I finished lunch late and didn't feel very hungry because it was quite filling, so I decided to go to "Bar agiyao" in Gojo for dinner. It's located just a short walk from Karasuma Gojo, on Higashinotoin Street. It's a sister restaurant to the Michelin-starred "agiyao" and specializes in fish and white wine. We started with a toast with sparkling wine and some prosciutto. The dishes we ordered included red snapper carpaccio, lobster broth risotto, and white wine by the glass. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, but the prices are a bit high for tapas. I would like to try their daytime drinking menu on the weekend.

★2023 Kyoto Trip★ When you unexpectedly find a shop while traveling that exceeds your imagination in deliciousness, it can make you so happy, right? This time, during my trip, I found a shop like that~ Definitely a must-visit on a Kyoto trip! On a day when I didn't have dinner plans, I stayed at a hotel nearby and found this shop while looking around. I was a bit unsure since it seemed like there was only a counter, but I decided to visit anyway. - Uni with saltwater and carrot puree - Lake Biwa natural eel and sweet potato fritters - Shrimp and fresh tomato capellini I visited alone, but they had a great selection of wines by the glass which made me very happy. I asked for recommended pairings with the dishes I was interested in. Well, everything I ate was delicious! Especially the capellini was definitely the best cold pasta I've had this year. In terms of portion size, I ordered 3 dishes plus an appetizer for myself, so it might be a bit on the smaller side for groups of 2 or more? It's a plus for me as I often dine alone though...! I'm happy to have found a shop that I definitely want to visit when I'm in Kyoto! Will definitely be revisiting~ (*'ω'*)

To Agiyao-san, a bus within walking distance from Subway Gojo Station. This is a bar in the Agiyao series known for delicious seafood. The counter seats were full and the tables were almost full, bustling with customers. It's popular, so it's better to make a reservation in advance. The dishes we had were: - Complimentary snack (senbei) - Char and limpet aquapazza (??? yen) - Warm nanban pickled isaki and yellow chives (1980 yen) - Flower crab and kujo green onion in cream sauce (2200 yen) We also had a bit of alcohol for two people. The chef is cooking alone, so the service took a long time. We wanted to try more dishes, but because it was slower than expected, we gave up on ordering more. Also, the young staff seemed inexperienced. The fact that the chef was also helping in the hall may have contributed to the slow service. I think there is room for improvement in the environment. The dishes and wine are mostly priced between 2000-2500 yen per item. Wine is also over 1000 yen per glass. It's not a bar where you can enjoy reasonably. The prices for both the food and wine are a bit high. It's not a bad place to spend time leisurely sipping wine, but I would like the dishes to be served a little faster.

Eating and drinking at the counter is enjoyable as you can see the kitchen. The chef's carefully crafted dishes are all delicious and I will definitely come back. The Managatsuo I had was really good. The Gobou-based aioli was also a memorable flavor.

The atmosphere was dark and very nice. The portion sizes were a bit small overall. The appetizer, a manju, was difficult to eat as it stuck to the lips. Wine is the main drink, so ordering other beverages may take some time. This restaurant mainly focuses on fish dishes, but the flavors were a bit bland overall. I personally like mild flavors, so I was satisfied, but it may not be filling enough for men. Not recommended for those looking for a quick meal as the waiting time is long.

The appearance of the restaurant was a bit hard to notice, I passed by it once. The appetizer, which was like a taiyaki, was cute but I could sense a slight fishy smell in the vinegar-marinated sardines. The rosemary-flavored potato dish was delicious, with the option to sprinkle the seasoning yourself enhancing the flavor of the potatoes. They offer a variety of white wines in glasses. The hairy crab scrambled eggs had a slightly fishy smell. The fried white fish roe and rapeseed blossoms had no unpleasant odor. The soup paella I ordered at the end was the most delicious, so I recommend trying it. The service overall was a bit slow, and sometimes orders were forgotten, so it's better to check if it's taking too long. I think it's a good restaurant for a date. Thank you for the meal!

