I am here at Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine again this morning. Although the mornings and evenings have improved slightly, it is still hot when walking around. My throat is dry, so I stopped by this shop to take a break. The shop is located near the northwest corner of Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, right next to Sumiyoshi Station on the Hankai Tramway. Inside the shop, it feels like an old-fashioned coffee shop, with quiet music playing and the charming sound of the tram passing by. Yesterday, there was heavy rain, so Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine looked beautiful against the blue sky. I relaxed in this calm shop with effective air conditioning, listening to the quiet music. Thank you for the meal. The stained glass on the ceiling at the entrance is also nice.

I visited this shop on a Saturday morning around 10:50 am for a casual errand in the nearby area. There was one customer before me and two after me. The shop is run by a quiet shopkeeper and has a nostalgic Showa retro atmosphere. Their morning menu is available until 11:30 am, offering a choice of coffee with toast, sandwich, or ham toast as a complimentary side. I ordered the blend coffee (430 yen) with a sandwich for my morning set. The coffee was served in about 3-4 minutes and had a refreshing acidity and sharp bitterness. The sandwich options were egg filling and ham. The egg filling sandwich had finely chopped eggs with plenty of mayonnaise on soft and moist bread spread with mustard. The ham sandwich was simple with ham, sliced cucumbers, seasoned butter, and mustard. Both were delicious. Thank you for the meal.

To take revenge on my previous visit, I went back to Sumiyoshi Taisha shrine. First, I got the five power stones at the power stone shop and then took a break at a cafe along the Chinden street. I arrived at 9:45 and there was one customer before me and one after me, so it seemed quiet. The entrance looked small, but the inside was surprisingly spacious. I ordered an iced coffee and a morning sandwich for 430 yen. The drink came with a free service. They brought me a glass of water, a cloth towel, and an ion deodorizer called Nest5. The iced coffee was unsweetened, and the sandwich had ham and egg with cucumber, which I don't like, but I managed to eat it like an adult. The interior of the cafe was bright, clean, and spacious, with a nice atmosphere and 60s pop music playing in the background. Thank you for the meal!

This morning, after taking a walk to Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine, I stopped by this restaurant near Sumiyoshi Station of the Chin Chin Train on my way back. The entrance was small, but inside there was a spacious counter with 12 seats and 7 tables. The menu displayed drink prices and for breakfast, you could choose from toast, sandwiches, and ham sandwiches. I ordered a sandwich and my usual iced tea. The egg sandwich and ham sandwich came as a set, and to my surprise, the sandwich was complimentary! The atmosphere was quiet, with a nostalgic feel reminiscent of old coffee shops. The curved ceiling and stained glass added to the charm of the place. It was a great spot to enjoy a relaxing time.

I visited "Nest" near Sumiyoshi Taisha. I had the mixed sandwich (600 yen including tax). It came in a basket-like container. Inside, there were cucumber, ham, and freshly cooked scrambled eggs sandwiched together, with ketchup on the eggs. I devoured it quickly. Thank you for the meal.

The atmosphere feels like it's frozen in time from the Showa era. The music playing is Western music, not classical, but a variety of genres. I visited for lunch and they only had brunch items, which I found delightful. I ordered a hotcake sandwich and a Santos coffee, starting from ¥380. They also offer morning sets, but I'm not sure of the hours. I had the place to myself and enjoyed a leisurely meal. The sandwich was delicious and surprisingly filling, and the coffee made from beans was rich and slightly acidic. Thank you for the meal. I hope they continue to preserve the Showa era ambiance.

I visited a retro-style coffee shop near Sumiyoshi Station on the Hankai Tramway on my way back from visiting Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine for New Year's. The coffee shop is located behind the station and has a Showa-era atmosphere. I sat in a smoke-free seat as the entire shop allows smoking. If you order a drink before 11:30, you can get free toast, sandwiches, or ham toast. I ordered Guatemala coffee, which was brewed carefully and served at a surprisingly reasonable price for a straight coffee. It had a sweet aroma and a deep flavor. I also received a free sandwich, which was soft and fluffy with fillings like ham, cucumber, and egg. The shop is located at 2-9-109 Sumiyoshi, Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka City.

After eating green curry, I went to help out at a tekiya (street vendor) in Osaka, which was the last summer festival of the year. The wide grounds of Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine were filled with various food stalls for the Sumiyoshi Festival. Helping out at the festival was easy, as we left at 2:30 PM after setting up the shop and getting ice and drinks. We still had some time before the festival started, so a friend took me to a retro coffee shop along the Hankai Line. The coffee shop had a vintage charm with polished floors and tobacco-stained white walls. They served a blend of coffee made using a siphon, which had a refreshing acidity. The shop also had newspapers and magazines, creating a cozy atmosphere that was different from modern cafes. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Located in Sumiyoshi, Osaka City, I always make sure to stop by Nest before visiting Sumiyoshi Taisha (Kesho-den). I couldn't visit last year due to the pandemic, but it was a relief to see that the store hadn't changed after two years. I thoroughly enjoyed the egg sandwich and the morning set with coffee, and then headed to Sumiyoshi Taisha. Nest and Kesho-den are a perfect pair! I sincerely hope to come back next year to enjoy their egg sandwich again. You can count on me, Sumiyoshi-san.
