I finally went to the Toyohira Gorge Onsen that I had always wanted to visit. A friend had recommended it to me before, saying that the hot springs and curry were both amazing! When I arrived, I was hungry so I decided to eat before going to the hot springs. The menu had soba and Genghis Khan in addition to curry, but when I went (around 3 pm), it seemed like only curry was available for order. I ordered the Chicken Makhani curry (spiciness level 4), which has chicken in a tomato base. You can choose the spiciness level from 1 to 5. My husband ordered the Lamb curry. All curries come with a plain naan. We chose a table by a large window where we could see the waterfall flowing from the hot springs. It's a self-service restaurant, so you have to pour your own water. When the food is ready, they call out your number. We were called pretty quickly, and went to the counter to pick up our food. The Chicken Makhani curry had a nice tangy tomato flavor. I chose level 4 spiciness, which was just right. The naan was soft and chewy with a crispy underside, very delicious. The Lamb curry had a unique flavor with the taste of lamb spreading through, quite spicy even though it was also level 4. The chunks of lamb were tender and tasty. We were full and headed to the hot springs. It was a day trip but we were completely satisfied.

I visited a restaurant on the way back from a facility tour of the Toyohira-kyo Dam with the youth section of a industry association. There were various types of curry available, but I chose the chicken masala. I opted for medium spiciness, but it could have been even spicier. The naan bread was the best I've ever had. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I tried the collagen-infused Keema Curry with a spiciness level of 3, which is limited in quantity. The naan was fluffy with a hint of sweetness. The charm of this place lies in the authentic feel of the kitchen staff (many foreigners), their energy and kindness (they offered to adjust the spice level to mild if needed), and the wild scenery of the garden. I arrived in the morning by the hot spring shuttle from Makomanai, first sweating in the hot spring, then sweating more with the Indian curry, and finally detoxing by soaking in the hot spring again. I will definitely go back!

ONSEN Dining at Toyohiragawa Onsen. Set of Keema Curry and Naan. The curry has a refreshing taste and is easy to eat. The minced meat is tender and has a nice texture. The aroma of spices is strong, making you gradually sweat. However, the spiciness is moderate, so it might be good for those who prefer a spicier taste. The Naan is extra large in size, providing a satisfying chewy texture. It does not have a strong butter flavor, allowing you to enjoy the curry without interference. Crispy and chewy.

This time, I arrived here around noon on the Kappa Liner bus. I came here with the purpose of having curry for lunch. The curry here has 5 levels of spiciness, adjusted to suit Japanese tastes, so I went with the spiciest level, "extremely spicy." I wish it was a bit spicier, but overall, the curry and naan were as delicious as rumored. The hot spring quality and facilities were also fantastic, making me satisfied. #ONSEN Dining #Chicken Curry 1000 yen #Toyohira Gorge Hot Springs #Bathing fee 1000 yen

I arrived at the restaurant around 1:30 PM. There was one group of customers before me and 5 groups after me. A kitchen car from Kikusui Arks was there, so I decided to buy something from it. I actually wanted to go to a shop in Toyohira Gorge Onsen, but it was far, so I settled for the kitchen car instead. At the shop, I really wanted to try the custard cream naan, but they only had 5 servings available as a limited edition. The custard cream naan (480 yen) arrived in about 5 minutes. It was freshly made and piping hot, with 4 pieces in the order. They even provided a wet towel. The custard cream was creamy and sweet, with a strong egg flavor. The naan was soft and thin, which paired really well with the custard. I was initially unsure about having a dessert-style naan without curry, but it turned out to be really delicious. Even though Sapporo was over 30 degrees Celsius that day, there were still many people coming to buy curry, which surprised me. Next time, when I have more time, I will go to the hot springs and try the authentic curry there. After writing this review, I really crave that delicious naan. It was that good!

When you come to Hokkaido, be sure to visit the hot springs in Toyohirakyo. I like it when it's snowy. I soaked for a long time, enjoying the famous lunch. It seems like the prices went up and the soba changed. Oh, I don't like curry, but the keema curry here is really delicious. You can choose the level of spiciness, so it's safe. I love the freshly baked naan. #HokkaidoGourmet

◆Fragrant Chicken Curry @ 1100 yen (Spiciness level: Spicy) ◆An Butter Naan (2 pieces) @ 420 yen 【Hokkaido】Gogatsu Fujisawa, you're incredible! I first found out about her from a news article online. Wait, isn't she that curling player? I searched for curling videos to compare. Wow, she's amazing. When top athletes are determined, they go out and get results. Her body, the muscles from training and the diet discipline, it's crazy how much effort she puts in to not lose to herself. This year seems like it will be a historic leap for the fitness industry. ●Fragrant Chicken Curry 3.5 The Fragrant Chicken Curry is delicious in a normal way. The standout is definitely the Naan. It's huge in size and both the texture and taste are really good. **Ratings are based on the curry category**

