like the izakaya Nozomi had opened. - Hakata Specialty Kashiwameshi I have had Kashiwameshi in Hakata before, but this style of Kashiwameshi was new to me. It was divided into zones with sweet and savory simmered chicken, shredded omelette, and seaweed, with pickled vegetables, sweet beans, and pickled ginger as side dishes. Let's dig in (*´人`*) As I tried it, I noticed that underneath each zone, there was a small amount of kashiwa mixed in with the rice, topped with the sweet and savory simmered chicken, shredded omelette, and seaweed. Since the rice also had seasoned chicken in it, it could be a decent beer snack. Not bad at all (@_@) It's different from Hakata's Kashiwameshi, and also different from Yoshino's Torimeshi in Oita. So, there are different varieties of Kashiwameshi like this too. When I did a bit of research to write this review, I found out that this Kashiwameshi has an original version. The original version is "Higashi-Chikken's Kashiwameshi, a specialty of Orio Station." Other than the side dishes being uguisu beans or kelp, it's almost the same (laughs). It's so similar, I wonder if it's okay? I'm a little worried (・_・) Well, it was delicious, so it's fine (laughs). Thank you.

Visited in January 2023. I returned to the eastern base and tried to find dinner at Shin-Osaka Station, but as expected, every restaurant was full with long lines, so I gave up. In the end, I bought a bento box from a bento shop inside the Shinkansen concourse. There were various bento boxes available, with prices ranging from 1000 to 1500 yen. After observing for a while, I noticed a popular bento that 3-4 people in a row were choosing. Here it is! - Yakitori Bento, a bento box for drinkers with Fukuoka's famous yakitori, priced below 1000 yen. When you open the wrapping paper, you'll find seasoned rice topped with thigh meat, chicken skin, tsukune, seseri (chicken neck), quail eggs, and pickled mustard greens. This is great! I'll enjoy it with a lemon sour from Izakaya Nozomi as soon as it opens! I sprinkle the attached tare sauce and shichimi on the yakitori and take a bite. Mmm, delicious! The yakitori has a great texture and depth of flavor, making it a perfect accompaniment to alcohol. The thigh meat, chicken skin, and seseri each have a distinct texture, giving a real yakitori experience. Even if there's some rice left over, it's flavorful on its own, so no problem finishing it. I found a great bento box! It's tasty and affordable, so it's definitely a contender for future visits to Izakaya Nozomi. Ah, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

Today I bought a Hirekatsu sandwich (6 slices) and a Tonchou. The description from the maker of the Hirekatsu sandwich said, "The soft Hirekatsu, specially baked bread, and sweet sauce come together to create a delicious harmony that fills your mouth." I agree with the harmony of flavors. The description from the maker of the Tonchou said, "We mix domestic glutinous rice with domestic soybeans, blend two types of kelp from a long-established kelp shop in Osaka, and sandwich them together to create a taste of rice, soybeans, and salted kelp. We add domestic umeboshi for color, adding an accent to the aroma and taste." The pleasant chewiness is delicious.

On Sunday evening, I came to Shin-Osaka Station to return to Tokyo. The station was the most crowded I've seen in recent years. I usually buy freshly made "551" as a souvenir in front of the ticket gate, but there was a long line so I gave up. I bought "Rikuro Ojisan's cheesecake" at the recently empty "Shinsaibashi Daimaru store" and it was a great choice. The Mitarashi dango from "Kihachisou Honpo" in Juso was sold out, but I managed to get the Danish cheesecake from "Kannon-ya" entrusted by my wife. I then went to buy my main bento. Of course, it was almost sold out. I bought the "Echizen kanimeshi" which I had never eaten before. By the way, I have almost conquered all the ekiben sold at Shin-Osaka Station. I opened it around Kyoto, and it was a bento box shaped like a crab. When I opened it, the whole thing was filled with crab meat. Since there was no soy sauce included, it seems like the crab meat was already seasoned. It was neither good nor bad, just okay. The taste left a slightly unsatisfied feeling, and there was no palate cleanser so it was just crab and rice. With abundant use of crab, it cost 1,300 yen, and considering the price of the ekiben at 1,300 yen, it felt like it was lacking. This time, I skipped the bento on both the way there and back. I will try a new product next time without being discouraged. Thank you for the meal♪

In the Shinkansen concourse of Shin-Osaka Station, there is a bento shop located in the center that handles the most variety of items. One of the new products that started selling in December 2020 is the Hiroshima-produced delicious oyster rice bowl priced at 1,280 yen. When I first saw it, I didn't have high expectations for the oysters in the bento, but I was surprised by this one! It contains quite large oysters, 5 in total, much bigger than I imagined, and they are plump and of excellent quality for bento oysters. There are also 3 regular-sized scallops with a sweet and savory seasoning. This bento is perfect to pair with sake. I recommend it for those who love oysters and scallops! Thank you for the meal.

On a certain night in October 2020, I bought a station bento box as a souvenir for my family and myself for dinner. It was a yakitori bento box for 920 yen, made by JR Tokai Passengers Co., Ltd. I purchased it at a direct store inside the Shinkansen. The yakitori was made with chicken that was juicy and delicious, with a sauce that complemented it well. It included chicken meatballs, green onions, and egg, as well as minced chicken on top of the rice. While yakitori usually pairs well with beer, in this case, it went really well with the rice. When it comes to station bento boxes, people tend to look for regional or seasonal specialties, but JR Tokai Passengers Co., Ltd. offers delicious bento boxes that are always tasty and cater to a wide range of tastes.
