During my Obon holiday trip, instead of buying a station bento on the Shinkansen, I purchased a Tamago sandwich from Mikazukiya and enjoyed it in the train. A friend recommended it to me, saying it was delicious, and I found it to be addictive in taste with a good portion size. I have been a repeat customer every time I go back home for the holidays.

I decided to visit "Mikazukiya" on a whim that day.
◇Exterior and Interior
This sandwich shop is located in "Ippin Street" within JR Hakata City, a large commercial facility directly connected to JR Hakata Station in Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City. I confirmed that they used to serve pork cutlet sandwiches until the end of last year, but I wonder if they changed it from the new year.
◇Seating: Not available.
◇Menu Structure
Various sandwiches are available. I ordered the following:
- Special Egg Sandwich (650 yen, tax included)
I originally planned to have a pork cutlet sandwich as a snack on the way, but there was an unexpected change. It's a competitive area, so it can't be helped. The visual presentation is impressive, with an overwhelming amount of egg overflowing from the bread. Even the packaging doesn't fall short of creating a sense of branding. In terms of taste, it's a sandwich that lives up to its price. It has a satisfying amount, suitable for sharing among multiple people. The bread is a soft type of sandwich bread, but personally, I think it would be even more delicious if reheated to a crispy texture.
◆Strong Points
Not just croissants!
◆Service
Average.
◆Conclusion
It's good as a souvenir, but also suitable for a meal. Alright, onto the next one! Thank you for the meal.笑

Overall, this is a review of the shop "Mikazukiya" located on Ippin Street at Hakata Station, not the croissant shop. They sell various sandwiches, with their specialty seeming to be the egg sandwich. I chose one with potato salad and egg sandwich inside. The sandwiches were delicious overall, but the egg sandwich was particularly tasty. The quality of the eggs was good. Next time, I would like to try ordering just the egg sandwich. Thank you for the meal.

There is a tonkatsu sandwich shop in front of the Shinkansen ticket gate. It is relatively easy to access when rushing to catch the Shinkansen due to a flight cancellation. I ordered the spicy tomato tonkatsu sandwich. The sandwich, which was carefully wrapped, had a good amount of filling. It had plenty of lettuce, making the guilt feel low. The tonkatsu sandwich I ate had a crispy texture and was delicious. The spicy tomato sauce also complemented the tonkatsu well.

After finishing my business in Hakata, I headed to Kyoto. Thanks to travel support, Hakata Station was very crowded. There was a 30-minute line to purchase Shinkansen tickets, so even though I had planned to get unreserved seats, I decided to go for reserved seats due to time constraints. Just before Shin-Kobe, I ate the katsu sandwich I bought at Hakata Station. The katsu sandwich made with Kyushu brand pork looked delicious, and the egg sandwich also seemed tempting, but it couldn't beat the charm of the tonkatsu. I wished my wife was with me so we could share it. Looking inside, I understood that there was no mix of tonkatsu and egg sandwich. The tonkatsu was coated with shredded cabbage and a sauce with an aurora-like color. The cabbage was like coleslaw. The crustless sandwich bread was moist. The tonkatsu had a good bite, with the high-quality fibers of the pork meat easily coming apart. It had no peculiar taste, only the deliciousness of the pork meat. This is really good pork. The shredded cabbage was crisp, creating a nice contrast with the texture of the crust. Overall, the sandwich was moist. The bread, tonkatsu, and cabbage all showed high-quality and careful work, making it a sandwich that conveyed such efforts.

Fukuoka Prefecture's 20th katsu sandwich was packed to the brim. It came in a nice box and was a great katsu sandwich. The bread was soft all the way to the crust. Both the katsu and cabbage were delicious. Eating two of them made me really full. There were many types of katsu sandwiches available, all priced similarly. Sometimes you get lucky with a delicious one, other times not so much. This time, it was definitely a hit. The box was quite large, but it makes sense for such a substantial sandwich. It was really tasty.

I have bought croissants before, but this is my first time trying a sandwich from here. The katsu sandwich comes in three varieties, and I chose the one with spicy tomato sauce made from Kyushu brand pork. The tomato sauce was slightly spicy, with cheese and lettuce sandwiched in between. The katsu was thick and there was plenty of it.

In the morning, arrived at Hakata Station by Shinkansen, a gourmet paradise. Hakata Station has many shops open early in the morning. There are Cinnabon, beef tongue, ramen, bakery, curry, morning set, and fast food shops. I chose a sandwich shop, and while rushing, I had a pork cutlet sandwich and egg sandwich. Now heading to Kurokawa Onsen.

I heard that the Katsu sandwich from Mikazukiya, famous for their croissants, is also delicious, so I went to Hakata Station. You can also purchase it at Fukuoka Airport. They use Kyushu brand pork for the Katsu sandwich, and you can choose the taste to your liking. I bought the Katsu sandwich with mustard mayonnaise sauce for 850 yen, which is a bit pricey. It seems that the attention to detail in the packaging and carrying bag is reflected in the price. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it was just an average Katsu sandwich. The Katsu wasn't as thick as shown on the store sign, which was disappointing. The mustard mayonnaise sauce was a bit heavy as well.

