Today, I decided to start the night at an izakaya in Nishinari. It's still early, around 3 PM, so it's definitely a pre-drinking session before the main event at 7 PM. Starting off in Minami, I stopped by Unagi Danisan. I entered the restaurant a little after 3 PM, with only two other customers already seated. A friendly female server welcomed me and I took a seat at the counter to begin my journey. Since I plan to visit a few more places, I ordered some light dishes and drinks. Here's what I had: [Food] - Appetizer: 380 yen - Tuna sushi: 480 yen - Tempura corn: 580 yen [Drinks] - Draft beer: 380 yen - Hanatomoe NEW Haireishu (fire-heated sake): 480 yen - Tobi Ishizumi Maruhi Sukkarin (sweet and sour sake): 480 yen - Appetizer: It consisted of high-quality tofu, shiitake mushrooms, and shishito peppers simmered in a flavorful broth. The portion was quite generous. - Tuna sushi: Made with skipjack tuna, it was decent. - Hanatomoe NEW Haireishu: I chose this sake to pair with the appetizer and tuna. It had a yogurt-like flavor with a light yet flavorful taste. It was quite enjoyable. - Tempura corn: Wow! The presentation was impressive and the portion was larger than expected. The crispy batter, sweet corn, and a filling similar to surimi inside made for a delightful combination. The batter seemed to have a soy sauce flavor to it, which enhanced the overall taste. - Tobi Ishizumi Maruhi Sukkarin: I paired this sake with the tempura corn. It had a sweet and sour taste reminiscent of German wine, which complemented the sweetness of the corn perfectly. I had a great time during my solo pre-drinking session. During my first visit here, I didn't make a reservation but managed to walk in. It's a standing bar, but they also have seating if you reserve in advance. I started standing, but then moved to a seat when one became available. The atmosphere is lively and nice! It's a sake bar, but my companion had already had some sake, so I just had an eel bowl and eel roll. I also had a beer and a highball. I'll try the sake next time.

It's been a while since I last visited this place, which used to be close to my workplace. I remember getting overwhelmed by the variety of sake options last time I was here, standing in front of the fridge trying to decide which one to choose. I recommend pairing it with "goroika"!

I visited the restaurant without a reservation and started with a draft beer at the standing counter. I enjoyed some appetizers like horse sashimi yukke and plum jelly along with sake. This place offers a wide variety of sake brands and all the dishes are delicious, making the drinks go down smoothly.

I visited a quirky shop called "Nihonshu Unagidan" which specializes in Japanese sake and eel. It's located in a narrow alley, so it takes some courage to go there. However, the inside of the shop is surprisingly spacious and clean. It's the type of place where you can choose your favorite sake from the refrigerator. Since I'm not very knowledgeable about sake, I ordered a set of three different sakes a few times. They also choose for you based on your preferences if you let them know. I didn't really eat much, but I think it would be enjoyable to go with someone who loves sake. The hidden gem vibe of this place is also nice, right? There were also foreigners there. It was delicious! I will definitely go back again!

I went bar hopping with my partner in Minami♪ The fifth place we visited was a standing bar that boasts "100 types of sake available at all times," and you can also sit down and relax♪ On some days, they have attractive sakes like Juyondai and Imadaikin. After attending an event at Ardberg, I stopped by this place and although I didn't drink much, the eel roll was a must-try. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was nice, the staff were friendly, and I had a pleasant experience. I would like to visit this restaurant again. The prices are a bit on the higher side, probably due to its location in Minami.