A cozy restaurant that is easy for solo diners to enjoy. The recommended dishes were all delicious, made with seasonal ingredients that stimulate the senses. The soup paella was amazing! The bouillabaisse was so flavorful that you could just keep sipping on it. I highly recommend trying it. They offer a variety of fruit liqueurs that you can enjoy while savoring your meal. It's a wonderful place where you can relax with a drink or enjoy it alongside your meal.

Today's mood is Italian, so I searched for a bar and chose this one with white wine and fish dishes. It's not as casual as a bar, more like a place to quietly enjoy the food, wine, and conversation. The smoked sardine potato salad, whitebait and rapeseed cheese fritters, oil-based sauce with wakame for the cherry trout fujilli, and the wide selection of white wines were all delicious, with carefully selected ingredients. It's right near Gojo Station. It's good for dining alone, as a couple, or with a few people.

Mr. Agiyao, I have visited your previous restaurant several times. It must have been over 10 years ago. Since then, I have always admired your sense of seafood cuisine, and it was a favorite spot of mine. I especially loved the smoked watercress that came out first. This time, I experienced your Italian dishes in a course menu. Each dish showed a strong personality and dedication to the ingredients, and they were all delicious. The prices are reasonable, so I believe this place will become quite popular. One issue from before is that it takes a bit of time for the food to come out. As someone who doesn't drink alcohol, it can feel a bit slow, but for wine lovers, it might not be a problem. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Everything was delicious. The puffer fish fritters and eel ajillo were especially tasty. The chef was also very friendly and easy to talk to, making it a great dining experience. I will definitely visit this restaurant again when I go to Kyoto.

This time, I visited "Bar agiyao" near Gojo Station on the Kyoto Subway. I used Google Maps to find the place, but it looked like a shot bar and I got a little lost. The food was delicious, but the operation seemed a bit off since the recent renovation. The manager was very friendly, and the atmosphere and food were good, so it was a bit disappointing. I hope for better next time, and I will visit again!

It was delicious, but there was only one chef working in a nearly full restaurant with about 20 people. They suggested skipping the appetizers to speed things up, but I declined. The chef was also working the register, and the only other staff member was just delivering food. It felt greedy to try to accommodate such a large number of customers without hiring additional help. Other places are being more cautious with the number of customers they allow in. If they had just informed us of the wait time, we could have made a decision, or if they had offered a small dish as a gesture of goodwill, it would have eased the frustration. While waiting, I started to feel full emotionally, as I could see everything happening at the counter and noticed that the food wasn't being prepared. They were being greedy and had poor organization! It was a special time with a dear friend, but it was very disappointing.

I visited this restaurant alone during my trip. I had made a reservation beforehand. I was delighted to find that they serve Gewürztraminer as a glass of wine. They offer a variety of wines, including some rare ones, by the glass, which is perfect for those who can't drink much or for solo diners like me. The food was amazing, from the appetizers to the main course. I consulted with the chef about the menu and enjoyed every dish. The chef handled everything by himself, which was impressive, but what really stood out was the assistant staff who provided top-notch service. Their interaction with the chef was also entertaining to watch!

White wine and fish bar here. I've been curious about this place for a while since I love fish, and finally visited this time. Made a reservation through Tabelog. What we had: Champagne x2, various white wines (by the glass), appetizer, fish-filled manju, Hokkaido Akkeshi oysters, cherry shrimp and Kaga lotus root ajillo, Pacific saury and ginger green salad, Lake Biwa wild eel charcoal-grilled, white sea bream fish and chips, Koppie crab and Kujo green onion cream-based penne, shirako and shiitake cheese bake, homemade panna cotta, coffee. You can truly enjoy a variety of fish dishes here. From appetizers to charcoal-grilled, simmered dishes, and short pasta, there are various cooking methods. Also, there is a wide selection of white wines to pair with the dishes. It may be a bit pricey, but ordering by the glass allows you to taste a variety and enjoy it. The staff consists of about three people, but the chef handles all the cooking, so the service is a bit slow, but it's within a reasonable wait time while enjoying wine. The fish and chips change depending on the ingredients, and on this day, it was white sea bream. The crispy fried white sea bream was served on top of potatoes. Squeeze some lemon and eat it with tartar sauce, and the wine goes well with it. The potatoes were also delicious and fluffy. They are open from 2 pm on weekends, so I would like to challenge daytime drinking next time.