I was excited to finally try the food from the kitchen car that often comes to the supermarket near my house. The naan bread, which was about twice the size of my face, stood out the most! The taste was also amazing! (*^^*)

Around 14:00, the restaurant was almost full. By 15:00, most people had finished eating and were heading to the baths. I chose the Coconut Chicken Curry with Naan for ¥1200. I selected medium spiciness, but it was surprisingly spicy! After finishing, my lips tingled a bit. The sweetness and creaminess of the coconut, along with the tender large pieces of chicken, were delicious. The Naan was more than twice the size of my face! It was thin, not crispy, but rather chewy. The slightly sweet dough paired perfectly with the curry. I also ordered the Haskap Cream Cheese Naan for ¥500. The variety of Naan options here is impressive! However, you cannot change the Naan in the curry set, so you need to order Naan separately. I tried the unique Haskap Cream Cheese Naan, which had a sweet and sour Haskap jam and creamy cheese that complemented the chewy Naan. Surprisingly, the fruity flavors paired well with the curry.

This day was quite crowded, but we were seated within about 10 minutes. The Genghis Khan here is absolutely delicious. I have come back many times just for it. I decided to try the curry that is rumored to be delicious, but honestly, it's not worth coming here just for that. The Genghis Khan is the best choice. The meat is tender and has no strong taste. Ever since I discovered this place, I can't enjoy any other Genghis Khan as much. I've been to all the famous Genghis Khan restaurants in Sapporo, but they all fell short. The service is also excellent, with a staff member who speaks English fluently, making you feel like you're in a restaurant inside a hot spring.

My favorite Indian curry restaurant in Sapporo. The naan bread is delicious!! It's crispy and chewy! I also recommend the haskap lassi. It's sweet and sour, refreshing your mouth after the curry. The curry aroma really sticks, so I recommend going to a hot spring after eating curry.

Dining in the restaurant inside the building of Toyohiragawa Onsen. Having a drink after soaking in the hot spring. It seems to be run by Indians, as most of the kitchen staff look like Indians. You order at the hot spring counter, and when it's ready, you pick it up at the restaurant counter in a self-service style. I had a draft beer and edamame. The edamame was just cooked, with steam rising. It was slightly overcooked. The pickles were a surprise with a large portion and delicious. The french fries were surprisingly good quality. I asked for extra butter, which was given for free. The spare ribs were spicy and delicious. Keema curry with naan. The naan was really delicious, with the filling of dumplings. It was okay. The buckwheat soba noodles were made with 100% buckwheat and had a nice texture and taste.

Anbata Nan was the best! This restaurant is located inside the Toyohirakyo Onsen facility. Upon arrival, you have the choice of going for a meal or taking a bath first. We decided to go for the meal first. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we were seated. Inside the restaurant, there were many people eating curry, and some were even having Genghis Khan. My partner had soba, and I tried a bit too, which was also good. We also had the 3 curry set. It was difficult to choose from the menu, but we ended up ordering the variety set with nan. The nan was very soft and delicious. Among many unique nans, I was drawn to the Anbata Nan. It turned out to be a great choice! It was a little greasy, but still worth trying. For dessert, it was the best. Thank you for the meal.

Sapporo Jozankei Onsen is about a 6-minute drive away, and we visited the Toyo Hira Kyo Onsen for lunch at a restaurant there. I had the Indian curry, which is famous in Jozankei. In July 2022, the Shogi player Fujii Souta Ryuo chose this curry as his "meal of battle," which created quite a buzz. He had the shrimp curry. At the entrance, you choose your menu and pay first. There were about 8-10 groups ahead of us, so we had enough time to decide, but I was still indecisive until the last minute. There were over 10 types of curry, each served with plain naan. There were also naan-only options, with about 8 varieties available. I wanted to try the cheese naan, but I resisted on that day. The spiciness levels ranged from "1" for kids to "5" for very spicy. There were also individual items like Tandoori chicken. With so many choices, I couldn't decide on just the curry, I also wanted to try the chicken! And on top of that, they even had soba noodles, both cold and hot, with a lineup as extensive as a soba restaurant, and they even had Genghis Khan. I finally decided on the "Aromatic Chicken Curry" with a huge naan. The chicken pieces were big and tender, with a soothing herb-like aroma and spiciness, making it very satisfying. The oversized naan, slightly sweet and chewy, complemented the spicy curry perfectly. Initially, I was worried about finishing it, but I devoured it all in no time. My husband had the "Chicken Makhaniwala," which had Tandoori chicken in the curry. I tried a bite, and it had a rich and deep flavor, different from the Aromatic Chicken Curry. Overall, it was a great lunchtime experience. The restaurant may have a line on weekends during lunchtime, but the seating inside is sufficient, so the wait time is not too long. I would like to visit again and enjoy the curry along with the hot springs next time.