This is a katsu sandwich shop located on Ippin Street at Hakata Station. Known for their croissant in Fukuoka, the shop called Mikazuki-ya offers katsu sandwiches made with tartar sauce and pork from Kyushu. I bought one and ate it on the Shinkansen. It was surprisingly delicious. The bread was moist and not dry, and the katsu had a good texture as it sank into the bread.

I had to eat in a hurry because I had business in Hakata Minami, so the photo didn't turn out well. The katsu sandwich with spicy mayonnaise for 850 yen was delicious. It had a lot of crunchy cabbage in it. I would like to try the menchi katsu next time.

I have decided that the souvenir from Fukuoka is the croissant from Mikazukiya. Oh wait, it's actually the katsu sandwich. I had to try the most popular one for men, the Karashi Mayonnaise Sandwich, and it was delicious. It has a good portion size and the price (850 yen) is not too high. However, I'm not sure if I would come back for it - it's tasty but when compared to other famous katsu sandwiches, it doesn't stand out much. The croissant, on the other hand, is exceptionally delicious and unique, so I feel like "hmm" about the sandwich.

Located at the end of the Chikushi side of Ichibin Street on the first floor of Hakata Station, this is a sandwich shop known for its croissants from Mikazuki-ya. They offer sandwiches like brand pork cutlet sandwiches and minced cutlet sandwiches. I bought lunch here for work. I got the egg sandwich for 600 yen, which came with a cold pack, which was appreciated. The fluffy bread was generously filled with egg paste. It was delicious, but I got a little tired of the taste after just one sandwich. It would be nice if they offered a half & half set or something similar. Thank you for the meal.

I ate a pork cutlet sandwich on the Shinkansen. It was quite big and very satisfying to eat, I only managed to eat half of it. The sweet sauce was delicious, and the pork cutlet was very thick. It was quite expensive at 850 yen, but it was a high-quality sandwich! I enjoyed it very much!

The reviewer decided to have a katsu sandwich with mustard mayonnaise before boarding the Shinkansen at Fukuoka Airport. The sandwich was thick and satisfying, with a good amount of filling. They found it to be a good alternative to a bento box for a quick meal. If you happen to stop by Hakata Station, they recommend trying this katsu sandwich.

I had breakfast at Hakata Station. Around 8:30 am, there was no particular wait. I had tried spicy mayo before, so this time I chose tartar sauce. The tartar sauce had a strong acidity and went well with the crispy vegetables. The pork cutlet was thin and slightly tough, so considering the price, men might feel a bit unsatisfied.

There is a sandwich shop right outside the Shinkansen exit of Hakata Station called "Mikazuki." Since it has the same name as the famous croissant shop, it is likely related. There is also a Mikazuki shop nearby. I was drawn to the "Kyushu brand pork tartar sauce" sandwich for 900 yen. The tartar sauce seemed to be homemade. The pork cutlet was thick and topped with tomatoes. It was quite a challenge to eat, but it was very filling. Thank you for the meal.

I purchased a tonkatsu sandwich at a famous bakery called Mikazukiya located in the Ichiban Street inside Hakata Station. I was torn between the egg sandwich, but decided to go with the most popular choice. The tonkatsu sandwich (made with Kyushu brand pork and mustard mayonnaise) was delicious. The bread was soft all the way to the edges. The tonkatsu, made with Kagoshima's Chami pork this time, was tender and had a good texture. The special sauce and mustard mayonnaise, along with shredded cabbage, paired perfectly with the tonkatsu. Although the price is a bit high, the portion size is generous and I felt satisfied. This concludes the station bento series.

At Hakata Station's "Ippin Street (lined with souvenir shops and bento shops)," there is a specialty shop of Katsu Sandwich from Mikazukiya, known for their popular croissants. My husband, who loves Katsu Sandwich, decided to buy one. Instead of choosing a regular Katsu Sandwich, he opted for the "Kyushu brand pork with spicy tomato sauce (950 yen including tax)." Mikazukiya's packaging for their croissants is always beautiful, and the Katsu Sandwich was no exception, being placed in a box inside a paper bag. This makes it a great choice for a souvenir. The Katsu Sandwich contains a thick and tender tonkatsu, with high-quality bread. Although it is a bit pricey, it is a delicious Katsu Sandwich according to my husband. The sauce is quite spicy, but it complements the sandwich well. Overall, it was a tasty sandwich that suited my husband's preferences.

I returned to Hakata Station from Kagoshima Central on the first train! I need to go back to the hotel to change first... Then I'll head to Kumamoto from Hakata Station. I'm hungry, so I stopped by a katsu sandwich shop inside the station. They also sell various flavors of croissants. This time, I'm focusing on pork, so I got a katsu sandwich! It cost 850 yen... quite expensive. The katsu is the highlight, but I wish the bread had better quality. It's well-balanced with the mustard mayo. I'm full now, it's like eating two slices of bread... I'll make sure not to miss my stop, thank you for the meal.