I made a reservation and then visited. I'm glad I made a reservation. It was almost full on Wednesday at 7 PM. I started with uni bruschetta and beer, then switched to white wine. I was in heaven with the carpaccio and nanbanzuke, and finished with aqua pazza. I want to soak in the broth of aqua pazza... I ordered some bread, soaked it in the broth, and took a bite. Yes, it's a winner, and even the air tastes delicious. They explain very carefully about dishes that go well with wine or the characteristics of the dishes, even though they are busy. They also recommend nearby restaurants. The hospitality is top-notch. Kyoto nights are the best.

I wanted to visit a stylish, dimly lit, cozy little restaurant. I really liked the atmosphere. Even on a Sunday night, the place was packed with customers. We started with the red snapper carpaccio and the sea urchin bruschetta. The bruschetta was so delicious that we ended up ordering more. I also really enjoyed the Anago fish and chips from Densuke. The aqua pazza I had high hopes for could have had more ingredients in it, in my opinion. Unfortunately, they were out of the prosciutto and oysters. It's understandable for a Sunday though. The service was a bit slow overall, and the portion sizes were a bit small. So, in terms of value for money, it was a bit on the lower side. But the food is tasty. I don't drink alcohol, but my companion enjoyed the wine. When these types of restaurants are open late, it makes me want to live in the neighborhood.

I noticed that you were having a daytime drink as I passed by, so I decided to visit after a long time! I know it can be a bit tough to handle things alone during the day, but you were very polite and attentive. The appetizer of taiyaki with marinated filling had a touch of Kyoto vibes... The recommended dishes were the bagna cauda and the uni and carrot potage, and the must-try was the paella! You can really taste the crustacean essence in it, and if you like Americaine sauce, this is a must-try! ✨

I finally visited the restaurant Agiyao that I had been curious about for a long time. My senses always told me that it must be delicious whenever I passed by the place or saw it on social media. Despite it being my first visit, they kindly accommodated my request for a course menu with wine pairing. I appreciate their flexibility. The dishes were made with fresh seafood sourced from all over the country, and the menu changes daily based on the ingredients available. I was truly impressed by the chef's skills. From start to finish, I had a wonderful time enjoying delicious food and wine. The atmosphere was also very cozy, and I will definitely be returning.

Western-style arrangements of fish dishes. Anko liver with marmalade, fresh oysters with olive oil, charcoal-grilled eel with cheese, and sea urchin paired with tomatoes for bruschetta. All the fish dishes are delicious! I wonder if they source their ingredients in collaboration with a Michelin-starred restaurant. The unique flavor pairings are perfectly complemented by the wine selected by the chef. However, sometimes I feel like I want to enjoy the usual Japanese-style dishes. I will definitely visit again when I'm in the area.

~Seafood Bar~ The monaka that came out as an appetizer is cute in the shape of a fish. I recommend pairing it with wine for those who love wine. You will definitely get hooked on the marriage of wine and food. Everything is delicious (^ ^)

The prices are high, but the taste is lacking. The smoked shirako has a fishy smell. Only one dish was served after waiting for 30 minutes. After an hour of waiting, the first three dishes ordered were finally served. Prices are excluding tax: Seared tachiuo with olive caper marinade for 1680 yen, Homemade smoked shirako for 1580 yen, and Mackerel fry with bravas sauce for 1580 yen.