I went on a trip to Sapporo and visited the Toyohira Gorge Onsen. The highlight of this trip was my long-awaited visit to the curry at Toyohira Gorge Onsen, which I had been dreaming of for over 10 years. It takes 70 minutes by bus from Sapporo, making it a full-day trip, which can be challenging for non-Hokkaido locals or travelers from other prefectures. I originally learned about this place from a local Hokkaido TV show called Hanatare NAX, where TEAM NACS visited during a shoot. I took the Kappa Liner to get to Toyohira Gorge Onsen. Despite it being a weekday, the bus was so popular that it was full, and most passengers got off at Toyohira Gorge Onsen. Upon arrival, there were separate lines for meals and hot springs at the entrance. When I arrived, it was already crowded with a long line. It seems that at peak times, the line extends outside the building. The popularity of Toyohira Gorge Onsen was beyond my imagination. The turnover is fast, so you can eat without worry. Rest assured. I simply ordered the popular No. 1 Chicken Curry here. The naan was delicious, and the view was great. The exterior may have some age, but the facilities are well-maintained and clean. However, the overwhelming presence of the "brother in charge of everything" blew everything else away. A young man (manager? owner?) was managing the line, providing guidance, and handling facility issues. Who are you, really? Your high-level customer service skills were impressive. Of course, he also handled English with ease, even making foreign customers laugh. Seriously, his customer service was top-notch. His thoughtful and hospitable approach was truly wonderful. Just listening to him interact with customers, his kindness was so touching that it brought tears to my eyes. Overall, the staff were fantastic, and I was truly impressed. It's no wonder that Toyohira Gorge Onsen is so popular. The baths were also amazing. It may be a bit challenging for those from other prefectures, but I highly recommend visiting.

Recently, there has been an increase in hot spring facilities. Many of them also have delicious food. This place might be the ultimate combination of a hot spring facility and a restaurant. In 2020, before the pandemic, this hot spring facility was ranked 3rd in the nationwide day trip hot spring ranking by TripAdvisor. The outdoor bath is large and the view is beautiful - it's very relaxing. The reason why they have an Indian restaurant is because the president of this hot spring facility used to run an Indian restaurant in Sapporo. So, he brought in a chef to start serving Indian cuisine here, which quickly became popular. People are drawn to the hot springs after all. The curry at the day trip hot spring is amazing, and they even have soba for the elderly and activities for children, making it popular for everyone. I ordered the Kasuri Meti Chicken Curry for 1,100 yen. It has a nostalgic flavor with the aroma of Kasuri Meti spices. It was 3:30 pm on a weekday, and it was full due to the autumn foliage season, with a waitlist of 4 groups. You can choose the level of spiciness, and I chose the second lowest, so it wasn't too spicy. The lowest level is suitable for children. It's great that families can enjoy Indian cuisine here without worry. The naan bread looks huge, but it's actually very thin. There are many types of naan that I would like to try. The total bill was 1,100 yen (cash, paid in advance). Thank you for the meal! ✨

I stopped by for lunch. Today, I decided to switch from curry to soba. Surprisingly, the place was full! I had to wait a bit, but since I was dining alone, I was quickly seated at the counter in the tatami room. I ordered the large portion of bucket soba for 950 yen. The soba itself was delicious. However, I found the dipping sauce to be a bit sweet. It somehow made me feel a bit tired of it due to the sweetness. I wonder if the warm soba or the cold soba are also sweet. Instead of being thick or thin, the sweetness was what caught my attention. The soba itself was excellent. I've decided that I will definitely come back again.

I finally went there because it was recently featured on TV and caught my interest. The spicy curry and the unexpectedly large naan were impressive for around 1000 yen. The cost performance is quite good. Next time, I definitely want to try it with a hot spring as well.

It's been a while since I last visited Toyohiragawa. I often use the Tandoor boat, but I don't come to this restaurant very often. Today, I only used it for meals without using the hot springs. It's a weekday, but it's still crowded - there are already about 6 groups waiting. I ordered two chicken curries, one pork curry, an extra naan, and a cheese naan. I ended up getting 5 naans in total - I was a bit greedy... The curry here is really delicious! The naan has two textures to enjoy - crispy parts and chewy parts. I prefer the chewy parts. The cheese naan is filled with lots of gooey cheese! It's great even without curry. It was a very satisfying lunch! Thank you for the meal.
